- So close to passing these right on by but then I thought to myself…what kind of colorologist would I be to overlook the creator of colors, the inventors of rainbows, the founding father of happiness!!! Nuts I say!!! I must praise the one that is CRAYOLA!

Crayola is a bit weird cause there are actually close to 170 different colors but in order to get them all you have to buy multiple sets. You have to get the 150 set, then the Colors of Kindness set (which has a pretty light blue), and the metallic set. I think they had a neon set at one point but I can't find it on Amazon anymore. I know I have several neon colors, but they could be
+10y old by now.
I like your swatch sheet, I made one for myself years ago but it's pretty messy since I've added new sets a few times.
I like using Crayola when I'm just messing around and I don't want to "waste" my more expensive pencils.
That is so weird isnt it?!?! You would think their largest set would BE the largest set BECAUSE it had ALL the coloris in it. To have a set without silver and gold...so weird!
And now that you told me about the light blue....I almost wanting to go out and get it haha
I actually own those and would indeed use the swatch sheet because I put my pencils in cases and I would organize the case according to the chart :)
YOU LIE!!!! Ok, maybe you would. But if I end up putting it out there...you BETTER use it!!! Which means you need to subscribe and follow me on FB...it's the only way to be sure haha
(Im so sneaky)
This takes me back!! And the montage of tips breaking made me laugh out loud! 😂
haha THANK YOU Trey! Im glad someone found humor in those little edits. They were more trouble then they were worth...but as long as SOMEONE got a chuckle out of it....totally worth it!
I recently bought my dad a Crayola set in a tin. I forgot how good they are. I'm glad you covered this
Thank you Kimberly! To be honest I had forgotten how fun they were as well!
@@sugahsweetartyes I’m a bit of a crayola 24 evangelist too😂
You always make any pencil look easy. Really great job laying out the good and bad with this one!
Thank you Boone Buddy!!!
I have my 100 + 24 COTW set in a cool colour matching lazy Susan sorter I made, on my desk out and proud - love my Crayola’s
You really cant go wrong with that can ya?!?!
I would use the color swatch sheets. I struggle trying to put colors in order. The family order is gold to me! Please make your swatch sheets to all your pencils available on Etsy, soon. Thank you!!!
FOR ALL MY PENCILS?!?! Are you craycray?!?! haha, that's a lot of work! haha Im working on it (as we speak actually) in hopes of getting it in yalls hands. I just have to figure out the best way to get it in yalls hands. I got ideas but need to work it out.
But you have MY WORD...I am working on it for you. Hang with me and we'll get it done.... promise!!!! 😇
Do you have a coloring book? Your drawing would be excellent for that. I always have the feeling that the creators of the books we buy don’t actually color.
WHAAAAA?!?!?!? It sounds to me like you dont OWN any of my coloring books!!!! OH THE SHAME!!!!!! haha
You need to come join us over on my FB page. I give away a lot of my hand drawn work there as well as post a lot of coloring goodies!!!!
I have a few books out and have another one on the way...they take me a little while since I am drawing each page by hand but I think you will personally appreciate it a lot more!!!
I appreciate you Diamond!!!
Gorgeous piece! Love that water effect, any chance of a tutorial? 😅
I think I can do something like that for ya! Glad you're back and feeling better!!!
Crayola was my first pencil love. I wish I knew where you got your set of 150. You are the first person to teach me about the differences in colorless blenders, so now I will try to find the other brands. I always reached for the caran d'Ache, and that was it. I had no idea some were stronger than others in how they made a blend. I think you have a quality channel and hope your sub count climbs very quickly :D I am number 842, very happily!!!
