Mara Gossep, No you're definitely NOT Alone. This dude is amazing and not because I share a first name with him either.. I love his style as so many others do. There are apparently 11 people that know little to nothing about drumming or have ever even touched a kit for that matter. If they have, they can post a Video of just how wonderful they are !! lol. To each, their own I suppose.

When i was 16, I lived near mingus mountain Jerome AZ. We would go to shows (Lingo) and all of us would stand in a semi circel around Tim's kit for the entire concert. Close enough that he could talk to us while he played. We would watch every note he played listen to his beats weave in and out of this wonderful music. The whole band was so inspiring. and Tim was one of us...but then again not. We all knew he was Neil Peart status, i mean we could feel it. We would also dance on the street in the winter time outside the spirit room. And fight for standing space beside the big plate glass window of the bar. SOme of us piled on the wooden bench so that we could watch the band, watch Tim groove. The window would fog up on the inside cuz there were so many people inside dancing and creating so much heat. Johnny Lingo would come over and wipe the for fromthe window so we could see Tim play. We were all in high school we couldnt go inside the bar. But we grew up listening to Tim play. He is a part of me, part of my friend circle and part of my childhood.

Tim herb alexander is Very influential on my life.....very few drummers influence me like he has. Ya know bill bruford Stewart Copeland Bill ward Narada Michael Walden Terry bozzio Steve gadd & Neil peart are hero's that help influence me to play in the first place. But guys like Tim Alexander. Danny Carey. John stainer. Mike bordin are the guys who reinvigorated my playing & gave me another reason to keep playing an never give it up. I can't leave out Charlie benante & Dave Lombardo& What they gave me in the late eighties early nineties.....but most of all ,thanks to Tim.

Wow! So many hours spent enjoying and analyzing this guy. I was still in high school when Frizzle Fry, Suck On This, and Sailing the Seas of Cheese came out. I remember one of my fellow drummer friends saying that Tim Alexander was like a hard core version of Neil Peart. I thought that was a good description, although Mr. Peart is pretty hard core himself.

As a self taught drummer I have to comment on how impactful Tims' style was in inspiring me to try to push myself to learn techniques and timing that seemed and sounded impossible ...I think Tims' drumming sorta ushered me into bigger possibilities of drum sounds and got me excited about players like Stewart Copeland ,terry bozio

Ive never seen this guy play and I sure wish I had before now!!!I love his style,he has a very unique pocket which seems to be pretty much all his own,a very unusual sense of rhythm....his transitions and just overall technical knowledge is contagious....the more I listen the more I want to listen...its amazing Ive not seen any of his videos before maybe not quite as polished as Danny carrey but very very close its one thing to have all the bells and whistles but to also incorporate them in a tasteful way without overplaying is another thing completely....I guess what Im trying to say is what a great drummer this guy REALLY IS....

I just found this video! Old rooted in hard rock 4/4, had to practice sixty beats per minute and increase to still too slow for my imagination through all pages in A Funky Rock Primer, I think saturation in Sailing the Seas of Cheese, renewed and times discovered during recent years' welcome isolation, got me unwittingly counting odd times. The drive of Alexander's work and brain and work and metronome practice ad veni vidi vici is one hard core motivator to drive on when there is nothing to go on.
