Hey Emma, I drove for decades. Fix-a- flat can actually work. Always kept one with me. Will fill up a flat so you can safely go 50 miles to get to a tire shop to patch it. Love your videos. 🤗💯👍🙏

I have been on many long-haul drives in my life (I have fully traversed the United States twice, from the Puget Sound to Mary-land and back again) and nothing is scarier than the long, lonely stretches of road with no civilization anywhere. I always think "I would really love to not get a flat or break down out here, thanks." It works. 😉
Just found out from another one of my favs on UA-cam that y’all make more $ if we watch the commercials! You’re on my short list to do that! So easy for us sitting in our comforts of home to say “don’t stress”! Totally different when you’re in the moment in an area, no cell service and AAA won’t come even if you had service! You did it though!! I’m old enough to be your mom if not your great grandmother! I say that cuz when I take off for extensive travel after the first of the year, seriously thinking about shaving my head! Off grid, don’t know anyone, it’ll grow back…
Or if you have UA-cam Premium, a portion of that goes to the creator. I personally cannot stand the ads!! My card was declined and I had ads again for a day and I was losing my mind!! I don't know how people watch YT with ads honestly, but I'm also a UA-camr and we do need to be paid for our hard work.

i've been driving for a loooong time and never had or heard of a bone in a tire! Glad it was so smooth to get it fixed. Awesome hiking scenery too!
I know that particular Les Schwab in Columbia Falls, MT and I have also been up there on Going to the Sun road. Your guardian angel was certainly watching over you ! It's quite treacherous up there as you already know. Breathe that sigh of relief...whew !
Please get an air compressor that gives you the tire pressure when you hook the nozzle to the tire stem. No need for a tire pressure gauge. Safe travels.✌🏾

A bone! That's got to be in my top ten weird things to find in a tyre. I'm a mobile mechanic and I once got called out to a car that had a Horse Shoe lodged in the sidewall.... Needless to say that tyre was NOT fixable 🤣

A bone from road kill likely. I always go around dead animals if I see them on the road, so now I have another reason to do so lol. I wouldn’t have thought they were strong enough to puncture a tire though! That’s wild. I’m glad everything worked out for you, and you were able to get to the tire shop safely.

I remember watching another youtuber almost got run into by a ram. Everyone had to yell and warn the other hikers. Another video is a male grizzly following hikers. Pretty narrow trail, but the views looked amazing 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Most standard tire leaks you won't deflate when your driving and wheels are moving, only when the car sits will it go flat, unless its some major blowout the tires usually contain the air when moving

hello emma if your engine light turns on unplug the battery negative wire or blk wire it will reset itself, if it keeps turning on then you got a problem.
Emma time to carry a fix-a-flat can from Walmart, o'reilly, auto zone AMAZON to name a few, lol. also maybe a good tire patch kit with a good pair of pliers to pull whatever may be lodged in tire bolt, rock, screw, nail big holes on side of tire your screwed, lol. Your already ahead of the game with the air compressor and also make sure your spare tire is in good shape. Oh she's gonna see it calling her home girl, lol. But the hike was absolutely just amazing I little too much for my taste but beautiful. As always Thanks for Sharing Happy Trails p.s. or bone
I have a patch kit! I mention this in the video! Its just physically difficult to use and if I can get to a shop Id rather have someone else do it lol
@@Emma-and-BusBus absolutely 👍, Luckily never been in that situation but have a kit in my toolbox and helped someone with bolt in tire 🛞 and no spare, in the middle of nowhere Sierra Madre near Yosemite. p.s. hole 🕳️ was small thank goodness 😅
I just ended up cleaning up 3 dead mice that my cat apparently killed last night before coming in and they have been rotting all day outside with a swarm of flies on them. Was thoroughly disgusting by hey I love my Norwegian Forest Cat. He also caught a gerbil earlier that day ugh. What a hunter. Watching this to relax and get back to my happy place after this adrenaline pumping task😂 Then getting fish n chips from nearby foodtruck and watching fireworks show for my balcony

I’m very sensitive too. But better to be sensitive than insensitive imo. My heart rate was going up and my breathing became a bit irregular as I was putting myself in Emma’s shoes just hoping she would make it down to safety. I would have definitely been really upset if this was me and scared. Not to mention stressed about repair costs!
I had a tire that lost air sometimes. I sprayed it with soap trying to find the leak but no bubbles. It would hold air for a week and then go flat in a couple hours. One day it rained a lot and I was parked in a big puddle at work and saw bubbles coming out from under my tire so I marked the location of the leak and pulled around to the back of our shop at work. We pulled the tire off and soaped it up and no bubbles. Finally I saw a tiny piece of metal and pulled it out. It was the schrader valve from the valve stem on a tire. It would only lose air when you parked directly on it.
That looked like a great hike and thanks for bringing us along

As many backroads as we’ve seen you drive so far I was kind of surprised that a simple leaking tire had you so miffed. Fix-a-flat crap is garbage that you don’t want sloshing around in your tire. If anything watch a tire plugging video on UA-cam and carry a plug kit. I know you’re capable of plugging a small leak anyway.

Glad that worked out. I would recommend putting your spare tire on in a safe area, then going to the tire shop.
As a woman traveling solo I wouldn't want to broadly advertise (spare installation on the side of the road) that I have a car problem unless it was absolutely necessary. I get why she did this. Probably would have done the same thing.
@@carrieb.5896 Yea, that does come into play. You have to be aware of your surroundings, male or female. However, underinflated tires result in a lot of friction which leads to blowouts. Who knows where this would leave you stranded with obvious car problems.

Spent many years workin' on tires and cars in general and I've pulled some wild stuff out of tires. Bones, animal teeth, antlers, tools, jewelry, broken car parts etc. The scariest was a live rifle round with the primer still intact... I though it was a large rivet since it was deformed and all scratched up from being driven on. It wasn't until I pulled the tire off the rim that I realized what I'd been prying on pulling on for the last 20 minutes O.o. Needless to say I stopped immediately and told the customer I couldn't fix his tire (the hole was too large to be repairable). He was a little incredulous until I took him out to the shop and showed him what was in there. We were both very surprised and very thankful it hadn't gone off on either of us! lol

If you can find a set of Kevlar tires. You should get them. They don't puncture nearly as easy as radials.

Emma! Aint no way you're a nomad without a spare tire! Lol im sorry its the man in me. But for real. Traveling around with no spare and no ability to change a tire is no no. All of us nomads need to be able to do beginner to at least early intermediate car issues. Its not only our car its our home. Glad you made it out the situation smoothly!
Girl of course I have a spare tire!! but it was just a fast leak. If i had taken the whole tire off I wouldnt have made it to the shop before they closed. I did forget to mention the time crunch lol
no bike? no foldable bike? I'd be blowed having to walk to get help IF my phone service fails. I'd have a bike OR some scooter or something electric you can charge. . I'd keep that on board .. I advise that for all van livers .. thats def what I plan to do ..

U have a donut right??? Learn to put that on!! Its not hard. My 38 year old self can do it. It saves money for tow and help. And on my van its stored under the van, so no space taken.
I have a donut and know how to put it on. But it was only a leak, and i was close enough to a shop to just have them fix it for me. Of course id put the donut on if i had no other options.
The perfect real solo van life without complaints, drama, or companion dog or cat gets the camera focus every couple of minutes which becomes really repetitive and boring and tiring which is what other channel owners do.

Hey hun. Why would I expend all that effort on the side of the highway when I was able to make it to a shop and just have someone else do it for free :) if i were too far away then of course Id put the spare on but i made it just fine without having to do all that
