I got the privilege to sign up for Ryan's masterclass years ago and cannot be more grateful about how game-changing it was for me as a creative and producer. Inspiring, humble and so full of references, this videos are pure gold for the creatives in the music field.
YES! Music from 2013 - 2014 always makes me feel nostalgic. Off the top of my head, there's Clarity, Mirrors, Wrecking Ball, We Can't Stop, Stay the Night, Burn, Pompeii, and A Sky Full of Stars, to name a few.
I truly believe Ryan Tedder is the greatest pop genius of all time. There is no better hit maker than him, and it's never only catch but he always adds his sensitive touch that is instantly recognizable.
Ryan has amazing energy, right? I was amped throughout the entire video. I was totally engaged with every word as he explained the story and the process.
I love when real musician break down their songs and you can see the whole process of creating a tune. It's amazing all the time, the inspiration and the efort they make to make music. Love it
The "Multi-artist" collaboration that he's talking about works for Consultants, Engineers, and Automation Process teams in supply chains. We need more people to spend time in other areas of their industry, or better yet, a different industry doing similar processing of widgets.
This was incredible to watch! I'm a big fan of both Ryan and Guetta, but when this song came out, I had mixed feelings, especially since Guetta has released several interpolation-type tracks over the past few years that some may call cheesy. I love that Ryan addressed his and Guetta's concerns with that because it proves that they actually wanted to try hard to do the sample right instead of trying to just cash out on a quick buck. Keep these coming!
I understand what you mean but from two superstars and game-changing artists like Guetta & Ryan Tedder this is the bare minimum, when you pick a riff that is from an hit, a rhytm that is from an hit and you are Guetta & Ryan you are forced to make a banger. I'm not blaming them but they know they crossed that line and did their work. Less effort and a lot of revenues.
Despite the criticism, I really like “I Don’t Wanna Wait.” Having seen people older than me listening to older songs and coming across as being old, it’s not something I sort of want to be stuck with as I’m getting older. I’ve come really appreciate these modern remakes of classic songs because it no longer feels like I’m a boom stuck listening to some old tracks. I’m glad that there’s been a wave of new remakes of nostalgic songs. It’s refreshing to see a new face on an old body.
Calling(Lose my Mind ) is still one of my favorite songs. When's the next collab with Alesso and Sebastian Ingrosso coming?I know you guys teased us with a future collab...
If I lose myself has to be one of the best edm songs of the edm era alesso the collab with alesso was perfect I do also like the original but that remix was something else
FOR "I DON'T WANNA WAIT" I HAVE ACTUALLY REMIXED IT!! I DONT KNOW IF RYAN OR DAVID WILL CHECK! BUT I REALLY LOVED IT! ITS IN THE MIXING STAGE, SO WILL BE PUTTING IT OUT SOON!!!
Not him talking about 'If I Lose Myself' and then showing another song right after... I guess that song was big here, bc Alesso and acts like the Swedish House Maffia, Martin Garrix, all these EDM producers, were massive around that time.
everyone thought it was cheesy after the debut at ultra. the fact he confirmed that guetta just lazily looks for old 90 songs to remake made me lose a bit of respect for him
Actually this I Don't Wanna Wait songs is so corny and cheap that I'm always shocked that you're a part of it. Anyway, it was nice to dive into Counting Stars.
These Behind The Song interviews blow my mind! They’re so cool and insightful to watch.
Keep them comin’ Variety!!!

