I will be adding a 99 cent poncho to my trike. Orlando's weather has been bad this week. Wednesday it rain a little on my ride, but Thursday it started pouring rain halfway thru. I got totally soaked. At least the weather was warm 75. Today was 134 days in a row. I love my trike, even the rainy day was fun.
Thanks for the video. You guys are extreme minimalists compared to me as I carry everything but the kitchen sink. All kidding aside I carry a few extra things because our trikes are assisted. I carry a fairly comprehensive first aid/minor trauma kit. A small tool kit, zip ties, a few tools, pencil, pen, and paper. We also bring a few snacks, water and some energy boosters if we bonk. This time of year we add rain gear and extra layers because it can get cold and wet in a hurry (most times we avoid riding too far from home if rain is imminent. Right now we have heavy rain and wind, no rides for a few days. Thanks again for sharing and have a great weekend!
That's really one of the great things about trikes, you can carry lots of stuff fairly easily! My GTO has a very large rear rack bag and I've been known to piles lots of things in there. :)
I carry pretty much the same with one add on a cheap 99 cent poncho. Note: it only rains hard if I don't have it. ( It's a Florida thing🌧) if I need more I got a phone. I wonder if UBER will deliver for cycling brakes?🤣 thanks for sharing guys 💫

If an unexpected downpour were to be catered for, I'd carry a clear plastic sheet big enough to cover me and the trike. Have pockets in it's corners to put rocks in to hold it down.
I carry a tyre glide. I find it works better on the 20 inch tires and does a great job on the 700c. Besides the tire pump I have a CO2 pump and spares.
I am still searching for the proper bag and proper place for the bag on my wife's VTX. I am pretty close to you guys with the contents. Good info update.
Yes, the VTX is not the easiest trike to find a bag for. The "Radical Design" bags are so expensive, I'm always looking for a less expensive alternative.
Only tried a recumbent once, it was a lightweight job. Felt effortless on the flat & surprised how efficient it was up hills, used less energy than an upright but not as fast. Scary downhill tho, got really fast really quick, had to back off cos I wasn't used to the handling & was sat so low visibility not the best. Would not like to ride one in city traffic for same reason, they too low. Can see the attraction of them for sure, lots of positives in the design & fun to ride.

The leatherman is a good idea. Mine just sits in a drawer, not now. I always carry a small chain tool cuz years ago I really needed one and used a rock and a nail. Never needed it since but hey, it's like insurance. Also Park tire boots/patches and on overnights or more a fibre spoke kit (is that the correct term?). Never used the spoke repair either but have needed the tire boot on my 1977 Raleigh DL-1 with the original tires (I liked the look). Now it has Schwalbe Delta cream colour and they look better.......
Tire boots are also a great idea! I have popped a spoke and broken a chain on a trike ride and luckily, I was close to the end of the ride both times. The spoke issue wasn't that bad on a 20" wheel, it remained fairly true, and I just removed the loose spoke. I've never heard of the FiberFix spoke kit. Just looked it up and I'll have to check it out!
Great video. I am a minimalist also. I carry Gatorade zero or OJ instead of water and granola/power bars. Also co2 for inflation. Being a retired dentist I always have the gloves to keep the hands clean.

I hear you. A few years back, there was a mountain lion spotted many times on my regular riding route. I started carrying a large knife on my bag. Doubt I would've had the time or presence of mind to pull it out of my bag if I was attacked. Mace sounds like a good idea for dealing with "human" assailants.
At the absolute minimum, all the tools other cyclists likely won't have. So yes, a pair of pliers, two sizes of tube, and a coin that I need for the rohlof should I need to remove the rear wheel. I also take a larger rear sprocket, which weighs nothing and takes no effort to changeover, in case my battery/motor stops working, so I'll be able to peddle up any steep hills on the way home 😊

Joe's had the Leatherman tool since the 80's and I think it was one of the basic originals. My multi-tool is the Topeak "Alien" and is kind of overkill. It's got lots of things I'll never use. :)
I would never say it's wise to blow a stop sign. Then again, I think California should've passed the bike rolling stop law like Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Delaware have.
Recently brought a trike, but after watching your videos all I see is a few pounds of scrap metal and a few thousand down the crapper. They just seem to be worthless.
Umm, I've never ridden an HP trike, but they have a pretty good reputation for well-built bikes/ trikes. They do look like they'd be on the heavier side more for touring. That being said, I'm sure trikes would not be everyone's cup of tea. They do hold their value very well, so you probably won't have any trouble selling it for a good price.

I weigh 135 and trike doesn't look like it will hold up . Trike mfrs and dealers are incredibly greedy. I had to give my specialized bikes . I thought a trike would be the answer. Bad choice.
The low level of components has been a recumbent "thing" for as long as I can remember. Recumbent riders don't seem to mind, but it always baffled me that a $3K road bike would have much better components than a $3K recumbent. I wouldn't write the trike off without even trying it. The do offer a fun and completely different riding experience than an upright.@@ronschild9731

It's called a "Mini-pump". They usually come with a bracket you can attach to the frame, but I just put mine in my bag.

Joe's had the Leatherman tool since the 80's and I think it was one of the basic originals. My multi-tool is the Topeak "Alien" and is kind of overkill. It's got lots of things I'll never use. :)
Do you guys think it's wise and a good example to blow STOP SIGNS? I notice a lot of the bike UA-cam programs that they all blow STOP SIGNS.