That is a very sweet thing to say. Thank you Jean! I tell you what...Ill push my "blender" video up higher on my list just for you! Will that be ok with you? 😉
Are you, by chance, following me on FB? I do a lot of little videos about stuff like that (as well as freebies to color). I cant post a lot of those things here because, well...frankly they just arent YT worthy. Just sorta fun little videos for a closer group of colorologist 😀
That will be lovely!!! Thank you :D Technically I have FB but am afraid of it, which I realize is so silly. I will try to conquer my fear :D
I absolutely love the Crayola colored pencils. They have some really great shades (Fuzzy Wuzzy, Jazzberry, Wild Blue Yonder) that I use quite often. Another great colored pencil review!
You HUSH YOUR MOUTH Jayne!!! You don't come onto my channel and say things like, "Fuzzy Wuzzy and Jazzy Berry (and dont forget Bluetiful)!!!" haha
@@sugahsweetart 😂
HI! So glad your channel popped up TY ✌️☺️
Hey Susie!!!! Im just as glad as you are that you found me!!! Im not sure what happened. I posted one stupid Crayola video (after tons of others)....and poof...you found me! haha
I guess Crayola really is magical!
Great video. I would love swatch sheet. I would be willing to pay for it.😊
I am REALLY hoping to figure out a good way to get them in your hands real soon!!! 😍
Fabulous appreciation, I find myself using crayons more than I expected, they really create magic on a good paper ❤ put them in a case!
Yeah, its funny how its so easy to forget about these little puppies isn't it. It's nice to wipe the dust off every now and then and have a little childhood fun!
I hear you. I have organized, re-organized and re-re-organized my pencils till I just gave up! Now I just keep the greens together, the blues together, etc., etc. And the names are so unhelpful! But, that's OK. I have found that I cannot use a heavy hand in my layers as it just burnishes the paper and prevents me adding other colors. They do require lots and lots of layers and, truthfully, I cannot fully get rid of the white. But, so far, I'm fine with that. I love my Crayolas! I'm glad you did this video. Thanks!
GUUUURLLLL You're on the right track....we just need to get you to put a little more pressure on those pencils! haha
Sounds like your heading in the right direction for sure. A BIG part of removing the white (from the paper) is to use a blender. Sometimes thats a huge reason I use it
@@sugahsweetart I hear you, and I do sometimes use a blender pencil. I think I don't have the best luck with them because frankly I don't put down enough pigment. I find that I prefer the "washed out" or light look of a page. So the white doesn't bother me. I do think that the Crayolas (even though beautiful) are not highly pigmented. Nature of the beast I suppose. I assume that the popular Prismas are very pigmented. People sure seem to love them! I'm also assuming that a wax pencil just acts different from my oil-based Crayolas. Not certain, but oh well. Thanks for the response. I look forward to your next video.
@@sallycapotosto6927 Dont overrate them (Prismacolors too much) I can assure you that there are a TON of brands out there that can compete AND for a much better price.
If you like that washed-out look, you might be doing exactly what you need/like to do.
And yes, you are absolutely correct....Crayola definitely is on the skimpier sie of pigment haha
That's how I organized my kids' Legos during covid. By color.
My first love!….crayola!😎
I have to say....if you're going to have a first love, I cant think of a better one!
That's a nice picture🥰🥰🥰The color pencils seems to give color easily, but the crumbling.....not sure about that. The colors are beautifull. And I liked how much fun you had yourself🥰🥰🥰🥰
yeah, they definitely have their moments of pure crumble capacity! Haha Im glad you enjoyed the video Ester 😍
Wow, you made them work beautifully! Thank you!
Thank you Susie. I think I sorta surprised myself with this one haha
Crayolas are awesome for what they are. Great video!
Arent they though. A pretty underrated guest at the part if you ask me!
Most enjoyable, they are easily overlooked but with patience they can create pretty pages. One thing to take note of is their country where they are manufactured as it does affect the amount of breakages you will experience. I’ve also found one has to be careful where you purchase from as not all companies care how they are handled.
You are So very right about that Julie!
And its funny how pencils are viewed in different countries as well. A follower (on my FB page) tells me how hard they (Crayola) are to get in the UK compared to how easy they are to get here.