Counting stars was iconic idk what in that era people made bangers but they will never age
YES! Music from 2013 - 2014 always makes me feel nostalgic. Off the top of my head, there's Clarity, Mirrors, Wrecking Ball, We Can't Stop, Stay the Night, Burn, Pompeii, and A Sky Full of Stars, to name a few.
@@Bem-0 it was the best time to be young wild and free how they say it in another classic
The late 2000s and early 2010s was one of the best eras for radio music.
musicians have been making bangers every single year since like... forever
this shit was corny at the time and now it is even more
He actually offers some really solid advice for creatives in this 🎶
I truly believe Ryan Tedder is the greatest pop genius of all time. There is no better hit maker than him, and it's never only catch but he always adds his sensitive touch that is instantly recognizable.
False. Max martin is the real goat
@@drk1825 Max Martin is great, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't have an instantly recognizable touch like Ryan does. Or Timbaland does.
"Counting stars" is one of those generational pop songs, such powerful instrumentals and lyrics!
Best time of my life
Ryan has amazing energy, right? I was amped throughout the entire video. I was totally engaged with every word as he explained the story and the process.
Still an absolute classic years later- Seriously don't think my childhood would be my childhood without this song
It's kinda bizarre and really awesome having to experience a pro explaining their process for free :)
Whenever I hear the songs that are written by Ryan, which are sang by other artists, i kinda feel like it gives the One Republic vibez🎉❤
8 year old me is screaming right now 😂❤ nostalgia ✨
I was 18

Ryan has never looked better. He could say he's in his mid-20's and I'd believe him.
Variety, you are legends for posting this. And Ryan, you are a genius.
Such a cool thing seeing how these songs were made. Counting Stars is still one of my favourite songs, and I Don't Wanna Wait has really grown on me!
It’s a copy of “ O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei” search it up

@@ashusings1792 I love that song too! Remember growing up watching the music video
@@techbaffle Dont know how he is getting away with it 😂
Ryan is one of my favorite guys in music. His versatility and knowledge of the technical is very hard to come by.

5:45 - Exactly. Wonderful.
Timeless song!!
I always confused OneRepublic with One Direction 😂
Respect. I had no idea how talented this dude is.
OneRepublic is 🇺🇸
One Direction is 🇬🇧

I love these breakdown videos! 🙌🏽👏🏽
Love these behind the scenes videos about his production processes. Ryan has found his promo niche!

Woahhhh this was recorded all around the world!!!! So frickin cool
WE LOVE RYAN TEDDER 🔥🔥🗣️
i love him so much
He shouldn’t have said he’s wearing his shortest shorts… now I’ve missed the essence of the video and must watch it again 😂
How did he have a love hate relationship with his voice. Hes such a good singer.
We loved OneRepublic growing up in high school the college 😂
Genius - 2 great tracks
The chorus of "I Don't Wanna Wait" is also the chorus of the sampled original O-Zone song, not the verse
This exactly! I was confused when he called it a verse. It's pretty known that the part they sampled is the chorus.
Pure nostalgia 💙
Calling(Lose my Mind ) is still one of my favorite songs. When's the next collab with Alesso and Sebastian Ingrosso coming?I know you guys teased us with a future collab...
the david guetta impression was so on point 😂
By the way your songs are exellent!!!

I still love the “the look” 😢
10:42 It's the same synth that Lady Gaga clearly used in Poker Face and Just Dance. Make more songs with these sounds 2009/2010 🙏🏻

Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch sounds just like your song!!!
if a variety rep sees this, FK YA MORE OF THESE WOOOOO I EAT THESE FOR BREAKFASTG LUNCH DINNER THANK YOUY
His french English is so accurate 😂
Unpopular opinion: It indeed sounded cheesy. To the point like some random FL Studio EDM producer. Love his other stuffs tho
everyone thought it was cheesy after the debut at ultra. the fact he confirmed that guetta just lazily looks for old 90 songs to remake made me lose a bit of respect for him
Man who make that desk, its perfect, wonder if its a custom build..
which daw is he using
It seems like the things we worry about no one seems to notice.
His vocals when he sings low omg... sexy ❤
Bro traveled the world and worked with like 100 people to make this one song! Thats wild!
What was your take on the Hardwell & Olly James remix? I feel like they incorporated more of the Numa Numa synth from the original.
(7)❤☘ You've outdone yourself with this one! ❤☘

Yeah agreed I thought i was the only ond
Damn you’re right -- it does sound…cheap 😂😂 too generic
I mean look at these dudes
Check out the “band version” under one republic. I find it better. There was just something about this normal version I’m not into not sure what
@richiemcguigan1216 the band version is so much better but I enjoy the regular as well ngl
