Just an fyi: i spoke with my local prius service center recently about where to attach the negative cable if it wasn't long enough to reach the bolt on the far side of the engine that is usually recommended. I asked about attaching them to the frame and was told in very firm tones never to attach to the frame. I was told that doing so creates unpredictable paths for the current flow and that the current can jump to the computer system and totally fry the computer. I was told the safest place to attach the negative if you can't reach the recommended bolt is the top bolt supporting the shock on top of the wheel well. As i said, just an fyi...
Thank you so much for caring enough to reach out to everybody and tell us that. These cars get expensive with batteries and no one needs to fry their computer. Very grateful for your caring attitude and help thank you so much
My battery is so dead (just out of nowhere) that even after a jump it won't crank back up again. I called the place I got it from and realized it was just about 7 years to the day when I bought it. So, I'll buy another and replace it myself. I already saw your other video about replacing the battery so I'm good to go now. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip about shutting off all power-draining options in the car (radio, lights, etc.). This is a 2014 (75,000 miles). I replaced the battery just because (at 68000 miles). I had an accident a year ago, and the rear hatch needs a very firm closing. Maybe that is what is causing the drain. I will check the rear hatch and charge.
We like the shock tower bolt for the ground. It's beyond that red terminal and just under the wiper thingy. Just test it for some spark with the jumper. Other bolts show no signs of life. They are not dependable grounds. (ground is the negative pole on the battery. They always use the whole car as ground instead of running individual wires everywhere. One positive wire and ground to the body, and you've made a good connection.
My good friend I have a little accident and my 2014 toyota prius V hybrid not turn on the engine passenger side air bag "on". The toyota dealler said need a codes for turn on they not make this job, how I can turn on? I appreciate you info. To me and my God bless you. Thankoscar calderon
So I checked the air conditioning and what I noticed is in the electric motor at the front that there is a mini jerk when moving between the change from the electric motor to the combustion motor, it seems that this transition from one to the other has a small bad contact or wear. of a piece of equipment responsible for the exchange. I didn't find anything about how this exchange occurs, if you can check, that's the problem. I noticed that when you make this jerk and turn on the lights, there are problems with the panel or when opening the doors, probably due to the reset via the white cable from the fuse panel. In short, it is something between an electronic and a combustion engine. When the hybrid's batteries are charging normally, I cleaned the zinabre and is working perfectly after maintenance. And the 12v battery is new, I replaced it.
Mine did not show that display. It shows all the other lights on the dashboard. Touch screen completely black. I got a jump, had it hooked up for about 10-15 minutes. Then attempted to turn on. Navigation screen turned on. But transmission did not want to engage. Waited 5 minute(with car off but still hooked up). Power the car on, and transmission worked. Assuming I have a low battery (12volt). 2014 Prius, fully loaded.
Toyota PriusV 2012 doesn’t show any display or light completely dead nothing has been showing. already tried jumper not work, should I replace the battery?
I would do the same thing by turning off all electrical drawing things then turn the key ignition. Is it confirmed your battery is low? Can you start your car with jumper cables hooked up to another car?
@@thecollegepicker Thanks! Battery is not low. I just replaced it not long ago. Sometimes it starts but sometimes it doesn't. All the other electronics work properly. I think it's the starter motor maybe.
Since the 12V controls everything related to the big 200V battery, it needs to supply a constant, solid voltage to all the sensors and relays. It is the first place to look when you have trouble. It can stop your car in mid-flight. It's also too small for all the things it needs to do. The electrical portion of these cars is, as you might imagine, complicated. That 12v battery powers all of it and your headlights and all the things on a normal car. The power windows, wipers, and all that. That stuff is a heavy electrical draw. Be smart. buy a jumper and leave it in the back. And get a good one. My Harbor Freight one is very marginal. It was cheap.
Same issue, but i don't get that "AUX BATTERY LOW / PARK IN FLAT PLACE" display. Same everything else though. Gonna get the aux battery checked first thing in the morning though. My Prius is a 2014 with 196k miles... it serves me very well otherwise though, and runs as it should. I love Priuses and when it comes time to get a new car, i'll just get another Prius.
I have question i got sick did start my car for 3 weeks and my battery died I hade it charged but when I try it says check hybrid system is there a way to start the car ? Please help

I connected to the battery in the back under the trunk floor side panel

Hi! My prius doesn’t light up at all- there seems a 60a fuse is missing? Only one is in there?😬

Why is the issue happing tho ? I tested my battery at autozone. Said the battery is good just needs charging ?
I am now having that same issue battery is tested and great cannot figure out why the car keeps not starting randomly..
You save my day!! Thank you!!!

Awesome fix thanks Eric 🎉

Is there a ink for the battery replacement yet?
Any idea how to fix this with a Prius that doesn't have an ignition button, but just a key turn ignition?
What model and year and country do you live in?
