Your boiling pot is only filled halfway so the metal transfer the heat to the top with lower half being colder at 220f. As you pour water, it hits the hotter top part and boils instantly (sizzles). Just boil the water slower (lower flame) and you won't have that.

I suggest to get a coffee pot that is not stainless steel. I think because your outside in colder weather heating up slow will not help. I get this indoors. So the solution is to get a coffee pot that is not stainless steel.

Emma. I gotta tell you, you must be special. I’m intrigued by van lifers, but you are the only one I consistently follow. Your openness and vulnerability make you real-and that is rare and precious. You are relatable at more than a superficial level-and you do not sexualize for clicks. I’m a 63 year old, male, retired VA counselor. My kids are older than you-it goes to show you how humans can identify with one and other.

In the 80s, I travelled the world for 2 1/2 years, working odd jobs ( mostly without the right visa😉) and exploring in between. Eventually, I settled in a country, met and married a lovely man. Then we both got itchy feet and ended up moving to 3 other countries, finally settled and raised our boys in Australia, where we have lived in every state😂. Now they are both off doing the same thing out there in the world. I encourage everyone to do it, especially when you're young and free of commitments. Your worldview expands exponentially. There is a hell of a lot of old to come!

Oh dude, get them wheels rolling on the passport. Canadian Rockies are unlike any other mountain range. Just skip the crowded tourist traps like Lake Louise... BC is truly the best scene for van life and endless mountains. Check the FSR maps and enjoy entire mountain ranges all to yourself. ✌️

I left my bedside hospital job because i was OVER it. I left for 6 months to live out of an SUV and thought at the time that I would never go back. At the end of 6 months, I kinda was like “ehh, I’m a damn good nurse so let’s just try a different kinda nursing.” And I’m back to being a nurse and I love the career again. I just needed time away! If you do end up going back, definitely recommend try a different specialty. Even remote jobs exist for while you’re on the road!

I don't really know anything about this stuff except what I've learned from other content creator's channels. A couple of them filled out some paperwork and got a nice chunk of change for their views up to that point. Get it girl!! Get Bus Bus a set of all-terrains and a full service.

Yes, long hair is a lot more work than short.
You could be a traveling nurse and work when you want to. Personally after working in the health care system for 25 years it truly sucks.😊

I had so much desire to travel when I was younger. I always prioritized making money, regretfully.
As far as patreon goes, I would say go for it. It could be something you are passionate about, or bloopers, or extra b roll footage.
Beans and rice is an elite food combo. When ate together they’re a complete protein! Things like TVP and soya chunks are relatively affordable and shelf stable. Just rehydrate with hot water and season. You can make a cheap and filling burrito bowl with rice, beans, soya chunks, salsa verde, and crushed tortilla chips! That’s one of my go to easy meals

If you do back packing, have you ever thought of the Appalachian trail... all the way to the end? I follow a lot of peeps hiking the trail....my favorite person just finished after several months hike, she is in her 70s! ☺

I totally understand the hair thing! I had long hair that was thick, curly, hot, and heavy so I shaved it off! Shaved heads look great and strengthen facial features male or female.

Travel nursing, while lucrative, is very stressful. I did it and I am also a nurse who needs continuity of care and a familiar company on a long term basis. Most of the hospitals now are MAGNET, requiring BSN. I also have a two year degree. Going on 32 years of nursing and retired 4 years ago but went back prn to do some shifts cuz I missed it. i’m so interested in psychology, neuroscience, quantum biology, holistic health such as Ayurveda and stuff. you could always study that and implement into your nursing career if you return to it, to practice and integrate naturalistic, holistic alternatives to traditional western medicine that treats symptoms instead of curing the root causes. i’m so glad THIS happened for you. ✨ you’re an inspiration.

He basically explains at how F-ed up the USA healthcare system and performs unnecessary treatments for profit. I have been following your channel for awhile. I love your content. Love all the hiking trails you take us on. I would like you mentioned take us on backpacking trails, that would be really cool. You have a great voice, you should go for it with spotify! I have my passport recently, within 3 weeks got mine and I would love to travel to Vancouver Island. I follow a couple truck camper channels and they went hiking all around there, it was so beautiful!
I have such a love hate relationship with my hair. It’s curly and long, and that brings me joy, but it makes me cry and loose my cool at least 4 times a week. I keep saying I’m going to chop it off when I get frustrated, but I’ve yet to do so. I’ve tried learning how to take care of it and I just CANNOT figure it out. And yes, backpacking gear is expensive! I ran into a financial roadblock with it, so I stick to longer hikes.

I am a nurse and started out in ICU. My husband is also a nurse. We both started travel nursing and both quit during the covid. We let our license go and retired. The trade off to travel is that you are never home or with friends and family. I am now getting a 4 runner ready to travel. I am a older 60's gal and now have dreadlocks and folks my age always look at me strange. It has never bothered me what others think. I hated the maintenance on my hair also and get exactly what you mean. Love your just being yourself. As a Fellow musician....I love your voice and music. LOL about your mom being a bad ass and you a thief....Just too funny Emma. Have a wonderful day and be Blessed!.

My best friend is a home care wound specialist and the stress of her job is killing her. Not only does she have to fight with corporate beauracracy but also sometimes the very creepy homes she has to visit and lots of patients she cares about dying. I'm afraid she may be headed for a nervous breakdown 😢

Hi Emma. Did you ever think of being a traveling nurse? I never knew there was such a thing till I met a few in the hospital. They go all over the country and other countries. They told me their rent is paid for along with other things. I met a nurse who was from Ireland, I thought that was so interesting, I even met a married couple that were traveling nurses. Well just a thought thanks for sharing your journey.

You are very lucky to be able to be bald and look great. Hair maintenance takes a lot of time and water which is a precious resource in van life. There are plenty of remote nurse jobs especially if you get a compact license.
Also, you only need your birth certificate and real id drivers license to cross into Canada driving.
My Marcy is a nice hike but it is such a long day. I would suggest getting an insulated sleeping pad and sleeping bag and stay in a lean to and make it into an overnighter. Also the parking lot fills super quick. Might get better in November though

I grew up in Rochester and I remember if you didn't want a passport you could get an Enhanced Drivers License to go into Canada. Maybe that is an option for you since you are a NYS resident. Assuming they still issue them, I left like 10 years ago 😮
As a New York resident, you can get an Enhanced Driver's License that you can cross into Canada with, instead of getting a passport. Apparently. I just read about it. You'd still have to get one though, of course.
Same with Michigan, Minnesota, Vermont, and Washington.
It's interesting that your male viewers would be curious why you shave your head🤔. I would think they would understand it for the effortless convenience it offers. It's a loaded question. Next time a man asks that question, you might say, "If you give me a good enough reason why you want to know, I just might tell you." So basically, your answer depends on if his reason to know warrants it. This strategy is particularly fun to practice on first dates. Takes a lot of the guesswork out if they'll even be a second date😉. Stay safe Emma.
