Medaase! My mom passed away this year and I was always too intimidated to try to make Jolllof. I made it for the first time using your recipe and it reminded me so much of her. I don’t know why I was intimidated, following your recipe was easy. Medaase.
I'm sorry for your loss. It's so good to know that this video helped you cook Jollof. It's so special how cooking certain dishes reminds us of our loved ones. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Omg ma’am!!! This my first time making jollof rice as I am an American girl married to a Ghanaian and this came out soooooo delicious 🤤 wowwwww my husband is so proud 🇬🇭
I’m African American and my best friend who is Ghanaian has shown me how to make jollof. I had been looking for a video recipe to also follow along with as I make it for my first time. Your videos on the simple and the fancy jollof rice are extremely helpful and the closest to her family recipe. Thank you so much and wish me luck. 😊🙏🏾 P.S. My boyfriend is also Ghanaian and I'm trying to learn for him. So I'll be subscribed for more dishes! Medase!
WOW, Ive tried for many years to make a Proper Jollof Rice, and after watching your video something clicked, I understood everything. I am American, and my daughter is Ghanian/American, I know how to cook all the stews but this rice has always been a challange. But today I did it. Thanks a lot. God bless you
I’m a Southern African girl. The way I love jollof, I think God is telling me my husband is going to be from one of the jollof nations 😂 thank you for the simple recipe
Looks absolutely delicious. I'm a English woman who absolutely loves African food & carribean. I already know how to cook carribean food so I'm now learning African. I make Nigerian jollof rice, its nice but not perfect as I'm still learning. I will attempt this recipe tomorrow. Thank you for sharing
This was awesome! My ex husband used to cook this. He was from Ghana. I'm going to cook this , but I'm going to use neck bones are chicken instead! Thanks
Michelle this makes me so happy, I also love Mexican food and plan to go visit one day, as we too welcome you to Ghana. Please also try Groundnut Soup, this is our national dish, but be careful, it'll put booty on you! 😂 Enjoy Senorita!
can’t wait to eat it !! look so goood!!! fried beef on the rices and vegetables .. There’s no way that this isn’t good. thank you for your video. I will try to make this tonight after work :)
Born and Raised in the United States of America, I was introduced to Jollof Rice about 5 years ago, by my friends here who are from Ghana (Kumasi). I LOVE it. The last 2 years or so, I have ventured into cooking my own. Still a novice, but I am improving. LOL. This looks SOOOOO GOOOOOOD! I will definitely use some of your tips, to add to what my friends from Ghana taught Me. Thanks.
Really good and easy receipe video. I tried for the first time in a week ago and it was really really tasty. Next time I am gonna try something else to grow up my skills and learn something new. Thank you so much.
A few months ago a West African diner owned by a Lebanese couple who lived a long time in Sierra Leone and the chef's are West African opened near the area I live in and my very first West African dish was Tieboudienne and I was amazed from it being delicious. A few days ago I had Ebbeh (made from cassava) and also was amazing though very spicy. And today I had Pepe Soup (Pepper Stew with fish) also really amazing. I look forward to try more West African dishes in the near future.
All those dishes sound delicious! In this playlist (bit.ly/ghanaian-food-playlist) you'll find more West African, specifically Ghanaian recipes. Hope you enjoy your West African food adventure!
I had never tried any African countries recipes & cooking before. But this one i think is a must! I want to taste the similarities & differences with Asian rice recipes.
Followed this recipe for my brother who loves jollof rice , turned out delicious! thank you, i am going to refer to this recipe from now on. + like to add that i didn't have maggi cubes on hand ( had a little breakdown lol) , so i made a stock from the meat and used that as a substitute :)
I love your videos. They are short and to the point! Perfect. There is a type of rice theAfrican ladies always have at church. It's similar to this one but it has nothing in it and it's kid of dry and really dark red. What kind of rice is that?
Great video. Brought back good memories of my mum making jollof. Finally nailed the recepie with this video, my 5 year old thinks Daddy is a superstar :)
Thank you for watching the video’s and making the recipes! Really appreciate the support! Hope you like the Jollof 😊 I have an old Kelewele recipe on this channel, will be making an updated one in the near future
This turned out amazing! Thank you, I will make this again, maybe with a little less scotch bonnet, I like it hot, but I think one will be enough for my family.
Hey Queen, I made your chicken stew recipe and I'm lost for words. It was AMAZING! I love how you include curry in almost every tomatoe stew. You really made me love curry lol. Now I'm here making your jollof rice for the second or third time. I really wish your channel would blow up. You have the easiest and tastiest recipes ever. Have a nice day.
Waouw this is the simpliest Jollof Rice recipe I've never seen... It seems so simple and yet so yummy...I'll definitely give it a try...God bless you..And I also have a question : Can we replace tomatoes paste by tomate purée , I know the consistency is not the same but I was just wondering... 🤷🏽♀️
Thanks! I haven't tried replacing tomato paste with tomate purée so I'm not sure how that works out with the taste. It might possible have effect on the colour though. The paste assists in giving the rice its colour.
Thank you for your video, how to cook jollof rice.I am Thai and my bf he's Nigeria so I would like to learn how to cook african food P.S. I can cook jollof rice to good because of your video 🥰
I love ur careful demonstration... very easy to follow... thank u but I was not very clear on e spices used... did u add other spices apart from e maggi cubes n curry??
Thank you Abigail! I did not add any other spices apart from maggi cubes and curry powder. I find that along with magi and curry the red bell pepper and garlic flavours it enough.
Thanks for the recipe i will cook this for my dad and family my grandmother past away before I was born and my auntie would make this for my dad when he was sick I'll just add less salt and pepper cause his heart is a machine now
Hello, I had a great time making this and it was a brunch of amazing flavors! I wanna say I’m not sure if I did something wrong ? But it seem like to took the rice and carrots a long time to cook?? Maybe it was my stove? But I will definitely make jollof rice again✌️🍽🍽🍽😁😁😁. Thank you for sharing😁😁

How long did you cook the stew be4 adding the rice
8-10 minutes over a low to medium fire
This the exact recipe that my grand mother taught me but I forgot it all! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for watching Solène ❤
How do you know it's the exact same recipe you were taught if you forgot the recipe you learned?

i love the way u put the peas and carrots to the jollof it makes it nicer this is why I love Ghana
Sister Amna, you’re spoiling me with your lovely mouth watering dish for teatime or lunchtime.
She use maggi cubes. That’s how you know this is the real deal.
🤣🤣🤣
@Koolaid Purple Nigerians always use Maggi
@Koolaid Purple 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
I'm baffled, how and why maggi cubes made it to Ghana and into Ghanaian recipies. I would have expected to find some fresh herb or spice there.
Why maggi cubes?? Is there other spices to replace the cubes?
can’t wait to eat it !! look so goood!!!
fried beef on the rices and vegetables ..

The Ghanaian Jollof Rice really reminds me of the Senegalese "thiep bou diene "...It almost looks the same to me...
Thieboudienne and Jollof have allot of similarities :)
Jollof is their version of Wollof.
It's the same. Senegalese thiep bon dienne is the original jollof rice.
Looks like Jambalaya! 😊😊