Meanwhile, I had to get a friend in Germany to send me Faber-Castell Black (100 set) Edition because I couldn't get it here and she said they were in stores everywhere over there hahah
@@sugahsweetart crayola are readily available on line here in the uk however the American 150 set is expensive at £70 we can get the made in china pack of 100 realitively cheaply but for the same price of around £20 you can pick up other sets that area lot less hard work. Bryunzeel run about the same price. Derwent here in the uk are competitively priced whereas the prisma colours are more expensive. Fabre castelle can be as cheap or as expensive as you like with their child pencils£14 the black edition range around 30£ on the bottom and polycromos at around £200 for the largest sets of each. Caran dache are extremely expensive as are the holbeins. I love using many of my cheaper brands because I don’t feel so guilty using them. I’m blessed to have a son who loves gifting me expensive art supplies. Personally I fell in love with the koh I noor brand when they were still quite a cheap brand but now they are a midrange product. Not many artists rate them very highly but they do create lovely images. What’s also nice is you can buy their colour ranges eg all grey, all browns etc
I own these pencils and would use the swatch sheet and organize my pencils in the case in the same order as the swatch sheet
I'm working on it...PROMISE!!!
I think all of yall are just telling me you would use it to make me work more....I'm onto you Sheila!!! 😆
Would love to see how you organize the crayolas. This is great.
Me too! haha
Great video. I do like a harder pencil. But Crayola are hard to come by in the UK. My set is only around 36 or 48, can't remember now. But even at that size there are some good colours and they suit the way I work. I also love the Crayola Signature coloured pencils. They developed them for adult colourists. Also really hard to land a set of 50 in the UK. But I have one in action and a spare! They are obviously not the same as a high end pencil, but they certainly have a lot of uses.
What Im hearing is that you say there is never a reason for me to go to the UK haha....they clearly dont like fun pencils! 🙃 I tell you what...the next time you come to a coffee shop near me, Ill meet you there. We can color together and Ill give you my large set of Crayola 😇
@@sugahsweetart OK! You are on. (I've only been to America once though and that was to NC so I think you are safe). I don't understand why it's so hard to get the large sets of Crayola here. Smaller sets are plentiful. Same with Supertips, which I really enjoy, but I have managed to get a 100 of those now, plus the colours of the world skin tones.
Reasons to come to the UK - Derwent Factory in the Lake District. Now that's very nice. You can visit The Art Gear Guide Harry while you are up there.
@@suewilkinson910 those are two EXCELLENT REASONS! Im packing my bag now! (but you're buying me a coffee when I get there!!!)
@@sugahsweetart The Lake District is a stunning part of the UK and Harry is awesome.
Use an alcohol blender marker. You can layer for days!
Im not sure why but Im started pushing toward pencil blenders. Because you're right. An alcohol blender is pretty spectacular. It might just be because I find myself focusing more on pencils in these videos...but yes, when I am working professionally (on big projects) I often use maker blenders to blend my pencils ☺
You need to make the family swatch sheets available for us please 🙏
I promise promise PROMISE...I'm on it! I just have to figure out the best way to get it to you (any suggestions?)
I want to make them the best I can to make sure yall get something yall are completly happy with....and can REALLY help your coloring experience.
And you KNOW you don't want these Crayola swatch sheets!!!! 😆
@@sugahsweetart please make it available on your Etsy shop 🙏 thank you so much
@@sugahsweetart family swatches for other brands also 🙏
@@irenepadmo5745 I definitely have some. You can see one in each of the Pencil Appreciation videos I do. Ill try to make a video on them (the swatch sheets) soon ;)
Just wow :)
🥳🥳🥳
Actually love my crayolas.
Excellent video my friend!!!
Thank you, Susan. Thanks for finally making the time to watch....haha
Hahaha... Jokester
Are you able to fix your thumbnail, hon?
