its an actual flex.... they glue a board on the front of the canon. put a glass fulkl of beer on int ( not glued or screwed) and than drive trhough a offroad course. in the end... no beer spilled. because the tank levels its canon by itself
As a former tanker and drinker of beer, the real footage of the Leopard 2 doing that stunt brought tears to my eyes. FYI, and I am not making this up, we went on exercise with a case of beer in our turret in the Canadian Armoured Corps. Maybe it was only my regiment and at the end of the Cold War, but that’s what we did.
As a Leopard 2 gunner i can't fully agree with that. Yes all the necessary parts are in but it does not represent well how crampt it is in there. Part of your backrest are the legs of your commander, the turret basket is so small that your feet will hit it and 2cm above your head is your sight. So what i am saying is that i would have wished for a normal human size people in the cross section.
Funny thing to me in the modern days is that American and German tanks basically switched roles in ww2, before Germany had really good highly armored breakthrough tanks with a painfully long and complex logistics trail behind them (Tiger) and america had the invader class of relatively light medium well rounded tanks (sherman) now Germany has the fast well rounded tank (leopard) and america has the rare highly armored rediculous logistics requirement tank (abrams)
Except Leopard 2 is also better protected than the Abrams. We literally have the accidentally disclosed testing data from Sweden and people still make up stuff.
I really wished the Philippine Army could operate the Leopard 2 even the 2A4 variant, much like how my country's army operate the Merkava as an armoured vehicle-launched bridge (AVLB).
I think it would be awesome if you could also give metric measurements, at least when talking about things designed in metric like the leopard. Sure it can go 85mph but what is that for those of us who don’t use imperial?
I look at these modern tanks and I just see deathtraps. Like for example, the walkway into the driver's seat is so small and claustrophobic that if the tank got hit, the tank driver most certainly can't be saved.
something ive been seeing recently is this guy named mike vining and his apparent legendary status in the military, is it alright with yall to make a video on him?
Well I guess you have your knowledge from games in terms of war. A cheap mine can disable any tank in the world. A right hit from a drone or RPG can disable any tank in the world. Tanks are part of combined arms and cannot be seen as a single win it all vehicle. If engineers didnt clear mines the tank will probably get destroyed. If there is no anti air support, the tank will probably get destroyed. Look at the AC130 for example. This thing will destroy ANYTHING on the ground, yet without support it will get shot down super easily. Also it is super easy as an arm chair general saying "just shoot it with an rpg7". If that tank actually fires on your position also with other troops attacking simultaneously you wouldn't dare stick your head out of the trench and take an accurate shot with that rpg over more than a mile. And don't think those tanks will "melee" your position. They will outrange your RPG most of the times. Especially with modern tanks beeing able to shoot and move at the same time hitting that thing with an RPG is super unlikely. But keep gaming!
@@Darkbribe09 Not that I wanna dissaproove on anything you sayd. Its ALL correct! But that all changed when drones started exploding and from the vids on Ukraine front. Drones are outperforming tanks for 3 years now! Drones know about a tank way sooner then the other way around
@ But to be fair thats the name of the game. Thats why you see next gen tanks or IFVs or other systems are carying anti drone systems. Even if you ram in 20 drones into a tank to demolish it, it will still be worth it. There is a new threat on the battlefield and new answers need to be found - but thats basically the history of warfare in a nutshell. It is unfair to say that tanks will be useless in the future. I would like to compare this to submarines. Early in world war 2 the german submarines caused havoc in the oceans and could do whatever they wanted. Then radar was a thing and suddenly the hunters became the hunted. Did this stop submarine warfare or the development for newer submarines? Nowadays we have high tech submarines that are basically only vulnerable when they are in the shipyard on maintenance, otherwise they are silent killers as they used to be in early WW2. In my opinion tanks will also develop the same way, so they can fend of drones in the future. Be it by electronic warfare or having some automated small caliber anti air system on board.
10:31 the worst thing about leopard is weight cutting. E.g Turret ammo rack is isolated by aluminium doors. I ve seen few pics of these doors melted after ammo cookoff crew propably didnt had a chance to leave vehicle
You really think the engineers are stupid? These doors do melt but not immedeately in a cookoff but after longer heat exposure in a burning tank. The crew has long bailed when the temperature across the entire thickness of the door is high enough to start melting it. Otherwise they might aswell not have doors at all. 09:05 Correction: The Saudis never operate Leopard 2, as the order of these vehicles were cancelled by the Saudi government due to the rejection by the German government's Bundessicherheitsrat which originally approve the sale of 200 vehicles all because of the autocratic nature of the Saudi Arabian state and its involvement in repressing popular protests in the neighbouring country of Bahrain. In addition to Criticism also came from within the Chancellor Angela Merkel's government coalition, and later from within KMW. Thus the contract was never finalized. In 2016, the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Germany stated that Saudi Arabia was no longer interested in purchasing Leopard tanks and suggested that the issue was being exploited for internal political gain.
