Multiple Arrests and RV Towing in Homeless Encampment Operation at Venice Boulevard

- Venice, Los Angeles - January 31, 2024 - A significant joint operation was undertaken by the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. on Venice Boulevard in Venice, Los Angeles, targeting a homeless encampment. Three recreational vehicles (RVs) and one motorcycle were towed from the area. Prior to the towing, Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. drained the sewage tanks of the RVs, with an Environmental Officer from the City of Los Angeles overseeing the operation.
The operation resulted in multiple arrests, following an investigation that suggested potential non-compliance with regulations and outstanding legal matters. This cleanup initiative forms part of the broader city strategy to address homelessness and promote public health and sanitation.
Subsequent to the cleanup, a section of Venice Boulevard was closed for an upcoming construction project. Barricades were installed, and a notice from the Public Works - Bureau of Engineering was displayed, detailing the construction work involving the demolition of curb ramps, sidewalks, and curbs, as well as the installation of new light poles and underground work. The closure is anticipated to deter the return of RVs to this area, a subject of ongoing concern owing to the consistent presence and dwelling of RVs, a situation that has elicited numerous complaints from neighboring residents. The removal of the RVs garnered a positive reaction, evidenced by cheers and applause from the local community.
The cleanup operation saw the collaboration of two waste management units: the Department of Public Works and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. The teams, donned in yellow and orange vests, were focused on segregating hazardous from non-hazardous waste, ensuring a comprehensive cleaning process. The use of protective gear by the team underscored the city's commitment to worker safety.
Councilwoman Traci Park's Housing Coordinator played a crucial role in the coordination between various city departments, including the homeless encampment task force. Los Angeles Police Officers were present to ensure the safety and compliance of all parties involved, particularly the homeless community, focusing on maintaining cleanliness, hygiene standards, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Those vehicles should NOT have been allowed to stay there for more than 24 hours before being towed away. The owners should also have to pay for cleanup, arrested for stealing electricity, and put in a road crew for 6 months cleaning up other homeless encampments.
Cities ran by Democrats according to some out of state Trumpturds
Yes, this is normally what should be done, impounding these mobile homes with a large fine as a result for the incivility committed. We encounter the same problem in France with gypsies who occupy places where they can occupy the land (paying), but nevertheless prefer to occupy free places and mock the authorities because the law allows them a period of 15 days to evacuate the places that they leave most of the time in unacceptable states of dirt, it is then up to the municipalities to clean up, of course, at the expense of the taxpayer, which is already substantial in small municipalities! But fortunately it’s not yet up to par with the United States!
Those vehicles have been there for about 10 years. I lived in Venice 8 years ago
This is all the government fault
I can tell the neighbors are glad to see these things cleared out. They were probably getting their cars and homes broke into everyday and harassed by the occupants.
yes and they trash and take over the sidewalk areas- the public is not able to walk on them
Nazi
The citizens have to demand investigations or sue the city for not protecting the citizens they misuse of tax dollars. Recall the mayor and the city council members
But obviously the guy out there crying is a liberal Democrat and they are the one's that voted these laws and government into place 🤣
Was told a long time ago by someone living in their vehicle > never stay more than two nights in the same place. Have other spots around the city that you move to. If the residents don't see you >every-damn-day
FANTASTIS job. How are the unregistered RV's able to stay for so long anyway?? Why are they exempt from immediately being towed like cars??
I am in the bay area and can you tell you this - when you report an abandoned car to the city, the first question they ask is if the car appears to be lived in. If someone is living in it, they will not even come out to tag it. Likely the same in LA. These RV's probably had a court order to remove them which takes months. California politics at its finest.
I should have read your comment more closely. I had the exact same reaction when I saw these vehicles.
@@its-all-good that makes me wonder if community members can hire private lawyers to get requests filed with the court quicker.
Maybe its their primary residence.???? Who knows? If a working man gets stopped without tags, you are towed., If you have any outstanding tickets you cant get insurance.
@@DadeMurphie Good thought. I am not certain but it seems as this may be an option. A problem is, and, as with this clean-up seen here, they will be replaced by another groups of junked RV's or cars in a week or so if not sooner. Community members would have to pay up again and again when we already have laws and codes on the books to prevent this from happening. 6 - 10 years ago, if someone parked a car and it was reported abandoned it would be tagged and towed given 48 hours if not moved. The people causing this chaos have more rights than those they are impacting. What a mess.
That has to be at least a $10,000 dollar clean up cost for the tax payers to pay. It's a shame we live in a society were we have so many homeless people in our country but still have billions to spend to save everyone else on the globe.
No money for us billions export Ed to other country 4 war!!😢

Too many millions to provide ( "Tax Payer ") services to. Thanks to " Border Czar " harris & surrogates.😈.
They’re not immigrants they’re illegals. Immigrants do it the right way by getting permission doing paperwork and not living off of the citizens taxes. My cousin used to work for immigration. @@stephenbroughman3231it depends where they are coming from? If Venezuelans, they are criminals ( most of them) Maduro let them out of jail with the promise they would not stay in Venezuela but would migrate to the USA! Same for Haiti and Muslims
Great job well done. Return the streets to the people who live & pay taxes in CA. Not drug addicts etc.
This is good for the neighborhood but idk where they expect these people to go.
IDK… I’m not blind to the fact that with homelessness there’s also an increase of drugs, trash and unsanitary conditions. But it blows my mind that we have so many resources devoted towards these cleanups (in many states), yet we have thousands of homeless crossing our borders every day. Adding to these conditions as well as possible security threats. 🤷🏻♂️🥺
Those skud bottom transits are also unsanitary/therefore a health hazard-!!!😳
Here in S Oregon, the woods are infested with non driveable RVs that have 3 layers of blue tarp for roofing. Most have cali plates. The area surrounding them looks like a landfill and smells like a pig farm. When they get too bad to live in, they (and the trash) are abandoned and they find anther RV somewhere to restart the cycle.
Elections have consequences! People keep voting for the same lawless loving liberal douchbags!
Gotta love the “no parking” sign there and these mutts have been there for 2 years!
What an enormous use of police resources...crazy.

