    If I was in your situation I would get some storage bags and make one of your closets a holder for storage bags of clothes that are out of season or out of rotation. The storage bags are more compact and you could do it in a way where there is no wasted space. Then you think of everything you have planned in the next three months, your daily life clothing needs, special events and the weather that is likely. Then create outfits by choosing your absolute favourites and the things that go with them, just as if you were choosing your clothes for the upcoming week. Those are the things that should be in your working closet. Then when you get bored of the selections you've been wearing, go through your stored items and create a new working closet. (That's what I had to do when I lived in a caravan for a year - as a fashionista)

      That's a great idea. A woman I know who owns a vintage shop in Paris told me to get the storage bags but put them under my bed (I couldn't tell her the underbed area was for all the sheets, blankets etc - because no closets). But I never thought about just putting the storage bags in one closet to free up space. Genius idea, I'll look into that.

    Been following you for awhile and not only enjoy you, but also the message you’re imparting. 🤩 Je t’aime! No worries, we all learn things when we fail.

      Merci beaucoup, and we do learn when we fail. When I realized that quitting my law job didn't mean I had failed, it was the greatest release for me and I try to remind myself that failure is a part of life and it's okay.

    It was actually refreshing to see a fail as opposed to all the perfect clean outs. On the other hand, the fact that you still like everything means you chose well from the beginning. My smaller walk-in needs another clear out as well. I've done a few and made progress but still have a lot of office wear and just in case clothes that I really need to say goodbye to. A lot of people in Europe seem to prefer the changing out from one season to another which makes sense when closets are limited. If you have a place to put another wardrobe that might be your best bet. It's certainly not good to have everything smashed in together. That would stress me out.

      Getting rid of the office wear & just in case clothes are the most tricky I think. Sometimes things can work for both office and life and then, of course, the little voice is always saying “but you might need that.” I don’t know if I’ll ever need a formal dress again, but I have 3 just in case. Haha. I would love to switch out my closet. It’s so stressful having everything squished. But I can’t because the owner won’t let me have access to the storage unit (for my apartment) in the basement! So that leaves the storage unit that I have for luggage & Christmas decor that outside of Paris. I would love to at least box up my coats every spring but just the mere thought of having to go get jujus car, wait for him to be available, and then carry it down the block to his car while everyone on the busy street watches, and then drive to the unit - is a different level of overwhelming. But I’m going to look at renting a unit in a building close to me because the tiny closet system is unsustainable.

      Thank you. And, I am back to avoiding another closet clean out. I'll just be more conscious about what I bring home. Just as I finished my attempt at this, Juju came home from work and I was like "dude we need a house in the countryside."

    I enjoyed watching your closet clean out fail. I think it was eye opening. 99% of your clothes you love. That means you are nailing your personal style! That is a win in my book. Hopefully, you will figure out a storage solution that works 🩷

      Thank you. It was nice to realize that I love everything but having it squished is certainly not a long term solution. So, I will definitely have to figure that out. Maybe I should take over Juju's little room.

    Hello from a new subscriber from Boston! I so admire your courage in moving abroad! I am a retired educator and psychotherapist. My first career was a German language teacher. I longed to study in Germany as an undergrad, but unfortunately couldn't. I went on to get my masters here and secured a teaching position and each summer i traveled with my students to various European cities, Paris included! But because i didnt have that true immersion experience, i never felt confident speaking.
    I returned to the university and obtained a second masters degree and was a psychotherapist for the remai der of my working career.
    Anyway, i am impressed and proud for you and wish you much happiness and success in your new city!❤😊

      Hello. Thank you for your message and your kind words. I visited Boston a few times and each time it was soo cold, but a lot of fun. I still haven’t been to Germany but I really want to go. I’m probably too mischievous to live there (I always jaywalk) but I’ve always found German people to be so kind. One thing when it comes to speaking is you never get better unless you speak. I talk to everyone and it’s amazing how much my French improves just from simple conversations at the bus stop. But I understand that it’s hard to feel confident speaking - believe me!! I’m sorting out my second career right now and while I’ve thought about going back to school, ultimately, I think I need to just jump into the unknown a bit; just like I did with Paris. We shall see. Anyway thank you again. Have a great day!

    So you love everyting in your closet. So does that mean you aren't going to buy any thing else.?
    If you do buy anyting it won't fit in there. Abigger closet could be nice but you can still run out of space and beel over whelmed.
    Maybe just some where to seperate the summer from the wintere.

    • @adrielfelise
      @adrielfelise  6 місяців тому

      Well I only did summer dresses in this video and I do love every summer dress that I have. Will I buy more? If I see something that I love, that’s unique & that I don’t have, then yes. If not, then no. And I did manage to clean out winter dresses so I have space to add more in that closet 😜

      I gave all my work clothes to a colleague and the cleaning crew in my apartment building. When you only have 3 days before your lease expires to move, it’s amazing how quickly you can get rid of things.

    How much are storage units in Paris ? Go ahead gurl...go get you one, but don't store the Chanel dress in it...too risky, might somehow vanish ( ye olde employee 5 finger discount).

    • @adrielfelise
      @adrielfelise  5 місяців тому

      Oh I have one. It has my luggages, Christmas supplies, our golf clubs, snowboards, and a random piece of vintage furniture I’m trying to sell. Storage units are sooo expensive that we cannot afford a bigger one. Haha.

    I see why Parisian women are usually very picky as to what they buy because they do not have the space.. compared to typical American style houses.

    So sweet and funny! Why not rent out your clothes on, "Clothes On Rent", or on any other apps of similar types.....? Alternatively, buy an additional movable wardrobe...

    • @adrielfelise

      I have too many vintage pieces that I know would come back destroyed. I need to just revamp my wardrobe system. There just isn't space for a new wardrobe so I think I'll re-do my Ikea system and add more hanging racks.