You can always use a blade to lower the front of the sleeves, to give access to shorter pencils as you use them, while retaining the usefulness of the sleeve storage itself 😉
It’s always fun to see different artists try out crayola, they’re always a bit surprised and impressed by the quality. It’s by no means professional grade, but crayola really is a good brand to have; I guess because it’s marketed to children, adults tend to associate that with poor quality 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for your video!
Honestly, I didnt really make this channel to talk about my thumbnail. Its the one God gave me. Sorry, you have to deal with such an unsightly thing.
BUT you're probably right about the pencils. I use to use them ALL the time as a child and remember loving them. I guess as we grow older we outgrow those things we loved as children and tend to put them behind us as well...so it is really nice to wipe the dust off of some of our past and remember why we loved them so much in the first place ☺
@@sugahsweetart 🤣🤣 that was a good one! yeah, I actually never mention people’s thumbnails- just genuinely wondering if you can fix a typo after posting- thank you for the reply 🙂
@@cbkqmom 😂 Yeah, once that stuff gets released.... it's like STONE! haha
There is no fixing it.
So thank you for pointing out my flaws as a human. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY!!! Now EVERYONE is going to tell me to go back to school! IM TOO OLD FOR THAT!
@@sugahsweetart 🤣 we all got em- just a bunch of flawed flounderers 😜
Thanks! But what’s your paper? Looks like it really takes pencil well, and my usual stuff has nosedived in quality 😢
This is just a piece of standard color pencil paper.
I get it at Michaels/Hobby Lobby when they have it on sale (which is pretty much every other weekend)
I have several notepads because Im always checking the sales haha
I think I have the link under my video if its something you might like.
Once you start coloring on it...you might not ever go back haha
Just found a brand new unused box from the 60s.
WOW!!! What a major find! Thats old school right there!!!
Congrats
Put them in color order
Nice content, but you aren't their target market. Crayola pencils work very well for 6th-12th grade requirements. Parents appreciate that all Crayola pigments are non toxic, CPSIA/ASTM D 4236. Still, most adults will limit the number of color pencils/art supplies a child has access to based on age/maturity as human children are very creative when it comes to hurting themselves or a friend. Have you tried Crayola adult coloring pencils, Crayola Signature pencils, Crayola Sketch And Shade Pencils? Most colorist have a wide range of both professional grade and budget pencils, yet U.S colorist still purchase Crayola because you can't be can't be certain they won't on a paper until you try them.
Actually, Crayola themselves told me I am indeed the target audience. We had a wonderful exchange where they told me about some of their past history and how they made Crayola for everyone to express their creativity. It's the wonderful outlook about Crayola.... you're never too old to create.
I'm simply highlighting the pencil attributes as well as where it might be lacking. I believe a child/beginner can still understand if a pencil is low on pigment, if it crumbles, and its blending abilities.
I have the Signature pencils and enjoy them as well. I just need to get around to creating a video for those (and several others). I do indeed have a pretty wide range of pencils to cover...these videos just take me more time than I would like to admit! haha
But hopefully, I can get to them soon! I'm glad you enjoyed the video ☺
Well, how about that! I learn something new every day.
By the way, did you know that the Crayola brand colored pencils that are specifically marketed to adults (the ones which come in a mostly white box in sets of 50 and 100) are the EXACT SAME pencils as in the ones in the yellow box? (That info is direct from Crayola.)
It's because of this thoughtful, well-rounded video that I just purchased the 150 set and I'm really pleased I did. After watching this, I blew the dust off my smaller set of yellow box Crayolas and discovered that because they're on the harder side, they do a great job on the budget friendly Amazon printed coloring books that I am such a fan of. I have Crayola Signature as well and love them, but they're much softer and I find that they just don't get into the (very limited) tooth of the paper like the death point that I can get (and maintain!) on these yellow box/white box Crayolas.
@@back2antiochagain287 Actually I did NOT know that!!!
It makes me so happy that you got something out of this little video. It doesn't seem like much but they take me a bit of effort to shoot and edit...so when someone likes you is able to enjoy it....it makes it all worth it.
I appreciate you!
