and again after listening one reaction, i end up playing all of the jaivas again 😁 This song is so special to me, my husband left me the day my mother died, I had a 8 months baby, and he said we also had to leave the house because he bought it.. . jus two months after he asked me to quit my job to work with him... awful moment of my life. When he said he didnt wanted to be with me anymore, I was listening to this song, and for some reason it was repeating. I thought I couldnt listen to this anymore, o los jaivas, it was very traumatic. But the beauty of this music overcome all that shit, and also life kept on going. ahhh and the bonustrack.. all this happened in august 2020, on the worst moment of the pandemic I found myself without a house, no job and a little baby, and everywhere was lockdown
hi Mark!!!. After Gato Alquinta's death, bassist's of the band (Mario Mutis) took his role as lead singer. He was always his second voice, they had so much training that this was their natural move (replacement). This rythim is based on "CUECA", national dance, but turned into Los Jaivas universe. Best regards!!!
You MUST use your headphones for this band... 👉🧠. They are very, VERY special in how they create their music. No hukelele, it's a CHARANGO a south american Andean instrument.
Muy buena reflexión acerca del mundo de música más compleja y elevada que existe 'out there'. Creo que eso es algo de lo que gran parte de Europa y Norteamérica se están perdiendo.
excellent long-lived band, a band similar to the sound of the Jaivas of today is Kuervos del Sur - Cenizas, you will like the rock sound . Southern Kuervos - Ashes ,Video . Chilean
Just an advice..... you have to react to the original members song......cause the lyrics sound such different than the original.... the voice from El Gato was unique.... Thx for your reacts and sorry for my english xDDD
good reaction bro, greetings from Chile and welcome to the world of Los Jaivas... I recommend listening to the song Bosques virginales, it will blow your mind
i think "La conquistada" translate more accurately to "the conquered" or "the conquered one" and i believe this song is about the city of Santiago after the coup perpetrated by Pinochet and the other military forces in 1973
This is Not the original version, not original singer/guitarrist , this is a re-edition. I recommend you react to the original studio album version 1975 Even better
It is not only scales that are different around the world, vocal techniques, especially vibrato vary enormously. There are Japanese singers who I find hard to listen to because I am used to Western music. I think you should feel good about shining a light on different music, we can all get too comfortable with what we know.
Aw thank you! I just was kinda curious about what other cultures actually listened to and decided to start digging one day. 3 months later, here we are lol.

Great reaction, as ever. The ‘jarring’ scale sounds come across to me as having Spanish influences, with Flamenco etc having a lot of chromaticism in them. Some great piano work, as you said. (The “ukelele” is a ten-string South American instrument called a charango, btw. (Edit - others have commented on this as well, sorry))
Hello Markabusi. Thank you very much for your reaction to the Proud of Chile. Los Jaivas. The rythm that they most use is 6/8. Everytime I listen this wonderfoul song my Skin rushes. Sorry formmy English. Thank you aguín.
Contemplating in my memory to that place On the horizon of my mind the sun has hidden as a memory that comes to me from your heart she no longer exists As a memory that comes to me from your heart she no longer exists She is a cloud that the wind conquered She is a cloud that the wind conquered She is a cloud that the wind conquered Gentle caresses, tender unveils Gentle caresses, tender unveils Gentle caresses, tender unveils She's a cloud that a fiery kiss melted she no longer exists On the horizon of my mind the sun has hidden On the horizon of my mind the sun has hidden On the horizon of my mind the sun has hidden… She's a cloud that a fiery kiss melted she no longer exists.
