Actually, as much as Hitler claimed to hate socialism, his ECONOMIC (as opposed to military or social) policies DID include elements of socialism -- an extensive public welfare system, the right for trade unions to collectively bargain with corporations (but without the right to strike), great public works to be built at taxpayer expense, a compulsory labor force to build these, etc., etc. So you CANNOT claim that he was 100% anti-socialist, because he WASN'T!

I've a question about building factories. Does distance from the action matter? If playing Russia for instance would building factories far from harms way be good? Or does the goods need to be transported?
Rehabilitated military might refer to Stalin’s purge of the military in 1937, sent a lot of officers to the Gulag and had to call many back once Germany invaded. That might be what it means
This is the game I have been looking for. But studying advanced micro economics and trying to learn this game at the same time. That deserves a noble price.
Accidentally clicking Soviet Union might have actually worked out for the best talking about National Focuses, since they actually a really deep political tree to look at Really, I love how nicely Focuses can help power up a nation in a way that strengthens its identity. For example, the US political focuses ultimately all revolve around juggling foreign relations and getting out of the Great Depression, and all the while needing to appease Capitol Hill when making any “spicy” decisions, like taking a focus to allow for limited conscription
Because I've played a bunch of civ I thought I would at least somewhat understand this game but oh my god not at all. First game with Germany I tried to take the Sudetenland following real history and I got taken over by Czech Slovakia 😭 didn't even make it to 1939. Thanks for this series, such a necessity for a new player
You have a focus in your tree, which allows you to get Sudetenland basically without a war(90% of the time). It's literally called "Demand Sudetenland"
Some very niece question maybe, but how come your icons for you different pre sets, when you train units... I dont have those nor can I find them. They are all envelopes with me.
what's the best strategy for factories? I've started producing as many civ factories as possible for the first few years and then doing infrastructure and mils, is this right?
Thanks for the walk thru Quill, very helpful. Is there a ratio of civ to mil factories I should attempt to achieve early game? I understand the value of the civ factory but don't want to use up too many slots that I will need for mil factories later in the game.
Most people build civs early game and then make military factories. Unless you desperately needs guns and are gunna be attacked/ go to war early you should do civs early game, the mils. Once you conquer territories you will over time/resistance laws will be able to get their factories as well.
Rehab military is down to the purge, during initial purge against Trotskyite’s various friends of Stalin tipped him towards believing the military to be a hotbed of radical Trotskyite thought. There was also some jealousy and personal malice from some of Stalin’s henchmen towards certain generals (for example Tukhachevsky was a great armoured warfare theorist who was up there with Patton, Guderian, Hobart etc for deep armour operations, but he annoyed Voroshilov, Stalin’s pal, so he got convicted on false charges and shot). The purge of the military basically eradicated vast swathes of the officer corps, all the expertise, experience, theorists and skilled officers either murdered or packed off to Vorkuta or somewhere equally terrible. It also made the lucky survivors absolutely terrified of the leadership. The result of all this is probably obvious, in 4yrs time when the Germans invaded the Red Army was both led by inexperienced officers terrified of mistakes, or senior officers who were not willing to use their initiative in case Stalin had them shot and so the first few months of Barbarossa were a bloody retreat. A few hasty pardons had to be written to bring back condemned or gulaged officers - Rokossovsky, for example, who went on to be one of their greatest generals. Unfortunately the murdered ones, like Tukhachevsky were lost forever.
@quill18 Brother I really have got a vibe for HOI after this video , can you suggest any chat group where i can address my problems i face while playing the game ? Sorry , I am a super newbie to this game.
i started playing yesterday as the usa currently 1945 with about 150 divisons in the netherlands facing about 500 german divions while trying a d-day we still hold
what do you mean you need equipment to train? in Soviet Russia you don't even need equipment to be deployed, or at the very least you get 1 rifle for every 2 men.
add unit means something like "create unit" when you human resources are available ? i sorta dont understand what is "add unit" (not translation bud funcition)... bc lets say you have 1 mil waiting people, so you CANT hit buton "add unit" infinity times... right ? can somebody explain ? .
Ok so when training units the Add Unit allows for more units being built in one time. So say you produce an Infantry Division and you hit Add Unit 4 more times, then when they are done training, 5 units will be produced around the same time. Now the the plus and minus signs means how many iterations of the process you want. So if you hit the plus 2 times it will train 5 units, and then when those finish it will make 5 more. Note that the training type depends on your equipment and manpower. If both are satisfied then how many X amount of units you queue up will deploy at around the same time. Phew, Hope's this helps!

