LEGO Trains Controlled by Twitch Viewers

- MonoTownTV now has a chatbot that lets my livestream viewers on Twitch control my LEGO trains. Built with TMI.js, Node.js, and NodePoweredUp, this bot runs on a Raspberry Pi 4 and can control any LEGO Powered Up motor via Bluetooth. Twitch viewers can control up to three trains within my LEGO city and see the action happening from a variety of camera angles.

This is an awesome project! I wonder if MonoTown could be even more fun with (semi)autonomous trains/vehicles/machines going around town?
Thanks! Yeah, my plan is to incorporate some of that. I hadn't thought about autonomous vehicles, but that could be a fun project!

Have you ever had an idea and figured it already exists so you google it and lo and behold someone already made it, usually with a cool video or article attached? I just did that with lego trains wireless charging, then with lego trains carring beer, and then lego trains controlled by twituc streamers, and youre 2/3 of those lol. I wish i had a house, i would definitely be making my train pickup snacks you can pick on your phone, habe it be able to go through every room in my house, and have the audience war over them in the background to get the snacks to me. I really like the idea of audience interactivity and being lazy so a few snacks are always on deck to be carried to you at any time. You haven't posted in a long time, any future plans?
Hey thanks for checking in! We have a MASSIVE amount of stuff we're working on - if you head over to instagram or tiktok you can see some shorter updates, but basically, we've outgrown our LEGO room and moved into a dedicated studio. Stay tuned for a bunch of projects including rebuilding the city, doing wireless charging of trains (yes, working on that), upgrades to be able to control trains and their routes (including RFID detection of cars and locomotives), lighting, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff! I'm hoping to be underway in content production in the next 30-60 days!

We've only had a couple of crashes so far! Thankfully, nothing has hit the floor...but speed limits had to be tightened up a little... :)

it's a lot of custom code! but stay tuned as I'm going to start streaming again soon and we have an entirely blank canvas for a new city build!
