Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful girlfriend Mariana for seven years now.
Together Mariana, my father Clinton and myself, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!

This little farm has everything - just decide what to do with all that land - crops, animals, and enjoy expanding the house, and I hope some little family will have a wonderful life there ! It looks so promising !

I need to stay away from UA-cam! The algorithms have me locked into properties in Portugal! I’m thinking of running away from home! That’s crazy cause I’m 73 which makes me wonder because my time is certainly limited. What is the inheritance taxes in Portugal. Also my son and wife live in the United States so what issues do we need to concern ourselves with? I’ve become enamored with Portugals country side. Of course moving there would certainly be a significant difference not having friends there or speaking the language but the land doesn’t care so much. A property this large would require a nice tractor to really manage and maintain the property. Planting cherry trees would not be my choice. However I don’t know what would be best use for the land would be. I think I would just stare at it for a while.

One day when i am ready to buy that’s exactly what i want all organised and fields ready to plant what i want the house is easy to build the soil type amd the infrastructure not easy amazing and i could use the farmer to plant my trees

Yes, it certainly does. I always say we get four proper seasons, three months of each :D
What happened to the fruit trees? Why did he plane the plot of land?
Because he has a nursery for trees, so he plants them and sells them
,how much do you get per kg for a lam ...and what do you pay per kg at butcher for lam tjops
please, say, if the houses have a license to live in. if it was a agriculture support building, it is not allowed to live in or even to insert a toilet or kitchen.
It does indeed have this, license to build 120m2 footprint on 2 floors - 240m2 usable area… This is not an agricultural support building and had a ruin here that was built upon legally - there’s a reason why I have the pictures of this in the summer of last year, took me months to get it legally checked 😊
@@Farmerforfun in general, i have seen a lot of videos of you.....and there are really interesting objects. in any case, you are talking about a house, i can be sure, that it is possible to live in? even at the cheaper one? for me this is very important. i mean, i know, people, who think, it will be no problem, if no license to live in, or they think, if build before 1951, it is general allowed,......i want not to waste my time to think about, to visit, to negotiate on a house, that after investing a lot of time and money, the cmaera say, it is illegal.....i had this so often. sorry for my bad english

It will cost you to get it checked, you will need to pay for an architect (I can recommend some if you want, if you have your own no problem!). I have already had this checked and can provide all the information I have, then if you wanted to pursue the information further you can get it checked by a third party 😊 Not sure what else I can say really, other than email me for more info 😊

I like everything about this video except the house. I would knock it down completely and have a spacious house built where when you open the front door there is a small hall way and then a front room with the kitchen at the back. Don't like nothing about the house.

Really … ready to move into? No bath facilities or kitchen appliances or support such as sink, counter, cabinets…. How is that “ready” ….here is definition of ready .. in a suitable state for an activity, action, or situation, fully prepared … you have missed the mark on that …

I think this is the most immaculately maintained farm, irrigation systems, and beautifully appointed shelter i've ever seen presented amongst the central Portugal channels i've watched. Makes me wish i had deep pockets and were young like you with a dream of farming such land in such a gorgeous growing area.
Joseph, do you have more info on extending the property; as in, a square meter footprint permitted to extend into? I would need to add a minimum of three bedrooms to this property so this info is vital. Thanks for your videos. As always, they’re a pleasure to watch!
Hi there! House can be legally extended to 120m2 footprint of 2 floors, so 240m2 usable area is permitted.

My buyers unfortunately pulled out of buying my UK property because of the increase in UK mortgage interest rates 😢 So for me and the dogs it's temporary back to the drawing board 😊

Hello there! Portugal is ranked one of the safest places for immigrants to move to and/or retire to. There’s lots of reasons that can be found in lots of articles all over google etc, but mainly due to the climate, friendly people and their welcoming nature, the food, the diversity portugal has to offer and plenty of other reasons too 😁 💕

Hello thanks for watching! Prices have unfortunately gone up in recent years but I don’t think it’s expensive - the filtration equipment is expensive to install, the fencing too… Having the ability to build up to 240m2 usable area costs a fortune especially when you add on the land 😊

Portugal is the EU zone, so euro is used. And you do know they have materials/food in Europe too? Shipping it in from the USA would be costly and pretty pointless.
Portugal is a member of the European Union and the currency is EURO which is stronger than USD at this moment. Also, you will find all the materials you need, and cheaper than shipping them from the states and paying import taxes
