The gm_harvest map is also known as oc_havest. This oc stands for obsidian conflict. A coop mod for Half-Life 2
Came here to post this. Oc_harvest is pretty popular and even has a bro team pill video.
The port to Gmod probably strips out all of the map logic since only obsidian conflict can work with it, as it uses player score as a currency to buy seeds and sell produce.
It's actually an entire game mode built into the map. Oc_diving also does some cool stuff like this

When they were developing L4D2, one of Valve's employees had a Nightmare Fuel folder with photos to be used as references for the infected gore system, eventually the rest of the employees agreed that the images were too disturbing to look at that they used stuff like potatoes for texture reference

On the subject of the waterworld, a similar thing happened to me. My family used to take me the a place called Putt Putt Funhouse for my birthdays, there was laser tag, bowling, bumper cars, and a bunch of other fun things to mess around with. Unfortunately after Covid-19 during 2020 it closed down, because of the lack of people. And now when I drive by it I see the once happy face on the front of it torn off.
I have a story like that, back in 04 or 05 a new arcade/playground place opened up called Diversia in my town, place had a ballpit, a proper one, it had these big balls with handles that you could jump around in and many other fun stuff to do, birthday parties there were bloody fun! Unfortunately it didn't last for too long, for some reason it closed down in like 2010 or somewhere around that time.
I love ttt_waterworld, I don't know why, but it's so nostalgic and beautiful to me.
I hate big corporate compromises, a posion chalice of greed with the apperance of care.

The intermission animations with the drone are really unique and aid in distinctifying the different layers. Much more clever than just panning down on the iceberg image.

I remember logging onto Gmod on June 2nd. It was the same day summer vacation started so I was excited to hop on my computer, but due to the incident, I became extremely terrified of Gmod. I was scared to interact with my computer at all. I thought I got hacked because I watched one of your iceberg videos where you talked about Gman’s strange face popping up and that was stuck in my head. I told my friends but they thought I was crazy even though they hadn’t gotten on the game.

Gmod is one of those games I'm always uncomfortable of playing even though I'm having so much fun as well. Knowing that I can download a addon with that kind of thing makes me think twice of opening the game.

Every time I see that white hat and guitar resting on that chair in the menu main, I get a little sad.
But the fact that a memorial image for Kitty0706 has been put into the game is heartwarming.
While I wasn´t hoping to expect a third part, it eventually came into reality. I´m incredibly happy that this happened, can only say thank you, your iceberg videos are a bliss. Absolutely great job!

I played on The Pit once, I mainly remember playing around with various NPCs and Props on it, such as throwing Tanks and Striders into it. Something not shown in the screenshots were sections of wooden beams, pipes blowing smog into the tunnel, and a yellowish rocky section, I believe being just before the pipes, which may have continued into the looping section.
Oh, apparently the first two maps had already been found/reuploaded, don't have much else to say here, I can't quite tell wether I player The Pit in 2022 or 2023, since I got Gmod shortly after fall 2022 begun and School came back, so I may have unknowingly played on it while everyone else thought it was lost.
Apparently the edit feature is broken on my device, but I did a bit more digging, and since I vividly remember playing around with Zeta Players and Filth on it too, both of which their parent addons I subscribed to in early 2023, I think it's safe to say I did not play on this map while it was thought to be lost.
Is it just me or is gmod WAY more popular than half-life
It’s because Garry’s Mod is basically its own game by this point, and has a diverse blend of sjngleplayer and multiplayer content. Half-Life is JUST singleplayer (cool gameplay and story tho), so it ends up getting less popularity than its cool cousin.
Depends on the circles you follow. I got into source games through Counter Strike, then learned of Half Life, then Portal and TF2. Only relatively recently did I actually do a deep dive into Gmod but then again, I mostly prefer competitive gameplay rather than sandboxes so those games hold way more appeal to me and some audiences. Either way respect should be given to the Half Life series for basically paving the way for all these games.
Not So Fun Fact: The Glue Library Incident Happened Again With Different Addons, One Of Them Being Manual Weapon Pickup Or Something Like That. I Actually Had The Addon And Got The Jumpscare Too.

I actually watched Ragee a lot because i just loved the Garry's Mod Videos. The one with the Pit that was private he made up an story that this Pit has dark secrets in it and that his mission was to explore the depths of it. I can remember that he played a lot of plattforms inside the pit and some enemies attacking him.
The pit really had a lot of plattform, ladders and was pretty deep. He made a lot of his videos private because he just doesnt recognize himself in it and wanted to change his content from the old loud and funny guy to a more serious gamer.

