Good evening everyone! Welcome or welcome back to this week’s meals of the week folks :) I hope you’ve all had a good week! I’ll join you down in the comments for a wee while :)
Oh I always watch your shopping video too. It is just disappointing though for me as I ám disabled and need a scooter and Aldi and Lidl are the only two supermarkets who do not offer this to their customers. If ever they go to online i will try it though. Would like to try the handwash as it is supposed to be exactly like Molton Brown's. Monday's quiche meal is my favourite this week but that lasagne looked heavenly too. Mr What's for Tea is one lucky man!

Hello... still raining here in Colorado. And now, I get to take a journey to Scotland, get some lovely recipes.And of course, I get to listen to Cheryl’s amazing voice and accent. Somehow... so soothing and relaxing. Little bit of an ASMR session. And btw, I call your ‘ham salad’, a ‘ham power plate’ in my home.

Ham salad here in US is finely diced or ground deli or leftover ham, mayo and small bit of sweet pickle relish. Sandwich filling, like tuna salad. You made what we call a salad plate. Salad plate usually have at least one protein and salad type veggies and the mayo based salad mix. Yours is lovely.

I would travel from Las Vegas USA to Scotland 🏴 just to eat dinner at your house!!
I love seeing the salad & soup/sandwich ideas. We now have sandwich night every week with 2-3 kinds of lunchmeat, cheeses; cooked bacon and all the toppings like lettuce, onion and tomato. Usually do a salad on the side & everyone makes their own favorite sandwich. It's been a big hit
I think the best thing about her channel isn’t necessarily what she cooks as the meals are actually quite basic if you think about it, it’s the way she helps people take the pressure off themselves to be almost a Stepford Wife in the kitchen (like I was many years ago). In reality a lovely soup (home made if you have time, bought if you haven’t), a nice fresh roll (Lidl excels here if you’re UK based) and some crisps on the side is a light but filling meal, especially for a quick lunch. Brilliant.
I will also make some wheat Free quishes for my tea at teatime Cheryl and I will enjoy them
Hiya! One thing I really miss living down south now is a mince round so will definitely have to make one 😃 Have you ever considered doing ‘what I eat in a day videos’? I think people would love it!

I always cook on Sunday to have meals for the week. I work a job and have two farms so I like to have things prepared. Makes it easy to come in, heat something up and then go to the field or barn.
Do you have a background in catering? Your meals all always look so delicious, professional and beautifully presented.

Your ham salad plate we call a picky tea, usually when im using stuff up before the next weeks shopping or running the freezer down lol
Fab meals this week Cheryl, I make Quiche for my daughter and never thought of making the small ones, thank you for letting us know. Recently I went out for lunch and had macaroni cheese and it had chopped chorizo in it, I know you like a bit of spice, it was wonderful. Your Lasagne looks well lush. I love most of the meals you make and you've given me so many ideas. I've certainly made loads of your recipes. I also love your shopping videos, again, always great ideas. My hubby is a big fan since I made him your beer battered fish lol. Thank you for sharing xxx

Well I did finally get to watch this video on Wednesday! Home from my travels but yesterday was so busy I barely got to do much after work.
I was the about the ham salad and to me it looks like a tuna plate. You always make your tuna with sweetcorn in the middle so it's the star of the show really.

Hi Cheryl, I'm from Liverpool and I always watch your unbagging shopping vids. It's so interesting to see the price difference from your area to ours.
Some of your prices are cheaper and vice versa , and it fascinates me to see the same produces with a Scottish name label against English labels on the same foods.
I do cook some of the same meal as yourself but it's interesting to see the way you make small adjustments to the ingredients.

I just love seeing the Mac n cheese. It always looks so delicious and comforting in the white baking dish. (I guess it’s actually clear! 😊) I’ve been wanting to try lasagna roll ups. They’re supposed to be less time consuming and just as tasty. New subscriber here enjoyed your meals. ❤

I think it’s appropriate to call the salad meal as a cold salad plate. This way you have flexibility on whatever ingredients you have on hand in your fridge or pantry that day.

I always use Aldi buff pastry David 😄 it's THE BEST in my opinion, and I've tried most of them! I have made my own puff pastry in the past...but it's such a faff! 😆

When i make lasagna i make 2. One to eat one to freeze
I would call that “ham salad” a deli plate or cold plate (an east coast Canada name for it)
I love your salads and salad platter. those quiche are beautiful. yummy soup and sandwich. I just made croutons. Yay for mac n cheese. Lasagna is always good. I sometimes make a quick skillet lasagna. the chicken and cheesy potatoes with carrots looks so good,. You mashed potatoes are so good...even better tan my Mamas. W love your mince too. Love ya.

A Spanish speaker might call your “ham salad” a “misto,” which means mixed salad.

This is how I used to eat and then I became diabetic so too many carbs for me now! 😞 All my favourite things, pasta, potato, bread, chips, rice all no good for me. Why couldn't they say that I wasn't allowed veg anymore, I could handle that lol.
Do you also make a pudding for after dinner?

You might do this - I live on my own & lasagna is one of my favourite dishes.
I'm not good on my legs so I have to make good use of them when I am up.
I make lasagna, but like you said it is a long process so you get the benefit of all the flavours fusing.
So rather than make a pan of the filling for one, I make a big pan then divide it into so many portions in a zip lock bag & freeze.
Now I take one out, defrost & I just have to make up the lasagna & put in my Air Fryer oven, slowly & all I have to do is sort out the bechamel sauce (defrost) the topping & the salad to go with it.
Hope I am not teaching my granny to suck eggs!!

Hi dearie! What is the most Scottish dinner you can think of? My wife and I are coming to Scotland (from Texas, USA) for 3 weeks to watch the world pipe championships in Glasgow. What food should be DEFINITELY eat?
The National dish is Chicken Tikka Masala, but I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for.
I'm sure other people will add suggestions, but if you're there for 3 weeks and looking for something more traditional you can definitely fit in a Spicy Haggis Supper from a chip shop.
@@theritchie2173 had wonderful masala in England….looking specifically at Scotland….not sure if it would be some sort of haggis like you said or maybe a spice bag or meat pie?
@DCTexas22 mince pie. Scotch eggs. Make sure you try the oatbread, it's fabulous. Take some Tesco rough Scottish oatcakes home with you--I adore them. Tatties and neeps. And fish and chips, of course.

I just returned from a week tropical location with my ageing mum and people ask how I can afford it and I cook everything at home and we rarely eat out. ......I know many parents don't have much time to cook after work but even a box or crumbed fish that you throw in the oven and some baked or boiled vegetables is cheaper and healthier than Uber Eats. ....Even if I have no time to make a friday night pizza I will still buy two boxes and a garlic bread from the supermarket and just bake it at home. The price of Uber Eats is just nuts......If you want take away then drive thru the drive-thru.........There is a youtube channel showing people how expensive Uber eats is.........Between saving money here and finding really cheap holiday deals then that is how I afford 1 week for 2 people in a tropical destination.
