Most of the ones in this video are non-US which tend to be my preference when it comes to organic/chemical filters. So I'm sharing with you an upgraded favourite, and my favs that also treat oily skin, well-aging, hyperpigmentation - PIE & PIH and a complexion flattering bronzing sunscreen! Enjoy, my Skin Squad 💋

      I disagree with this not being good for oily skin! It makes my summer oily/sweaty skin feeling like velvet (I have NEVER experienced this from a sunscreen before and I have tried at least 60-70!)dries down immediately! It's wonderful and I'm getting ready to reorder. It's really a dream 😍 Only con is I do notice when I wash my face at the end of the night, it makes my eyes a bit irritated.

    I’ve been so frustrated and disappointed with the sunscreens available in the US as they hardly see UVA/UVB or with any anti-aging or with really skin treatment benefits, they are pointless so it’s so wonderful finding a list of high quality recommendations, I really appreciate this video and hope you keep us updated as you find better and better options!

    Among all the beauty products and skincare practice sunscreen protection is nearly almost the most important of all. One can really see a difference on people face and body of different generations on people who are aware of sunscreen importance and those who aren't. Thankfully modern sunscreen products formulation have improved tremendously over the years making them much more easier to wear without feeling extremely tacky.

      Face mousse is great for every day. I have used kids and the SPF 50. They are a little sticky, but if it's sticky, then you just wait 15 minutes and then rinse with water to get the excess off. Absolutely life changing technology with kids. I use the face mousse for everyday but it takes about 30 min for me for it to totally dry down. But leaves a pleasant dewy finish and works well under makeup. Applying to body, using for ocean/swimming, if it feels sticky once you get in the water that goes away, because any excess comes off, but the fact that you don't have to reapply for 8 hours and don't get burned is worth it. Protected my family for a tropical vacation with extremely fair kids with UV index of 12. I do have dry skin though so it's possible that different skin it feels different.

    I'm confused about the garnier super UV as it only has 3/5 stars UVA protection, whereas the la Roche posay has PPD of 46 (very high) , so despite having the same filters the protection doesn't seem to compare.

    • @Valdairer
      @Valdairer 3 роки тому +7

      That is because you need to know that the boots star system displays the relation between UVA and UVB absorption a product can provide - the difference between these numbers determines the amount of stars. A sunscreen with a SPF of 20 and 4 stars does NOT offer more UVA protection than a sunscreen rated SPF 50+ but 3 stars. The LRP fluid would most probably reach “only” 3 stars as well simply because the UVB absorption is rather high. The system is using relative numbers, much like the UVA circle (at least 1/3 of UVB protection but not a specific/absolute figure).

    • @dimatsonkova128
      @dimatsonkova128 3 роки тому

      Since they are a “lower” brand, Garnier likely didn’t pay for the additional tests that they’d have to perform for the exact Boots star rating, as the formula is so similar to LRP and uses the same Netlock technology. So, they went with the lowest possible rating a sunscreen can be labelled, namely 3 stars (you can’t have a 2-star sunscreen or lower as per the UVA circle).

    • @hollymaylin2312
      @hollymaylin2312 3 роки тому

      @@dimatsonkova128 One of the other sunscreens in this range (the anti dryness spf) has a 4 star rating, so Im not sure it adds up that they didn't pay for the tests. Do you have a source for that? Also garnier is not a lower brand they are a huge corporation, one of the top selling brands for skincare and haircare in the UK, so if anyone has the money for extra testing it's them.

    • @hollymaylin2312
      @hollymaylin2312 3 роки тому +1

      Ah I see, thank you for explaining that. One of the other suncreens in the garnier range has a star rating of 4, would that mean it has less UVB protection? Or is it better to just ignore the star rating altogether lol?

    • @Valdairer
      @Valdairer 3 роки тому

      @@hollymaylin2312 You are talking about another Garnier SPF 50+ product I assume. Your assumption could be right or false. This is a highly complex subject and I don't want to cause more confusion, so I'll try to be as comprehensible as possible and outline some reference points: SPF and UVB absorption are NOT the same thing. The calculated SPF is basically the ratio between the amount of time before skin burns with and without sunscreen applied on it. It can be said that SPF is the sunburn protection factor with an estimated component. UVB is mostly responsible for sunburns, hence the common synonymous usage.
      There is research showing that UVB absorption goes hand in hand with increasing SPF, but that does NOT mean every SPF 30 product features identical UVB absorption.
      The problem with the boots star rating is that a lot of consumers are drawing the wrong conclusions from the amount of stars. On their website you can read that "it’s generally recommended that you use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15, along with a UVA rating of 4 or 5 stars."
      Yes, a higher SPF most likely means higher UVB absorption. No, a UVA-3-stars product does NOT mean inadequate UVA protection.
      See the stars as additional information. Don't stress yourself by these numbers. For instance, I used to use a SPF 50+ with very high UVA-PF (that one didn't have 5 stars by the way) but disliked the whole reapplication process with it. Now I use an SPF 50+ by Garnier for a fraction of that price. This one has the UVA circle only - no PPD, UVA-PF, no stars. And I am so happy to say I couldn't care less about it. I know the UVA-PF is at least 20 (because of the 1/3 of SPF rule) and I like the integrated UV-filters. I am so sure that on the long run I get "better" protection using this than the previously mentioned one. I apply more because I don't feel it on my face, my bank account doesn't feel it, I reapply because it's fun (if that is even possible). Sorry, I lost myself at some point haha

    In Canada, we have Bioderma Pigmentbio Daily care 50. It does not mention SPF at all. Must not meet CDN current regulations. It is ingredient identical to the European Daily care SPF 50++. Every the 'beauty advisor' at the store said it had no SPF...as she read the ingredients right off the label. *SMH*. Anyway bought it, came home and put on my face. It's so lovely and it softens the look of every imperfection. j'adore!

    Love your recommendations, funny 2020 was the year I tried a lot of SPF while staying at home 🤣 what can I say, well at least I found a few good for summer 2021, for daily use I'm loving Heliocare Fernblock range, most are great performers with subtle tints but not subtle scent, but the tolerance fluid- yeah the only tinted mineral with no fragrance has to be my fav!!! Then P20 is with me to beaches 🏖️

    Tha k you for this! 🙏🙏 I have used Ultrasun for years then recently found out I’d being using it wrong all this time 😭😭😂 apparently with ULTRASUN products you apply the sunscreen first ( after cleanse and tone) then other skincare on top?
    Never known this before. I tried it that way and my skin felt really dry even with adding the moisturiser over the sunscreen so I’m on the search sadly for another one! 😔😔

    I don't blame you. Western sunscreens have always made me feel as if my skin was being suffocated. Very similar to drugstore excema creams which are horrible as well but but that's a whole other issue lol Actually I have you to thank for behaving with sunscreen now 😁😁😁💜💜💜 Especially after having discovered Supergoop. I mean what is more amazing than makeup and skincare with bomb spf. I'm beyond hooked.Oh, and the glow is absolutely stunning. But most importantly my skin can breathe and I'm not packing my pores with yuck&gunk 😂😂😂

    Hi Renée!
    Could you please recommend some very safe sunscreen options (and/or eye creams with a good SPF) for very sensitive eyes, that don't sting or irritate at all? I've used some of the great products you recommend and they are known as safe ones to use around the eyes but yet cause irritation even when the eye area is avoided.
    Thank you!
