    I am lucky to have tons of dandelion in my yard and the flowers are great for tea, omelette and jelly, the leaves are great for salad, omelette, sandwiches. God gave us this amazing plant and people are destroying them because they want a beautiful lawn.😢

    I don't have a dehydrator, so I put everything I dry on baking sheets and leave them in a hot car on a hot, sunny day. Thank you for this recipe! 8 C water with 1/2 C chopped up fresh roots. Boil, then simmer for 40 min. Add a little more dried roots since they are less potent than fresh root. Has anyone ever blanched, then frozen the roots?

      They do the same thing as potatoes, parsnips, and cattail roots if you blanch and freeze. They get mealy.

    I buy the leaf 🍃 at the farmers market that I uses in my smoothie for liver ailments. I don’t have access to the root. I found the organic dry version at my health food store. How much of the dry dandelion root to water to make tea. I love the taste of both. Thank you for your video I just stumbled on. 😊

    When I dry the roots I just cut them into small slices about 4mm. I then put them on a rack and dry them at room temperature. I leave them on top of the refrigerator and I don't waste any electricity to dry them. They can dry in one day if you make small slices.

    Great video i used to munch the leavers as a kid i dont know why but when my uncle saw me he went mad at me telling me there poisonous but for some reason i thought are they the roots were massive in my uncles garden, it very difficult to find them these days were i live i just remembered they got a fleshy stem but i had not seen any for years id mistuck one similar plants for dandelion but the plants flowered stem was solid green but had a dandelion like flower it must have been a cross weed variety they do help with constipation which i have suffered with for a few years yes the fresh brewed ones are better but like i said its like they died a death over the past fifty years i also got to picking wild blackberries there's a bit of a knack when picking them as you can easily squash them but they go great with oats

      I suggest what I call ABC for Cancer support when helping others. Astragalus, Birch (bark, polypore), Chaga, Burdock and Wild Carrot. Some combination of these helpful herbs, but of course consult a professional because the best support will vary with what treatment she's using or not using as well as other factors. Green blessings to you both.

    Very helpful video. Thank you. I have a question about soaking the tea. You mentioned it was optional, and I noticed you opted to do so. Does it make it easier to cut, or make the steeping more efficacious? Follow up; Do you soak the dried roots before steeping them as well?

    • @CleanFoodLiving
      @CleanFoodLiving  2 роки тому +4

      Hi, it makes them mildly easier to cut, but the further soaking mainly pulls off more dirt from the crevices that even washing couldn't get to. It doesn't effect steeping efficaciousness. No need to soak the dried roots before simmering.🙂

    This video was so helpful. Can you use a
    Air fryer to dry the roots?

    • @CleanFoodLiving
      @CleanFoodLiving  3 роки тому +1

      No, the airfryer will cook and crisp them... A dehydrator is at low heat, slowly drying them (not cooking them) which preserves the phytonutrients of the roots.

    • @nonetheyoshi9093
      @nonetheyoshi9093 2 роки тому

      @@CleanFoodLiving is there another way to dry them without a dehydrater¿

    • @CleanFoodLiving
      @CleanFoodLiving  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, in a regular oven at the lowest heat your oven will go. Keep the oven door cracked during drying. When they are hard with zero moisture remaining is when they're done. Or try drying them in the sun on a series of hot pure sun days. Rotate often till crispy hard. Zero moisture can remain if you want long term storage.
