We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
Why do I need a metal gate box for a residential deadbolt? I have a wood gate that's 1.5 inches thick, so I should be able to install it the same way as on any door.

@@LocksmithRecommended thats what I mean are there any wifi or zwave gate looks for outdoors? I have a metal gate that you can reach through so I need a smart gate lock that can be opened with an app and on schedule or remotely would really be ideal. I have not been able to find one made to use outdoors. Sounds like a business idea if no one has thought of it yet!!
@@dcipher77 There is only one smart lock out there that touts outdoor use. But it is a non name brand import. And very cheap. So I don't endorse it. I've never used it, but everything I know about it screams problems.

Good video! Very comprehensive for a complete wood gate installation. However, you should know that the electronic deadbolt you installed is not weather tight on both sides. Since it's meant for a house, they are only weather proof on the normally exterior side, not the normally interior side. I know of only one residential electronic deadbolt that claims a rating on both sides for outdoor use. It's a cheap import so I'm dubious, but haven't tested it yet.

What kind of locks can be used for swing gates that don't have a fixed post at all
