He definitely set the record for biggest quads in the 105kg category. I haven't seen quads that big since Stefan Botev.

Does anyone think Ilyin's clean pull is unique?

I keep seeing it too, it seems to drift. It kinda goes out and the on the ''in'' the uses the momentum and bolts underneath.

And I really want to know, is Ilya aware of this , or , it's unconscious just because he is so damn strong?

I would say definitely. They scrutinize every aspect of technique. Will have done this since since his serious WF training at 8 years old. If you look in is Insta, his latest C&Js seem to follow a different technique and a straighter bar path (something he did with the snatch before Rio 2016). Interesting choice.
I once filmed my powercleans and realised I was not extending whatsoever at the top, and one day without thinking much tried doing it Ilya's way and the bar flew up, belting my throat from the power. Since then I am not always able to successfully reproduce his technique but there is an element there which can use momentum to your advantage for sure. I'm not saying I do it his exact way but the visual cues help alone.

Wow, you must have a great observation, as well as the attitude to learn and try! ^_^ I have watched an interview made by a Kazakhstan media, Ilya said he is learning from Chinese weightlifters such as Lu Xiaojun and ohters, to make a combination of his style and Chinese technics. (I think Chinese style is not so explosive, visually). By the way, I have tried his tech and the bar just hit my throat and collarbones hard, almost choke. He who wants to copy his tech must become him, I guess.
