Lars feels like he wasn't properly tested. His uf3 was more busted than people think. It left him in a crouching evasive position making it awkward to punish for some characters. I believe that Dragunov's df2 would whiff entirely. Bruce df2 also whiffs but he does have a hopkick which should work all the time. But it actually doesn't. It will whiff like 1 out of 5 times for no reason even if Lars lands right next to him.
Two funny things to add: d/b+2,1 had near infinite tracking on the second hit, and b1 had ludicrous range for no reason lol. Like it could punish Heihachi's ff+2.
Lars main here. Lars' biggest weakness in Tk7 is mainly two things (aside from poor low options): lack of good tracking and no mid pressure in DEN. His poor tracking can be summed up to the fact he is arguably the most evasive character in the game. So many moves have crush properties its insane to think what he would be like if he could also track both sides. He lost CH df2 in favor of df2,1 which is a high crush normal hit launcher. The amount of times I've started the round doing a near 50% combo simply bc the opponent starts with a jab and it gets crushed and promptly carried to wall is ridiculous. uf3 is still incredibly evasive much like DVJ u4. uf4 has amazing range and is safe at -9. He still has the best backdash in the game. FC 1+2 is still very good especially paired with his old df2 being moved to FC instantly creates a scary mixup when Lars is crouching, because he can also use ws2,d to safely mid poke and create distance and promptly whiff punish. He has plenty of safe mid pokes as well as crazy long range whiff punishes for good damage. Pair that with his backdash and you have a very strong character on paper. His lack of mid pressure in DEN makes DEN almost useless to use outside of a combo unless you're cancelling it to use it as an approach tool, basically making the stance animation itself used for pressure. DEN 2 while coming out at i17 has a very obvious tell and is easily blocked. DEN 3 is too slow to ever land as it can easily be stepped, the only time this will ever land is during properly timed oki, or very rarely as a whiff punish after ws2,d. DEN 1+2 was changed and is now a high, i12 and good range but unsafe at -10, albeit a normal hit launcher. He still has fb2,1, launches at -14, and can be input out of a forward dash. He still has one of the strongest staple wall combos. He is still incredibly evasive. He just lost an easy CH input and is easier to step. Still a very strong character for people willing to learn his setups. Not even to mention his buffs in TK8.
Now he has devastating DEN 3, which is: Heat engager (but without launch on heat dash) +5 on block with SEN mixup Has incredible range Tracks both sides Has low crushing properties
I'm ngl, I miss this lars I miss df2 and DE1+2 especially and the old uf3, I never realized how powerful they were. I loved playing Tekken 6 and Jin and Lars in this game were some of the most fun I had up to that point. I wanna go back and make up for lost time. Make Lars great again!
if you think about it lars in this game doesn't have crazy mixups or crazy stance no lows but he still top tire and that cuz of his movement lars have the best backdash in the game and the best male sidestep compare these two with his disgusting combos give you a good character 1 side step into arc blast can kill you
Lars has so many potential in tekken 6, his moveset are fine but the low moves aren't good.. But in tekken 7.. Knee trash talk about lars being trash then that's that
I miss T6 Lars, just so much fun to play as a character, his design (the 1P outfit) and combos were amazing, T8 version is also good but nowhere close to being T6 levels of good. I miss wreaking havoc on Xbox Live in X360. His combos without rage hurt really hard like Orbital, Arc Blast and ch df2 in particular, in rage he was more scary.
Lars was a beast in t6 and tag 2, I think it’s only right that he got nerfed in t7. Most Lars mains I know of always complain about their character being bad nowadays lmao
The loss of standing df2 really hurt Lars. The other BS like the evasive df1, uf3 etc and tracking on 12 and db21 don't really matter. However I don't think db21 2nd hit tracking both sides is a problem IMO.
He didn't need it. It was not his identity as a character. That is Kaz identity. Counter hit df2. His whole game can be based behind ch df2. So why have 2 characters with the exact same meta........ Doesnt make sense....that is why they took it from him. He never even needed it.....
@@mistahkalean6777why do both heichahi and kazuya have hellsweep and electric no point ? It doesn't look like he changed that much from 6, to Tag 2, to 7, but he's been mediocre the entirety of Tekken 7. Insane wall carry, but not much else.
It's mainly the loss of standing df2 and other character's receiving huge buffs to their neutral moves. Lars only really got buffs to his stance moves.
He didn’t have anything like kazuya besides df2 no electric pressure nothing like that, he has a strong neutral unlike kazuya with good pokes and good evasive launchers like uf4 and uf3 not a great oki game unlike kazuya and the 50,50 was never as dangerous as kazuyas because he has no safe launcher as fast as a electric
With Lars, I learned that being minus can be a good thing if your follow up has evasive properties built into it.
T7 lars can beat out df1 after blocking running 2 from dragunov with fuckin lightning screw 💀
Yeah that's not a good thing. That is cheap flowcharting seen in yellow-blue ranks in tekken 7 today.

You can cancel DEN with db d or df and do whatever mid you want. Also you mainly use DEN for oki since DEN 2 hits grounded and CH launches.
