Thanks for (finally) reviewing this whisky, Alan.
Great dram for tjose who love sherried whiskies.
Slàinte mhath
its a belter Frank....cheers buddy
Bought this 3 years ago with mostly birthday vouchers..it was superb!Harder to get and much more costly...
What am excellent review, as a pipe smoker I am sure I will love it ! But where to find it and at 70 pounds… here it is well over 100 euros 😮… thanks for sharing your thoughts Alan! Well done 👍 ciao S.
Great review! Extremely tough for me to get around my parts, but I can live through you. Salute to you Sir!
A very industrial Sherry sb15.
I love the review.
See you next month.
See you soon Peter....
I got a Bottle of this Last Year @ Christmastime for 90€ which was quiet cheap.
And i still love it. Great Stuff if you get it (and the Dealer wasnt too greedy too).
I dont pay the high Prices, rather i buy something else. There is so much good Stuff out there.
Thanks for this Video and your Opinion about this Malt.
Hi Alan, thanks for this excellent review. Lucky you that you experienced such a wonderful whisky. You cannot find the Springbank 15 for under 130 Euro here in Germany. Sometimes the shops didn't even get the new 15.
Still an older version if the 15 in my stash. It is still sealed waiting to be opened in the future. Cheers and slainte mhath
There's a bottle of Springbank 15 in my local shop on the shelf for 250 euros! Think it's been on the shelf for a while...
You can’t go wrong with this distillery. Very nice notes Alan made me crave some Springbank 🤙🥃
Lucky boy! Excellent review, fella!!
just got great friends who help me find these bottles....cheers my friend
I just wish I stocked up when I could see this stuff left on the shelf.
Great straight forward review Alan. I walked into this gem at my local retailer by pure luck so happy days!
Great video Alan, as usual. Personally, I'm in love with this SB15 bottling. Luckily I've got a spare for once I've polished this one off! Cheers mate!👍🥃
Nice one! enjoy it buddy
One of my favorite distilleries even though I haven’t had much from them. I did manage to have a dram of the 18 on a trip. Let’s just say it’s worth it if you can get your hands on it! You just can’t go wrong with a spring bank if it fits your palate. Thanks for the great content my friend.
Great videon my friend, have to try to get my hands on this one
Was lucky enough to get one from my local when it came out. Not open yet as have too many open battles. Definitely to be cracked around Christmas time though when I need the Sherry!
you will love it buddy....your gonna have a great xmas buddy.....
Nice review Alan, as always! I have been enjoying the 2021 version of this. Though I scored their 12 yo cask strength a bit higher. Gotta love Springbank!
Great review Alan, great notes...I also found a cola note in this one that I love when I find in springbank whiskies :)
Cheets Keith... Hope you and yours are well buddy....
Nice job mate. Hard to beat Spingbank in general. Sláinte.
$225, I skipped this yr and likely skipped future ones until I finish the 2021 & 2020 I already own. Allan, have you tried those Longrow Reds? Chilean and Malbec are incredible, so is the 18 2021
Hi Alan, the problem is,that not only is it nearly impossible to buy but when there is a chance springbank 15 is way too expensive. Still got a full bottling from 2014. Last time (around 2 years ago) I managed to get my hands on a bottle it cost me around € 75. As always a good review Alan. Doon the hatch 🥃👍
Great timing Alan. I’m about to open my bottle this week.
id love to know what you think of it Patrick....
Re-watching with a dram of this beauty. Still neck pour.. Minty, that’s new for me.
Had some more of this over the weekend and I get a hint of after eight mint.... Just a touch though first time for me however its the first 100% sherry one that I've had....
After eight I get that. Makes it ‘fresh’ especially for a sherry cask matured whisky. Really interesting dram. There’s a lot going on.
Now 150-175 msrp in US. Can get Lagavulin 16 for 65-75. Not sure why Springbank is so expensive in US. Majority of scotch is cheaper here than in the UK.