Accidentally clicking Soviet Union might have actually worked out for the best talking about National Focuses, since they actually a really deep political tree to look at
Really, I love how nicely Focuses can help power up a nation in a way that strengthens its identity. For example, the US political focuses ultimately all revolve around juggling foreign relations and getting out of the Great Depression, and all the while needing to appease Capitol Hill when making any “spicy” decisions, like taking a focus to allow for limited conscription
Whats this aloomimum that the aircraft are made of? :)

Thank u for ur tutorials i understand every thing
Confusion cleared up. Thanks... :)
Then like irl I suppose than you can just take the rest of the country with ease?
Zoldic Random If you do the focus tree you should never have to fight Czechoslovakia at all
Some very niece question maybe, but how come your icons for you different pre sets, when you train units... I dont have those nor can I find them. They are all envelopes with me.
what's the best strategy for factories? I've started producing as many civ factories as possible for the first few years and then doing infrastructure and mils, is this right?
Thanks, fantastic tutorial, I was smashed by the complexity of the game but after the second video I can't wait to go back in :)
Once you conquer territories you will over time/resistance laws will be able to get their factories as well.
when do we get to play?
My son (11) started playing this recently, now. How did you start with 38 convoy?
Will the factory you traded belong to the other countries forever? Or is some time like until the convoy reaches back? Or just a fixed amount of time?
How did people play games before Quill18 tutorials?
@19:39 I think you meant "crazy politics in the USSR" not "UK" but then again.... :D Thank's man seriously great tutorial!
What am I doing wrong? After selecting country and war goal it never advances to war. Can you please help?
If you are researching something that takes 100 days and you have a free research slot can you assign the same research so it speeds up ?
No
Generally speaking...this is a very good video.
Can you also export your excess products? Like steel ?
If you set up a trade route does the resource keep importing until you stop it?
Today I shall start Hearts of Iron for the first time... 3.5 hours and seven videos later... I shall try the tutorial soon.
Love the video. In-game music too loud.
This helps a lot. Thanks!
@quill18 Brother I really have got a vibe for HOI after this video , can you suggest any chat group where i can address my problems i face while playing the game ? Sorry , I am a super newbie to this game.
Should you trade more early on for the Axis to build up a reserve for when you lose trade routes?
Except for fuel you don't really build up a stock of anything, so it's better to just use your factories to build things.
i dont get civilian factories, couldn't i just build as many as i want? its not giving me a limiter so idk
Thanks for this I really needed it
Líneas de producción, como entrenar divisiones, focus trees, insuficiencia de recursos.
I just remember the first country I played was Tibet. I'm not sure I could have picked a worse start
i started playing yesterday as the usa currently 1945 with about 150 divisons in the netherlands facing about 500 german divions while trying a d-day we still hold
I am learning this game before I buy
Thank you bro very helpful
what do you mean you need equipment to train? in Soviet Russia you don't even need equipment to be deployed, or at the very least you get 1 rifle for every 2 men.
add unit means something like "create unit" when you human resources are available ? i sorta dont understand what is "add unit" (not translation bud funcition)... bc lets say you have 1 mil waiting people, so you CANT hit buton "add unit" infinity times... right ? can somebody explain ?
Thanks for these tuts!
just realized you could be Canadian jack black if you committed to saying shit like scootch hahahaahahaha
Thank you so much!!
