      Yes, I will definitely be watching to see what's actually going on under the hood. I recently just bought a 2010 E70 3.0 X-DRIVE for $2.5k. I haven't yet gone through the X5, but y do know that I will to resolve some electrical issues with the DME, CASS, etc. Previous owner bought new DME etc. and when the private mechanic got the X5 to start he stated that the engine just died with a thud. They originally wanted $5.5k, but I talked them down to $2.5k. My worst case Scenario here is a new N52 engine, and several modules that will need to be coded. My E70 is the same color, but my interior is all black, and it's also a 7 seater. Thanks for sharing and you are the reason why I bought the 2010 X5 do to your review of your current E70 based on the Naturally Aspirated engines. I also have several M54 E83's, and my daughter has a E71.

    Good project car! Same engine in E83 X3 & others, so many would like to follow this ..ahhh...resurrection. Me included.
    I look forward to seeing you replace the starter. I think BMW says pull the intake but my local Tech does it from underneath on our '07 X3 in a little over an hour. Your challenge has been set! Ready, set, go! You're the man....

    • @Zeiten

      😂 i do remove intake manifold but usually do it in 30-45 mins depending on which car is it😏 3 series with n52 is the easiest and x3, x5 are the hardest

      @@Zeiten ,surely understand your point, i guess the thing is ,is that you don't know the vehicles past life and probably do not know the owner and if and how maintenance/ was done and how the vehicle was used or abused. especially if it is no engine start before you buy. risky it is true, im sure you will be able to bring it back to life though! ty

      I bought a older 2010 VW Touareg TDI instead I have a feeling they are more stout and reliable vs the 325d. It’s been a tank so far. Any thoughts on VW’s TDI SUV?

    What do think I am looking to purchase a n55 2012 x5. I will get an 4e purchase inspection done before. What should look for VCG, WATER PU,P ,STARTER, THERMOSTATE ,radiator THEY ARE ALL STILL original. It is at 88,980 miles. Do you recommend I replace them or ask the seller to get it done. Is it something I can do. I have a n52 2008 528xi and replaced the thermostat and the crankshaft sensor at home diy. I saw your videos they are extremely very helpful. I intend to do most of the stuff. ITurbos on the n55 do they last xx years with proper preventive maintenece or should I go buy a n52 x5 instead. N52 is may be tye best bet and would out live with preventive maintenance, it comes down to maintainence and buying used things cN go wrong very quickly. N52 over n55, your thoughts please ........

    I currently own a 540i e39 and had to repair the automatic trasmission last year it cost USD$1,000 to repair. it had 175,000km so Iam afraid the x5 will suffer from transmission too. do you know if these x5 have transmission issues?

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  2 роки тому

      E70 x5 has a pretty good zf transmission it is although requires annual service (mechatronic seals, new oil pan and fluid) also sometime but rare in my experience there is an issue with gear selector switch but easily solvable with a replacement part (usually used)

    Im in Peru and would like to buy one 3.0 x5, i saw your video that you recommend between 2010 and 2012. Would you recommend this vehile with 120,000km or 150,000km?? should I buy it?

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  2 роки тому +1

      Definitely get a pre purchase inspection, every car is different. Overall great car and pretty reliable but it is sort of expensive to fix and not every mechanic can fix it

      Both, you can pull it out from the top but you’ll need to disconnect it from transmission and remove axles with front differential all of those are done from the bottom
