Since the new space map is truly endless, it's a shame that the devs haven't gone back and made a truly endless flat map. It would be great for testing top-speed builds like this one.
A tip: Wedges do create forces perpendicular to the angled side. All the wedges going up to your seat were pushing you down and making you less efficient. I think turning all your wedges on their side may have made you faster and eliminated the need for the spoiler. It would have been super ugly, though. Also, the cockpit seat has slightly worse aero than a 4x1 wedge. The top of your seat was still exposed.
@@radontrailmakers i tested this thinking the same thing and I couldn’t get it to go any faster. I tested a car with one dragon jet with front aero and flat back vs the same car with reverse aero on the back added. The speed was the same if not slower do to the added weight. I’ve seen it possibly work in videos though so I’m not sure how else you could definitely test it and know where and when it does and doesn’t actually do anything.
Still think yall should do a multiplier monday on the test map that's a normal dog fight, but you all have to be moving faster than sound barrier on average. Possibly make some logic system that sets off tnt if you drop below that speed after reaching it.
And I really was not expecting it to go faster with the wheels off at the end. I guess now that Spacebound is out, wheels just slow us down all the time. LOL
The only way to make it with only one would be probably using the zero-drag glitch so 2 glitchless is best that can be done probably (at least from what I know)
I have. Skis require fins to keep the vehicle going straight, otherwise it just spins out. The amount of stabilization required to keep it going straight on skis outweighs any sort of benefit of using the skis, from my experience.
hill climb motorcycles kinda terrify me to be honest: short version? those tires will go straight through you and they are explicitly built for using them in a situation where getting separated from the bike is the _expected_ outcome with pretty good odds of it falling right back towards the rider immediately after.
ok but I am trying to build a motorcycle not a thruster train :) function AND form. Of course I can strap the best aero pieces onto a bunch of rockets in a straight line and go supersonic in 2 seconds, where's the fun in that?
I want to see you test the limits of the game, can you make a floating chair like the floating chair in real life that uses tenchion to stay up and looks like it should fall over because its held up by rope or chains
as part of the new update, it's a partial fix to the wheel sink problem, the physics don't change but visually the wheel tries to discreetly bend to look like it's on the ground. (in that case the wheels sink too much and the illusion isn't enough to look good)
@cosmonaut I want you to do yourself a favor and look up zero drag glitch 😅 because it can be used very specific spots if you need to change that drag 😉
The rocket engines here are the size of an f1 and look like an f1 engine and five of those lifted a Saturn 5 rocket to well over Mach 5 and it weighs anywhere from 2000-3000tons meaning each engine should produce almost 700tons of thrust EACH and this craft weighs like not even 20 tons

they scale up and down surprisingly easily, there is not much mechanical difference between the rocket in a not-a-child's toy that runs on a cigarette lighter worth of fuel per minute and an F1 Bell engine where the _fuel pump_ is rated at ~55,000 horsepower (or in numbers that are an actual unit of energy ~41 megawats) so it can push ~42.5 thousand gallons of fuel through the engine per minute. what is that in reference points...the fuel pump on an F1 would fill an Olympic-standard swimming pool in about 11 minutes and 40 seconds...though frankly I'm not sure how useful a point of reference that is...oh! okay: they aren't ALL the same size but apparently _most_ water towers in the US are roughly a million gallons, so about 23 minutes for a famous oldtimey rocket engine's fuel pump to pump a water tower worth of fuel...and they burn for like 10...(does a quick google check) yeah...yeah there was a bit more than an olympic-standard swimming pool worth of fuel used in each saturn 5 launch (touch over 521k gallons of fuel vs 490k for an olympic pool (203.4k of kerosene and 318k of liquid oxygen))...good lord you really just do *NOT* get the proper sense of scale from most images of a space shuttle launch do you? you think "this is a vehicle for people" and think of it as, I dunno, yacht-sized when in reality it is more like "this is a bomb the size of a skyscraper that we strapped some *REALLY* important bits to the front of, all we can do now is hope it blows up juuuust right". ah, google lied to me: the FIRST stage is 520000 gallons of chilly O2 and presumably hot kerosene, the second stage is another 340,000 gallons of hydrogen and oxygen (turns out soon-to-be-water is a pretty weight efficient fuel) and the third stage is another 86,000 gallons of REALLY eager not-water-yet. soooo, yeah, in terms you might actually have a personal reference for the fuel tanks on a saturn rocket were cumulatively roughly 1 city water tower.

@@AgentWest Yes. Going past one edge will automatically loop you back round the other way.

I always love your Trailmakers vidoes, Kosmo, keep them coming!
Kosmo engines cap or add alot of rolling resistance to wheels when using rockets, that's why your speed was jumping up and down
reverse aerodynamics are a thing, so would likely be beneficial to place aero behind the rocket too to streamline
That is only true for hydrodynamics in this game.
I tested and found no indication that reverse aerodynamics are a thing in the game.
@@dustinlackey4250100% correct. It's why most people "can't make a fast boat"
Also I bet if you use sleds to eliminate friction one rocket engine will do supersonic
also wedges on the back, the game doesn't show that but trailing edge wedges help a lot. With those it will definitely go supersonic with just one.

@@letsdosomething6691Interesting, in my testing trailing edge wedges have helped. I don't know why it may not have worked for you.
If you're using engines, use wheels with lots of friction. If you're using jets, use wheels with low friction.

I want to see land and sea battles with the new shield generator in play.
Take the wheels off, quadruple the speed... I was not expecting that.

all you needed was to use the 4x1 wedges instead of 2x1 and 3x1. they have a massive difference, more than weight

100% agree just something to think about when trying to get a little more speed
Can we put a gyrostabiliser facing forwards to keep the vehicle from spinning out?
that would make the front wheel go up, because Gyro stabiliser try to face its tip always up
i thought the gyro tries to point the vehicle to the direction the arrow on it points
