LAFD Engine 64: Large Homeless Encampment/Van Fire
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 жов 2024
- Here you will see Los Angeles Fire Department Engine 64 working an early morning homeless encampment/van fire that occurred at the 800 block of west Imperial Highway.
Vermont Vista, Los Angeles, CA - 2/11/21
Loose chin straps, high-pressure concentrated flows hitting nearby surfaces without eye protection, three people (none with air or face protection) standing in the splashback zone - we generally use LAFD videos as training aids for what NOT to do.
LAFD and the city of Los Angeles can save money on expensive foam by switching to hillbilly foam. DDl foam. Dawn dish liquid. 5 gallon containers 60 bucks. Non toxic. Non corrosive and always clean. Puts a hot fires lights out. Experiment sometime. Do not mix the 2. Fumes.
Come on guys, where are the scba's???? its absolutely ridicules to be risking your own health in order to put out a garbage fire.
Here we see why they are called trash hooks.
And I am surprised no one has mentioned the total absence of cancer preventing SCBA in a dumpster like this.
Operating at a car fire without SCBA would be a suspendable offense in my opinion and if it happens again they would be sitting infront of a review board. LAFD should know better
Upwind, outdoors, mehh
@@leightongalleries6057 See 5:19. Also winds can change in quickly.
@@leightongalleries6057 Until the wind direction changes. I'll assume you're not very bright and leave it at that.
Maybe not, but I stand with the firefighters on the line, Let them do their job@@Madmac96
@@leightongalleries6057 They can do their job. Wearing the proper PPE. It takes seconds to put on your mask and hook up to air. You're not the one who may die from cancer in the future, due to breathing in toxic smoke for years. People like you comment on things you know nothing about. It makes you look like an ass to people who DO know what they're talking about.
LAFD doesn’t use SCBA? Hmmmm. Where’s CalOSHA?
why did they put it out?
A BC wouldn't be too happy seeing them w/o SCBAs.
Cannot believe they are not wearing it.
@@andyoxleyonhistravels I mean, I can get why they wouldn’t wear it, not a ton of smoke, pretty open area, good ventilation for said smoke, but yeah it’s SOP and all
Nor would their wives, kids and those who will miss them if cancer gets them. And all you have to do is use your scba.
@@ffandrewd2986 You don't only wear SCBA on vehicle fires because of the smoke. Most vehicles today are full of pressure systems like air bags, pre tensioners and the tyres as well. Wearing your SCBA protects your face from anything that flies your way when they go bang. Simple really to protect yourself.
@@andyoxleyonhistravels I know. I don’t like it either but I could see how they feel
Good footage 👍👍 & great job LAFD 🚒 department!!! Thanks for the video, keep up the good work!!!😀 Stubborn van 🔥!
Nice ppe
Nice work guys keep it up 🚒🧑🚒🇺🇸
Just the fact that is a homeless encampment I would have a SCBA on. You do not know what the person has in their encampment.
Where's their air packs? Eye protection does nothing while on the helmets.
No Bunker Gear On! UGH!! All that toxic smoke going into your lungs. That can't be good.
i would use a slight more of fog pattern instead of what he started with
That’s what you call urban renewal.
That's what I was thinking. Just get a bulldozer.
Jesus H. Christ... please tell me this was recorded in 1970 or something? There is no excuse for doing this shit without SCBA in today's world. EVERYBODY and their brother knows better. WTF?
Unfortunately, the PPE or lack thereof, rests completely on the shoulders of their captain. No SCBA's and wearing a wildland coat with turnout pants? Leadership comes from the top.
Get your tanks on and mask up. That’s some nasty stuff to breathe in.
SCBA next time..
I feel sorry for the homeowners who live next to this homeless ghetto.
SCBA ?
Self contained breathing apparatus.
Optional? 🤔😕
So where is your mask and eye protection................
they are full timers, they don't need to stinking mask or eye protection...........completely careless crew.
Is that a 1.5" attack line he's using?
en tant que vétéran des pompiers de Paris merci pour ces images qui me rappelle des souvenirs
No SCBAs, AND... they should have called for at least an LF to investigate for extension in the house with obvious burn damage. Bad call by the officer IC!!! At least they used foam, unlike 66 who NEVER uses it
Good catch...im starting to see more of these types of calls
It's a daily occurrence in LA
They need PPE on at least safety glasses .
This is probably your best fire footage this month! :)
Don't speak to soon as there is still two weeks left in February

-Be Safe 😎👍
Thank you!
On this end whenever there's a car fire or dumpster fire of the sort usually they're prepared for a potential body recovery
2021 and no SCBA... really bad.
A homeless musician freind of ours was killed in Las Angeles last year when somene set his shelter on fire with him in it. RIP brother D!
Sorry for your loss
Excellent work brother’s 🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒🚒
awesome video ty for sharing
Health before safety, some fire fighters weren’t wearing there correct ppe, that’s a shame on there department and did anyone see the old guy loss his rear tyre on his bike now that’s a bad day right there….
These guys egos are to big to put a breather on...

Great job
Themajestrium1 youtube. City of New York would not be in a hurry like you guys are.
I like to watch the one that plays with the bike.
What was the year of the Van?
Probably a late 90s model
So how did the fire start
Unknown cause
wow no scba
Living 'Comfort Eagle'.
What a waste of good water!
This looks like a third world cesspool. Sad. Be safe gents.
Well yes, it's California...
No problem, Biden will put them up at the Ritz.
Look forward to your video of that happening.
@@tonyshield5368 wait and see Tony wait and see. they're already paying $7,000 a month in San Francisco for the homeless per person to stay in hotels. and that's been on the news.
Politicians at work/doing nothing about the situation.
Whole lotta fire chiefs in the comments
Any of them WRONG???? It's clear you don't know anything about firefighting.

Why not just start throwing all the rest of the trash in the fire get it all done at once.
No scuba’s they don’t like their lungs. Very stupid FF’s
God bless our em wokers
Should have thrown more junk on the fire. Would have saved the tax payers from having to pay to clean it up later.
Wow
Bonjour a tous du Canada Imagine yours homeless and the little thing you have gone in smoke
maybe it's impossible to fall lower the that Goodluck every one concern
4:05 Gotta save dat bike
Jesus saves
The real problem are the shelters..they are disgusting and dangerous which is why folks feel safer outside in a tent
..and frankly i don't blame them..los angeles has more than enough money to build permanent housing for every single homeless person but they rather turn their eyes..so this is the result..enjoy it..
they actually built apartments in LA for unhoused people. Most would not go in because of the regimented living. There is a huge amount of distrust of government in the unhoused population because of all the historical trauma. This adds to why, as you say, they choose to live in outside shelter such as tents, rather than go in...
@@ronamatlow7716 yea actualkly its because they cant shoot up in housing,so they wont go in...
free wheel burning...lol....Judas Priest time 4.06
i womder if the person had someting in hideing and the best way to hide it burn it

D.D.L FOAM is second best. Just wash out the foam tank 100% then fill the tank up with dawn liquid soap detergent. And always keep space for 10 gallons of water for thinning. Will sludge on the top when air gets to it.
