Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant star in this captivating romantic comedy that swept the Ten Best Lists and was named the Best Picture of the Year by the Golden Globes®. Based on Jane Austen's classic novel, SENSE AND SENSIBILITY tells of the Dashwood sisters, sensible Elinor (Thompson) and passionate Marianne (Winslet), whose chances at marriage seem doomed by their family's sudden loss of fortune. Rickman, Grant and Greg Wise co-star as the well-intentioned suitors who are trapped by the strict rules of society and the conflicting laws of desire.

Emma Thompson should have won the Oscar for this magnificent performance!

I agree!! Did you know she also wrote the screenplay for this movie? At least she won an Oscar for that.

I thought for a moment that Elinor was going to start eating Marianne's hand in that last scene! 😂
It was a very touching scene. I have a sister and I can't imagine losing her. 💔

Austen knew how to give us examples of how destructive limerance is.

@@di3486 Your statement makes me wonder, if you think we were better of without passion in love?

@@ingeabrahamsen4684 Passion is transient. Love that lasts a last time is composed of much more important things.

Yes, I agree with that. Psychologically it must be so.
Becaurse passion between two people usually lifts you up in a place, where you can't get any higher, so the only way you can go from there is down.
But my goodness, don't you think everyone should be allowed to experience this high, at least once in their life? :)
