Thank you for this! We have a 2014 and this video was 100% relevant. We used the dome light in a parking garage and the driver pulled out of the garage in bright sunlight while the passenger was destracted. Had a total brain fart on follow up. Car sat in garage 5 days without being started. 🤦🏻♀️ Lessons learned. Thank you thank you thank you. We got her started back up and will be very careful with that done light from now on.

You can buy any jumper pak. If you didn't leave anything on than yes you need to replace the battery. Lighting pak is a good brand

Its a Tackling jumper. Worked great. Red on positive in fuse box under red clip. Next bolt on frame behind fuse box.

Hello sir, so I have 2014 toyota prius and I left the back seat lights on all night and when I wanted to start the car to drive two days after it won’t even have any lights or cat noise , so my question is will the main battery be recharged again? Or do I have to change the whole thing ?
I have a 2010 prius it's doing that right now not starting up I will learn to jump this car if it kills me...

My 2012 Prius was overheating. I had a head gasket leak. So I changed the water pump cleared the codes and went for a drive. Everything was fine then I noticed the car was in EV mode and the gas engine shut off. The car died and wouldn't start. So I got towed and I disconnected that heavy white clip in the fuse box. someone said that this will clear the computer because the computer detected a issue within the charging system. So I did that and was so happy that the car started right up but now when I drive it, it happens all the time after driving 5 to 10 miles.
Head gasket leak handled by changing water pump?
The older model 04 05 06 07 08 you reboot by un plugging the white connectors from positive side of the 12 volt battery then plug back in and engine should start.

Same for an 01? I'm frustrated and freaking out a bit. I'm out of town and can't get my car started at all. Its cold where I am too. Lights are super dim.

Only change the battery once you have thoroughly tested it or had it tested and verified it really is toast. Batteries can also be refurbished and there are videos on that here on UA-cam.
My 2010 prius turns on(electrical) but the engine wont turn on. I had to let AAA tow it. What do you think problem is?
My 12-volt discharged; I got it jumped but I'm getting that "Malfunction -- put it onto flat surface (it already is) & parking brake" message. I've run it for 90+ minutes thinking I'd override it but I THINK I may have to unload everything in it to get to the 12-volt in the back, to disconnect it for awhile & then connect it again. Is that likely what I'll have to do in order to get past that 'flat surface' message so I can put it in gear? Is there any way to get the effect of "disconnecting the 12-volt" from the front access in engine compartment? Or any amount of letting it run & charge that will override that message (3 hours? 4? I'd do anything to avoid unloading the car to reach the 12-volt....)?
You can open the fuse compartment (just as he shows in this video, back right corner under hood). You will see a heavy white cable there, can't miss it. You can disconnect that cable (carefully), which disconnects the 12v battery in the back without having to unload everything from the back as you say. Leave this disconnected for 30 seconds then plug it back in. Has the effect of a reboot for the car. This has saved me 2-3x when I have had trouble starting my 2011 Prius. It has even eliminated the 'triangle of death' when it was not a valid iindicator.

So did you change the battery? Mine did the same yesterday. Also my indicator and seat belt sound is usually off, sometimes I hear it but most of the times no sound for that.
We had our battery checked after this happened to us twice in 106 degree heat. The dealer said it was good. But now, it won’t start again. I am going to go try this method and hope it works.!!

Hi I hav a 04 prias,I hav a similar problem,it starts in the morning and evening,but during the day it can take ages to start,the park green light flashes,but I get no 0 on the screen to move,it's like I can hear a humm of power like a lil fan,,any ideas ,it costs €350 for a battery but if I'm wrong I'm stuck with the battery,any help be greatful ,thanks

Me too replaced the 12 volt battery and then it ended up sitting for 2weeks now nothing .. I can jump it off but when I shut it off there's nothing even after driving it around .

Did you check that your panel brightness switch on the left is turned up if it's turned down your lights on the dash will not illuminate and cabin light is always dim

Hello! Please I need your help! I have a 2006 Toyota Prius. My husband changed the battery in the back, the car turned on quickly and then my husband turned it off and tried to turn it back on and nothing...dead as dead can be. What can we do or could be the cause? I would appreciate any help!
So this can be a few things. Battery installed backwards, new battery is bad or bad connection
This is what’s happening to my car! I changed the battery , and it started for a bit but I turned it off and now I’m trying to get groceries and the car is like dead, none of the lights turn on, the key is in the keyhole but no lights ? My catalyc comverter got stolen on my 2009 prius.. I drove like that for less than 2 miles and got red triangle with exclamation point on it. When that happened car started to loose power and eventually died on me:( right now I have it at a muffler shop where they will put another catalyc converter on but car still does not turn on..when I press on power button all the lights come on with rd d triangle like if car it's on but engine not on. Lights, radio and power windows work . The windows are slow though so I don't know if battery it's dying. If I remember I have one purple bar. Also keep getting a message about something that car needs to be on flat surface and something about the transmission .
A while back it completely died on my while I was changing the passenger mirror, after I was done I gave it a jump and everything was good. This time it won't move from one purple bar even after a jumped it
You probably ran out of gas. Or fuel pump might went bad. And you need to unlock it

Check your 12 v battery. Exacly the same thing was happening to me. It turned out my 12v battery was reading 11.7:( I changed it and now car runs great .however iam really thinking on getting rid of prius cause it will be a matter of time for them to steal cat again

@@JaboTheMechanic I'm very sorry I didnt get back.p1118 came up it's the heat sensor. So I replaced it.now all position come up but check ,abs ,traction all those are on and I put to power it comes green until I push brake to start nothing happens no longer green.thank you for your last response

My Prius totally no start/sounds/or light after sitting for three month. Heavy duty Jumper didn't do anything. Any suggestions?
Sounds like high voltage battery totally discharged. Check Prius firums as I dont have answer for that.
I couldn't jump mine either, I had to crawl in the back jimmy open the hatch, remove and replace battery (the normal 12v one)
After solving this problem problem my car shown this sign
We have a 2005 prius...suddenly stopped. No dash lights, does not turn on, as in dead car. 12v battery ok...hybrid batteries also good. 3 mechanics already checked and no one was able to fix it. Changed the inverter, 2x. Nothing Changed all fuses. Changed integration relay. Nothing.
Replace 12v battery anyway mine tested fine too, I replaced with one with slightly more cc amps and no more problems. Also mice love these cars, check for damage along your wiring from the battery

On first press my radio is on, on second press my dashboard is on but on third press my car wont start. Can you help please. PS Battery is good, cell in smart key is ok, starter relay is ok. There is direct current on terminal 30. Thanks.

@@JaboTheMechanic Yes. but it does not connect. It says communication failed and that the device has stopped working.
Try another scanner if that doesn't work than check your fuses if all fuses are good you damaged the ecm

my prius 2010 (old shape) switches on when started but wouldn't change to D mode or ready mode.
I replaced the battery(12V), the scan doesnt highlight any issues, but after i remove the positive battery terminal and apply it back, it sometimes help in bringing car to D or ready mode.
I ve had it inspected by so many mechanics but the issue persists and has really disturbed me, please if you could help?

if the car is intermittently doing something, or the door light is coming on then your car is IN FACT turning on.... totally irrelevent video for the topic.
You made the title of your video like you did some troubleshooting. Jumpstarting a battery is not that hard.
