[Lesson4] The Present Tense | Talking about Habits in Japanese
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 чер 2024
- In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask questions about someone’s habits in Japanese! We’ll learn phrases like ‘Do you drink coffee?’ & ‘What do you eat every morning?’. In addition, we’ll also learn how to answer to the questions!
To make a sentence stating about a habit, we use the present tense verbs. In this lesson, we’ll learn verbs ending with ‘ます (masu)’, which are the polite style. They are generally called either ‘The Masu-form’ or ‘Present Affirmative’ in Japanese textbooks.

Bonjour, at 3:17 are 2 typing errors for 'nomimasu" and "nomimasen". However I suppose it is difficult to modify in a video. Your course are great help : thank you !
Oh, you're right! Thank you for pointing out these typing errors, and sorry for the inconvenience! 🙏 Thank you for you comment! 😊
your videos are all cute ❤️
Thank you so much for your comment! 😊🙏
whats the difference between masu and shimasu ?
"masu' is the verb ending attached to any verb in the present affirmative sentences, and it makes a sentence polite. e.g. tabemasu (to eat) , nomimasu (to drink) etc.
The verb ending with 'masu' is called 'the masu form' in Japanese verb conjugations, and actually 'shimasu' is also the masu form of a verb 'to do'. e.g. sakkaa o shimasu (I do (play) soccer.)
I hope this helps! 🙏