What a great idea, a UA-cam channel for California clean-up. Now on to Sacramento
IT IS ABOUT TIME. Law and Order FINALLY REINSTATED.
Best not to park your rv in front of people paying $4,000 a month in rent. That makes them angry and that rv is the easiest target for them to take their anger out on.
7:40 "Shitter was full" 😊
Beautiful Officer Contreras in the house! She’s too cool…and cute. Can you ask her to say hi to all her fans on here? We need a closeup. Those nasty sewage containers in the RVs probably haven’t been emptied ever. That is nuclear level hazardous waste at this point.
They like to just empty them into storm drains on the street. It's a major contributor to the unsafe swimming conditions at the beach which they don't like to advertise. They are letting tourists and locals swim in fentanyl poo water. Other places would have massive signs and would shutdown their beaches with the same quality.
@@DadeMurphie oh geez. That is so disgusting. I remember one time in Venice seeing how brown the water was while our friend was jumping around in it. Then we noticed a big sewer drainage pipe tight by there. It was nasty. Knowing that a lot of it is that toxic waste from RVs makes it even worse.
With all money they spend. They could pay there rent àt any hotel in Santa Monica.

Well looks to me they moved them out for construction according to the sign🤦🏼♀️ If they have been parked there for 2 years that is insane.
It's sad, because u know someone was sleeping in these motorhomes, now thell be on the street😪
33:35 That garbage truck was registered in IOWA!!
Bout time, why all this action being taken after years of inaction?
bcus of COVID the democratic pres and leaders decided to give all these people a 'break' as they claimed so much unemployment, the fear of spreading covid..etc....NOW IT IS back to business and enforcement of rules
They need to cut the free money off and the people who need help should have to pass random drug screens and if they are able people they should have to do so many hours of community service to get benefits. I couldn't imagine walking out my front door to this filth. This probably cost taxpayers 50k to clean this little stretch of street and sidewalk.
Cop looks like he has never put a pair of handcuffs on.
It's a difficult situation for the RV dwellers. I hope shelter and services were provided to them. But the streets must be kept clean and safe for the public.
I dont see how it is difficult, it's not like the city didn't post notice after notice for them to vacate weeks in advance and they still ignored the warnings...as if this was just sprung on them out of nowhere...
It's a situation of their own choosing fueled by stupidity, laziness and entitlement. For RVers it was an easy situation for far too long. They got to live rent free less than a mile from the beach. They should have had plenty of money to keep those RVs in working order since they had no rent or mortgage to worry about. They should have been able to just drive those things away after receiving notice.
They're drug havens!!! Use your head!!!
@DadeMurphie Keep helping illegals then. They are coming for your house.
of course they were offered. that is what the tall Black lady with red hair does. she helps and encourages them to get housing. and with all her hard work she finds out they are kicked out -as usual- for not abiding by rules.
The cops are like: “We said no RVs and no encampments here. You all came back. Now, leave, and don’t come back again!”
These people probably had homes before and got taxed out. Just like everyone else it just not your turn yet
such beautiful expensive homes in that area and the streets haven't bee repaved in a long time.
I'm not sure that whatever comes out of those RVs belongs in containers marked "Not For Hazardous Material"
Jeez how much bureaucracy does it take to remove three junk motor homes? Got 20+ people standing around, a few doing actual work.
Are the guys that come in and clean prisoners or city workers?
Bro stop calling them bums.
The politicians say they unhoused people
I got tired of saying it, but if they did routine warrant checks, this problem wouldn't exist or it would be greatly diminished. 75% of people on the streets have warrants for one thing or another. Many from Probation and Parole.
The RVs have a price tag on them. It’s a lack of knowledge and resources for the owner that got ‘‘em stuck in that situation. Police are seeing something like this as a road hazard. And the
neighbors just want a bully. They don’t really care. One option you have is to abandon your RV. And none of this would have happened. There are other options too.
Okay see you all next week! lol!
After these arrests and towing away the RV’s new squatters will be taking over this street.
Know one reads this , we need this in Oakland. It's out of the cities hands .
What did they do wrong
People like that give homeless folk a bad name.
How do the owners of these derelict RVs figure out how to drag them around the city, park them where they’ll be undisturbed until the City finally decides to do something about them? They must know that they can easily avoid enforcement for plenty of time to make a lot of money renting them. What a racket! Where do they find them? There must be RV graveyards where these things are just lying around waiting to be hauled to LA to be rented.
My money would be on them being connected to the scrap industry. It can supply broken down RVs and then they can also buy all the stolen bike parts and scrap metal from their tenants at dirt cheap prices that they flip instantly.
They have them towed to there.
Enough!
If I paid $3-$4 million for a home in that area I'd be really angry.
Can you imagine the septic tanks have not been empty for 2 years in those RVs. The smell must have been awful!
Ah, the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Omg those plants that are growing along the wall probably been pissed on and really stinky since
They have everything given to them and they want more
They can sleep at night but have to leave at dawn and keep moving. No encampments allowed.
Shame on Governor Newsom! He gave these people years to get nice and comfortable there and now he has the nerve to make them get up and move? How cruel😂
