- Bad endings. I don't know about anyone else, but they terrify me. Just when the hero(es) thought everything was finally right, just when it looked like peace had finally returned to the world, something happens that, at best, creates a bittersweet victory and, at worst, spoils everything and the enemies win, despite everything that happened throughout your adventure. Bad endings don't give you any second chances, you screwed things up for everyone and you must pay dearly...

I love how the normal ending implies that the mask has some sort of evil power inside it, but it's actually just a regular mask with no special properties whatsoever.

Satan has never been that impressive in any of the Puyo Puyo games besides ~n.

A random girl that has magical powers and is a sort of inmortal being along with her trusty partner that happens to be the former pet of “Stan”, a god-like entity that is a massive dork, and uses his overwhelming powers on relatively harmless stuff... Only in Japan, could a name like the Hell Overlord in Christian belief become related to a goofy “villain”.

Remember when Arle decapitated Schezo when she was 16, leaving his bloody corpse still standing, but then his severed head comes back and tries to kill you? Or back during the first Madou Monogatari, when an illusion showed all of her kindergarten friends’ faces melting off with black eyes?

Do you remember how in pc98 version instead of showing damage in numbers, she told how much did it hurt? How a little girl was thrown into a maze and was beated up to the point of wanting to vomit? How there is actually a gallery by one artist with quotes from the game and images of how it'd look like? Damn it was awesome, hail ryona.

Schezo is my favorite Puyo Puyo character because he is a dark mage and is always making accidental innuendos so that everyone calls him "pervert."
Plus Wumbotize plays Schezo all the time

Technically speaking, that is the final boss though and would also be a great way to speedrun the game maybe since it’s the final boss
For those confused about the whereabouts of carbuncle (arle's best friend git briefly mentioned), this is a fan translation of a Japanese exclusive game (later games were released in america, which will be important in a minute). Because of this, the little yellow creature is called "ka-kun" in this version, and in later American releases of the puyo puyo series (puyo puyo tetris, puyo puyo champions, etc.), "ka-kun" had his name localized to "carbuncle". I bet that no one even asked, but I thought I'd answer anyway

I liked the Puyo Puyo games since I played the skin game Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, and while I also like Tetris, in Puyo Puyo Tetris I find myself using Puyo mode more.

What's creepy about is that canonically Arle would need to have some crazy illness in order to get into the situation of the bad ending yet she's still pushing herself when she should be resting

For games that make you work harder for the worst endings you should look into the Disgaea series. Most of those require some extreme post-game levels of grinding to get to in one way or another, usually involving fighting enemies with levels in the quadruple digits (compared to the main story, where enemies or bosses rarely if ever break double digits).
Disgaea 2 bad end is truly horrible

One of the reasons why Satan wants to marry Arle so badly is because she resembles his previous wife, Lilith.
Lilith also created the puyo puyo universe with the seraphim sphere and is considered a tutor figure to arle as a spirit in the old games.

I've heard it's possible to also get this bad ending by playing TOO well. Supposedly there's a glitch that, if you make some horrendous chains (like 15+ I think) and get enough points (perhaps 1 million?), you can overflow the EXP counter and end up with an impossibly high requirement for level up. This is mostly only possible against the easier enemies, I suspect, because the harder ones wouldn't give you enough time to set up a chain worth than many points before crushing you with their own attacks.
I think that bug is only on one of the versions on an obscure CD-based console, don't recall which.
Yep, you are referring to Puyo Puyo Tsuu CD on the PC-Engine, Japan's Turbografx 16 console. You only need at least 45,000 points on floor 1 to trigger the overflow glitch.
Yes, it guarantees you can see the bad ending for yourself. You'd need just over a million more points to successfully get out, which considering how the PC-Engine port controls, and how high of a chain you'd need MULTIPLE TIMES without dying, is basically impossible.

It's part of the RPG series that puyo puyo is technically a spinoff of... Madou monotagari. The connection between the two series is very iffy, so I dunno how that connects with anything, really.

believe it or not to get this ending is very easy on any difficulty
you see when you die the ai lowers the difficulty to make it more easy to you go through (hence the reason why the game says you can't use continue to reach masked satan)so you can pretty much keep dying and dying util one point the ai will kill herself.

i am not a native english speaker but if i remember right some countrys use satan as the same name for demon.
hence why he have a devil like design whoever due to nintendo religious rules he got renamed to dark prince when the games got to english countrys officially.

I've played this game a billion times and I never knew about the early Masked Satan fight or have actually seen the bad ending. That's some wacky stuff.

You are g-o-o-d good at the game. You are able to get to & take down masked dark prince. I feel like i cannot get to the true final boss in level 6. I can bareley even pull off a 2 chain.
