It's great having stuff to show for our passion, but the most rewarding collections, in my view, are experiences...travel, dining, conversations because others get to take pleasure in participating and that's where real "Bonds" get made

Thanks so much for giving a window on how to deal with finances in a relationship, Bond collecting our not. A great resource on where and why to get certain items. Thanks for sharing your passion with all the Bond fans!

I love Bond but don't collect it like yourself. I do collect Disney. A wide variety of it. Sadly my first wife never really understood it so she was kind of ho-hum on it. I was still collecting when I met my second wife. She was interested in it but never had a problem with it. Yes, your thinking two wives. I was married first at 19 and being that young we ended up growing in different directions. My second ended when I had a medical scare and she saw a reason to have another person comfort her so I left. Now, my third wife (We dated in High School for a while) we happened to reconnect as friends on Facebook kind of went places together at first and well after dating a year, being engaged two years, we got married. The background here is important as by now my collection is quite large. But she doesn't mind at all and finds it interesting. This year I'm going to thin it out somewhat as I have doubles of some pieces and others well they just don't make my top ten list. What shocked my wife is when I began looking at the current value of some of these items, as she is helping with shipping them out, how much they were worth. I have some that are valued at $10 and some as high as $2000. All of what I bought I paid next to nothing for as some it was not popular at the time or hunted down at estate sales, where they sold them just to get rid of them, plus even some garage sales. I do have one item I bought that's from 1933 where a few people have contacted me to sell privately to one of them and right now my current offer on it is $8000. My wife is floored by this. I paid $25 for it at a flea market 10 years ago. She asked me what I was going to do with all of the money coming from this and I told her I was looking to have us as debt free as possible and what I get from the 1933 item could go to a new car downpayment. She was also floored by that as she said that since I spent my money to collect it all I should just get something nice for myself. This is what I love about her and never should have let us drift apart after High School and I would have been married to the right person in the first place. She has such a big heart but it still took me a week to talk her into it. One thing she put on the table is we should take a mini honeymoon to Walt Disney World. The last time she was there was when she was six. So far the plan might be in 2019 as she would like to go once some of the new items going in are opened. Star Wars and the Tron rollercoaster as she loves them. Plus with a tidy sum saved staying on a nice on property resort plus some souvenirs, and dining will be fun for us both.

She does not flip out because it's a form self improvement! He looks better, dresses better, keeps in shape! What girl wouldn't want that?!

Interesting discussion. For myself, I've always lived by the intrinsic values of others and myself. I feel those I surround myself by simply respect me for what I enjoy because it's a part of being me - just as I love being a part of what gets them excited. At times they want to be involved. As long as you aren't being financially irresponsible, I feel a lot of what I was hearing around individuals being judgemental, defensive, rationalizing, and ~tolerant is an unfortunate way of being in a relationship (or even friendship). Quite frankly, it's an opportunity for the significant other to get to know you a little better. After all, why else be in a relationship if it's not to discover ways of becoming closer and sharing in experiences, whatever that experience may be.

I bought a Rolex Submariner 114060 (to me the most faithful modern alternative to the original Bond Submariner)
and didn’t tell my fiancée about it...she was irate, and I sold the watch to make amends. We talked it out and I recently bought a Rolex Sea-Dweller 126600 - not the most faithful Rolex to Bond, but then again Fleming never mentioned what model Bond actually wore.

Hey David, great channel! I have a couple of questions. Have you ever considered displaying your collection of Bond products in an exhibit?
Second question is have you considered doing some videos from the James Bond Experience targeted for Bond Girls? These could feature the dresses and jewelry worn by the Bond Girls.

Hey David, really interesting video! I m also supporting the 100% transparency collecting hobby. Do you actually aquire multiple pieces for your collection? F.E i use my Cumbria Crystal Tumbler for drinking water, but what to do when it breaks and it isnt produced anymore. Could be for the most bond items, clothes, shoes, gloves

Hello David what a great video! I want to ask you that for the both church's and sanders chukka boot do you use 8.5? For example in normal tennis shoes I use 9.5 but In converse shoes I use 9 (EUR 42.5) Do you use the same size? Should I have to buy 8.5 or 8 on chukka boots? Thank you very much for your help! And about the subject of the video I very happy that my girlfriend gets excited as well as me when I bought my Sunspel riviera polo and anything that I buy about Bond I always tell her and ask her also what she thinks cuz I like to know. You shouldn't be afraid of telling/want something that you like. It makes who you are :D

Mihajlo Stosic if you’re being nit-picky, I think what you perceive as low quality is the lighting, but remember this is a hobby for him and it looks fine imo. You might also check your internet connection to see if the quality is being downgraded to compensate for a slow connection.