Anyone anywhere in the world knows how hard Springbank is to get and a lot of retailers as cashing in im afraid...thanks for dropping by my friend...😜
OLOROSO only @Alan. SB traditionally hasnt used PX - that has changed very recently (last three years) when the odd finish has been used. There'll be a PX release in the next outrun - not a 15 though, i think 8 or 9 year old
Harder to get hold of than an honest politician.
lucky to have good friends that help me find these bottles
@@thewhiskyfriend please provide your friends names
@@Watchman999 there very shy my friend.... Lol
That's a great price brother, but this 15 year old whisky sells for between $250 and $400 in NYC on the off-chance you can find it.
That is an ABSOLUTE PASS IMHO.
If guys with money burning a hole in their pockets want to pay that price to join the Springbank Club, good luck, no doubt it's good stuff (even given the batch variation), but I'll take a pass and suggest Glen Scotia Victoriana for about $90, or even a Loch Lomond 18 for $70 as reasonable alternatives in my market ✌️
your right, i am lucky to have a great group of friends who help me find these at retail.....your alternative are all great bottles too....
Spot on with Victoriana. Much better value for sure. They are similar, but there is something quite unique about Springbank that makes me open my wallet. I’m lucky that I can’t get even a bottle of the 10 within 3 hours of here. And if I saw that $250 price you mentioned, I’d jump on it. That’s $25 per 50 ml dram. For special occasions, I’m good with that for the 2-hour experience.
@@utoobia Springbank is unique, no doubt, and any alternatives are just that, not replacements.
But I'm sorry, I just can't get behind a $250 15yo @46% for any reason. It's whisky in the bottle, not some magical elixir.
And blind in the glass, even the most seasoned tasters would struggle mightily to distinguish between Springbank 15 and say Glen Scotia 15, which is equally good and is even less expensive than Victoriana.
So long as folks continue to chase these bottles up the price ladder, their prices will not come back down to Earth; and that makes no sense to me given the plethora of equally good, fairly-priced, whiskies out there.
Happy hunting ✌️
@@MrChristopherMolloy Yep. No argument here. As subjective as taste preferences are, it gets even more subjective when your personal wallet is involved! I’ve thought for a while now that NO whisky is worth $200. None I’ve ever tried anyway…this is the only one so far I would “overpay” for, as illogical as that statement is. To each, his own.
And by the way, I don’t think I have a very sophisticated palate, but I could tell the SB 15 from those other 2 just by nosing them.
Sláinte!
@@utoobia No doubt the two are different, and it's all very subjective, but when an uncompromisingly great whisky, 4 or 5 times less expensive, can impress the way Glen Scotia often does, IT'S the one guys like us should be raving about and online reviewers should be writing poems about.
You've probably seen them, but The Whisky Friend and Whisky in The 6, and have both compared Glen Scotia and Springbank head to head. Fun stuff.
I prefer the 10 (better for people who are not so much into sherry flavours).... but yes, most Springbank is gonna be lonely. I really want to try the 12
Such a pity that such a beautiful dram it is totally unobtainable now.
Help. What is the bottling code on yours? Mine is 12.04.22
24.01.2022 fella it's a cracker
Great Whisky for sure. But considering the price development in the past 2 years this one is clearly overpriced and a no buy
Im not sure if what just hit shelves in Arizona is this 2022 bottling…I’ll have to look at the bottle code next time…but either way it’s $150 a bottle plus tax 🤦🏻😩
I’m sure it’s really good but probably a value loser at that price point
You have no idea how many would kill for an SB15 at $150!
@@robertbrangan9617 must be nice to have deep pockets where value doesn’t matter anymore 👍🏼
Value is relative
@@robertbrangan9617 yeah guess that’s true…I definitely have it made it that high up the ladder yet where $150 is a value buy😢
@@chazchilly9697 me neither man lol
£70 retail is a bargain, I paid a heck of a lot more.
Good review but please remove all popups about subscribe and nitifications, annoying
thanks for watching Thomas i will have a look at the pop ups, however, its just a friendly reminder from me to thee....
I hardly notice the popups as the descriptors take me away to a whisky friend dreamworld 🤣🤣
Cheers buddy