I remember playing the pit map. I would recreate the “This is Sparta!!” Meme with rag dolls constantly. Or I would get the uncanny feeling just being in the pit, whereas after like 10 minutes I would get that Unnerving “I’m being watched” feeling. Sad it’s no longer around, but I do remember part of his name. His name was BioDiced or BioDyson something like that. It was Bio something that much I remember it’s been close to 7 years since i last played that map.

I remember a map I played on a long time ago around 2014, simply called gm_city. I only really remember it having a gas station with a save 4 less sign on it. I think the original is gone but I'm pretty sure there was a re-upload of it somewhere in the workshop. There was a video on UA-cam featuring the map from back in the day, but it's likely been lost to time.

6:49 even though there are maps designed to be liminal spaces, nothing hits harder than booting up a Left 4 Dead map and just looking around. usually you hurry through them to minimize the amount of hordes you encounter, but in gmod you have all the time in the world to look at how empty and broken everything looks.
i think my favorite map to look at is the airport in Dead Air, you can kinda see yourself moving normally through the airport at times, as if it weren't the apocalypse.

I first found out about the first iceberg video a bit after it came out when I was sick one day, so I watched it, then I watched the second one after that came out. Happy to see this one finally come out, as these videos have a lot of replay-ability, either that be just running it in the background or just be bored one night and watch it
The ambience layout and music is perfect and makes it even better maybe make more icebergs for other games it's so interesting
the difference between 2016 nextbots and the new ones is most of the new ones are trying something new with the ai, i think gargitron was the real reason for the big wave and im glad that most of them do something different

I wanna say another reason why nextbots resurfaced is because, of course, Roblox.
There's an incredibly popular gamemode on Roblox that uses Source assets (including some of the maps looking like they were made in Hammer) called Nico's Nextbots. Its basically a glorified "survival game" where you run from Nextbots that are kinda creepy looking. One of them is even a distorted Kleiner model.
Not necessarily, people wanted to play with the nextbots but didnt have a pc or gmod so they played it on roblox. Theres a bunch of roblox rip offs but that doesnt mean the originals were made popular from the rip offs

I this the harvest map is from Obsidian Conflict, i remember playing a harvesting gamemode there. So maybe it can be found in gamebanana or moddb, if you search for the OC mod.
Edit: it says it's included with obsidian conflict, so i guess if someone downloads the mod and extracts the map and modifies it for gmod, they can revive it.
classic oc_harvest gameplay, get one guy focused solely on hunting pigeons with prop kills so you don't have to buy the gun, so you can start smoking meat early...
or you played the unofficial sequel, oc_paysan, which shrunk the farm bits but added a lot of town stuff, a lot of mine stuff, and logging to make a crafting-generalized experience instead of focusing on the core farming gameplay loop.
@@Extramrdo i dont remember, neither did i understood the gamemode back in the day. I was mostly playing fishing gamemode.
One thing I started doing is decompiling maps, and saving them in a mapping folder to avoid having maps become lost over time. I know some people will frown that I am doing that, but I am not reposting them.

I remember years ago there was this Gmod animation I can't find anymore. It starts with the player playing Minecraft then going to sleep in Minecraft. Then waking up in this hell scape in Gmod. There was nothing there but one building and flat grass. I never knew if he managed to escape. I remember he trying to find ways out of the nightmare. One of the things I remember was a helicopter and it crashed. My memory is very foggy on this video.

the map shown at 25:25 is a map found on obsidian conflict, I don't recall what the map is called though, install the mod and find out perhaps. The mod has been around since 2011 so it is probably the oldest possible version of the map available to the public

23:50 on a related note, the same happened with me and my lolas resteraunt "alfredos" in newzealand, i have fond memories of the place and the food there, but it closed some few years ago after my lola retired and sold the place. When i came back to newzealand for vacation with my family, i was told its been replaced with a coffee shop, but...i didnt want us to drive around that spot to go look, i wanted to hold onto the idea my grandmothers resteraunt was still there, around the corner of the building that sits infront of it. i miss that place and the food my lola made with that oven.

The gm_harvest map seems to be a sandbox conversion of the Obsidian Conflict map, oc_harvest, which can still be found if I'm not mistaken.
Throughout the years, GMod is still a success masterpiece and has a lot of memories to bedone here, it became one of my hobbies on artworks as well. One thing i somewhat disagree is a lack of optimization on perf since source engine is really old and toppling the game's performance. Anyways thanks bro for giving a detailed info for each topics
