You don't know Mike Oldfield? The man is multiinstrumentalist genius. Do some study and listen to his 70s music. Its one of the most beautiful music ever written. He is Bach or Mozart of your times.
Been a fan of Mike since 1981 when I first heard his album QE2 (1980), most of his stuff is instrumental but he has had some great guest Vocalists thru the years
Mike Oldfield's 1st album Tubular Bells came out it 1973, the first release from Richard Branson's Virgin Records. The theme from the movie The Exorcist came from this album. All the other parts of the vast Virgin empire sprung from this beginning. He is fundamentally a rock musician but does long symphonic-like pieces and sometimes he is lumped in with New Age music. He did the soundtrack for the movie "The Killing Fields" about the Khmer Rouge's mass-murder of their own Cambodian people. One of his songs "Family Man" got covered by Hall & Oakes. One of the musicians who played at the opening of the London Olympics. Extremely talented guitarist and composer. The guest singer on Nuclear is Luke Spillee from The Struts. Mike performed in Berlin for the Millennium New Years Eve concert. He’s amazing from classical to pop to heavy!

Alex I thought I would give you a little bit of history about Mike Oldfield. The track you reviewed wasn't written for a video game, the video game company picked the track from Mike's extensive catalogue of work which in fact spans right back to the early 1970's. At the age of 16 Mike wrote his album Tubular Bells, it was released when he was 19 years of age. Almost all of the instruments were played by him. The album was the first to be released on the Virgin Records label, Virgin as a brand may not even exist today if not for the success of this album. The introduction on the album was used as the theme music to the movie The Exorcist (not a decision made by Mike) which helped the album rocket up the charts following an initial slow start in sales. The album is still selling in significant numbers even to this day. He was selected to perform extracts from this album during the opening ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012. Give this video a watch and it may give you an idea of what a talented and important artist he is. Oh! I didn't knew this song. But I know the singer in it! Luke Spiller! He is the vocalist of the Rock band The Struts! I like them! They're not Metal but you should check them! One Night Only or Primadonna Like Me are good songs of them to try. I hope you put them on your "Future Reactions List".

A unique guitarist who makes the guitar sing with great feeling, he can play folk, Spanish, classical, pop, ambient, World rock has done many great ballads with Maggie Reilly, notably Moonlight Shadow, though I orefer To France. You must check out Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn!
this song is really powerful. mike oldfield did a great job on this song. im not sure if it was intentional or not but the singing style and filtering of it sounds very mid to late 60's similar to songs like house of the rising sun or some of the other Vietnam era songs
