2 times I have lost my wallet, with quite significant amount of money in it. (I am a self-employed gardener, and do trade almost daily in cash). Both times my wallet was delivered to me, with nothing stolen from it. First time was in 2003 and the second time was in 2019.. :)
I can tell you on the spot that this would NEVER EVER happen in France 😂😳!

Being from Jutland, in the summer it's very common to see those tables at the roadside, selling potatos, peas, strawberries or whatever. And sometimes they even have moneybanks standing on the table. They expect you to pay, and walk away with the items you've bought.
And not only do they trust you to not steal the items .. they also expect you to leave the moneybank, without emptying it!
It has become rarer, since MobilePay ... but it's still seen :)

I'm Danish and have seen 2 of your videos, all you're telling is right, as a Danish citizen im feeling blessed, I've travelled some around the world, and you don't have to travel far just to experience no trust in others.. And extremely selfish behaviour

That's good to hear. I come from a place in Denmark where we get a lot of german tourists, we really enjoy their presence and most of my friends and family speak german to some extent because of that.
Yes. But we have to learn more danish. And not otherwise.
Yes Denmark is a quite safe place to live and there is a lot of trust among strangers. As a student I often studied at cafes or libraries. If I at some point had to use the restroom, I would simply ask the people at the next table, if they would look after my computer etc. I’ve have never had anything stolen and I have looked after a lot of peoples stuff through the years. Of course you have to use your intuition and always evaluate if the person seems trustworthy, but in general you are fine to leave your stuff with strangers.
Once in Guatemalas capital and I HAD to go to the bathroom. On a bench outside there were 2 people sitting there and I asked them to care for the luggage. When i returned my things were still there. Absolutely unheard of in Guatemala. - trust is a wonderful thing :-) (Finn/Denmark)
Interesting to hear about your exeriences. You are right.. we've had Klassens tid in schools since the midt 1970's
@A French Woman Living In Denmark In case you are interested this goes back to Kindergarden where it is customary to guide the kids to negotiate their conflicts on their own and only interfering as a last resort. When the kids are 4-5'ish.

Another good thing about the Danish education system is that the kids will have the same classmates, from grade 0 to grade 9. Gives an excellent sense of community, create a great network and friends for life. And you have the option to let the kids join the after-school program called SFO. Where they play, experience slot of things with other kids.

When the School was still open, All of us would leave our bagpacks just outside of the store while we were in there. There have never been anybody who stole anything and it was more likely that we forgot our bagpacks at the store. If that happened, we would just go to the store again and take our bagpacks. It is very safe to leave your items unatended in Denmark. I love it lol
Klassens time was implemented decades ago. I'm in my mid 50's and when I was in school we already had "klassens time" every week :)

That's a positive rating you give us, thank you. Something I myself see as a strength in the Danish system is the attention we have to the quality of our food. Here there are strict rules for food safety. These are contents, additives, packaging and storage. We have a ministry responsible for this. We are constantly fighting with the EU to ban certain substances in food that we deem harmful. But it is a struggle against multinational companies and their lobbyists in the EU who are using all means to preserve their privileges. Unfortunately, in many ways, the EU is a union for businesses to a greater extent than for the consumer. Nice that such an appealing person as you has fallen in love with Denmark and a Dane. 💖

I'm 37 and I have 2 children. 9 years old and 4 years old. I was considering Denmark for raising my children but lots of people told me that Danes are quite distant and rude.
What you're saying about Danish people is literally the opposite.
I'm from Argentina and I'm currently living here but I always imagined Denmark as a model country where everything works perfect.
I've been to Italy for example (I have my Italian citizenship) and I didn't like it. I love Italy but only for visiting not for raising my children.

👋🏻 thanks for your comment 😊 i think the opinion on people (any not just danish) is relative to a lot of factors : where you’re from, your own open mindedness to other cultures , how you were raised and so on.. i share my personal opinion and point of view but some people would see it from a different angle 🙂 you just need to find the things that matter to you in the country you want to live in (like education) and if it has those points 😉
@@AFrenchWomanLivingInDenmark I really love the idea of raising my children with a high standard of living like Danish people have. I would love learning their language, respect their culture. Actually, there are many argentineans living in de Denmark but I'm not sure how respectful they are about Danish culture. I just want to live in peace and raise my children in a culture where tolerance and acceptance are welcome. So, this video is nice because there is another point of view. Thank you for that! I wish I had Danish friends (something that according to many people is complicated to get heheh).

And we leave our babies to sleep outside in their pram/stroller❤️💙 And our children are not stolen🙏I think danes are brought up trusting and caring for each other. We share a real care and interrest for other people🇩🇰😄

I wonder why in some countries children are stolen, for example in the US many children are kidnapped. Is the same thing happening in France that children are at risk of being kidnapped? 🇩🇰
@@EL-fd4fk yes, i have seen cases of missing children multiple times in France in the 2 decades I’ve lived there, not to say it happens all the time but it’s not rare either 😖
@@AFrenchWomanLivingInDenmark just to check my self I looked it up. Since 1965 2 children have been taken from standing outside. 1 has never been found and the other was taken by a sick woman and found after a few hours🙏

Omg I finally understand what klassens time actually was about :P I thought it was so weird in school, that they had a class just to do fun stuff, because there was very rarely any problems.

I have a small hypothesis about safety and courtesy. Travelling in Spain, France, Germany the UK and the US people have much better manners than Danes in general - but I realized - certainly in the US - courtesy is also used as "interpersonal" diplomacy - greeting politely is for someone to express/signal that - I'm a normal person and I am not trying to harm you. So - basically - the more trust is build and the safer people feel - the less they feel the urge to be polite/ courteous.

Uhmm i totally disagree. You cant compare manners that way. Its bound to culture, so in one location something you see as "bad manner" might be perfectly normal in that location.
Also people from certain regions are alot more "fragile" then other regions of the world. Often a person from Usa would think danish are "cold" at first glance. But we not, our culture is just alot diffirent from there's so it feels that way.
We are dont waste each other time with idle chatter, i mean .. we will never meet again, so why bother. Plus you are busy getting somewhere, and so am i. Lets just continue instead.
BUT .. if you talked to us anyway . Then you would find we would respond and help you if you needed that. We just dont "search" for the idle chatter, like someone from Usa would do. To me it seems more normal from people over there to talk to random strangers suddenly.
Just like its normal to tip in some countries, It is not in Denmark. So that would could as bad manners to you ? I heard it does for others.
So has nothing to do with manners, has all to do with culture.

Have you seen the crime news in Denmark? in the USA or UK it would be about several pretty serious things. In Denmark I remember it being about a pig escaping or similar - in fact i can't really remember it as nothing was happening. Minimal crime - apart from bicycle crime - I lost count of the amount of times my bike lights were stolen when it was parked outside a bar.
With regards to openness and curiosity, and willingness to talk and inquire about a stranger; I suspect it helps that you are stunning. Research shows that beautiful, smiling, friendly and open people get better treatment everywhere.

I agree with everything! Unfortunately, while Denmark technically hasn't outlawed immigration (yet - I'm sure there are some Danes would would like to), the practical barrier to entry is rather high. That's the one thing I don't love about Denmark. (Well...that, and liquorice and marzipan, hehe.) But I guess preserving the monoculture is how they're able to maintain such a high degree of social harmony.
But we here in denmark dont judge a lot so youre right about that one😇

As a dane i find it funny that you said that we are open and friendly._. Foreigners usually say the opposite._.
I guess if I was from the US for example I would probably see it from a very different perspective but coming from France , Danish people are very nice compared to French people xD Generally speaking of course :)
I'm also French and I totally agree with Margaux. I'd add that despite having a worldwide reputation for being supposedly so proud of our country, a lot of us actually ran away from it because of how uncivil it's become.
I think she used the phrase open minded which is not the same as being open. Whilst we might not be as open as other nationalities, we are very open minded. After all Denmark was the first country to legalise porn ;-)

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us....and I would love to find out how could we move to Denmark and choose the cheapest city to rent a house and to find a job as an European citizen that just speaks English? It's definitely a lovely country but it could be very scary and difficult to be accepted easly for a job and there for to rent a little flat or house. If you could share with us those precious informations that would be very useful for many of us. Thank you in advance for your support.

First you need to know that you need an EU permit to stay longer than 3 months in Denmark , you have several ones to choose from (google move to Denmark) , obviously with covid it may be a bit more difficult to move , i’m not sure ...
and when it comes to finding a job without speaking danish it could be quite easy in København but life is rather expensive , the cheapest cities would be on Fyn or Jutland but then it’s harder to find a job without some danish..
i would focus on Aarhus and Odense which are the 2 biggest cities after København in Denmark.
Of course you can start learning danish before moving there and take classes when you arrive also 😊 i hope that helps a bit. I will make a couple videos about it soon 😉

The fourth thing you love about Denmark is not true, danish are anti-social. I live in Aalborg, and it's rare to see people smiling at me. I lived in France too, but they are better at starting conversations.

Education is not really free. Nothing in this world is free. Before the government can hand out money, they have to take them from the population. I hate when people or politicians try to tell we have free this and free hospitals. WE pay for everything with the highest taxes in the world.
I you moved to Denmark and got a "free" education, that's great. It just meant that someone else paid it for you.
