I have been to France every year for 40 years and I fel in love with the country and the french people at first glance. France has so much to offer, food art nature history intertainment, it,s fantatic. We europeans have so much to give each others. Vive la France
I love loving in Denmark. No place in the world is perfect, but after having lived, gone to school and worked in several different countries I honestly can say that Denmark comes pretty close to being so☺️🇩🇰👍🏼

I have been in Paris many times (actually all over France too) and I must admit that I do admire the french women I see in the street, so chic and fashionable, oh my ! (And another thing, sigh, french women can walk .. I mean really .. they can walk!!)
I just visited Denmark in February with my partner and we were so lucky that the day after we booked, Denmark ended the Corona restrictions. After living in fear for two years, it was like a breath of fresh air to visit beautiful Copenhagen and not have to wear a mask etc. We noticed how everyone cycles, which is fantastic and even to the Opera House, they travel by bike. We went to see La Boheme and walked along the canals and beautiful bridges to get there, which was a pleasure. I was also amazed to see slim, healthy opera singers as I have only ever seen heavily built ones before. The Opera House was a stunning building and there was a lovely atmosphere inside. It is also the best La Boheme I have ever seen - it was that good. What I loved most about the Danish people was their down-to-earth attitude and it is the way that my partner and I are, so we felt that we fitted in. I also love the fact that they don't stand on ceremony and are very genuine people. We only had good experiences on our trip and we really miss Copenhagen. It is a very beautiful city and it also feels real. We are now trying to learn Danish and having a lot of fun in the process. I love your videos as they are interesting and very informative.

I am Danish, live in Germany, works for an American multinational company and the majority of my team and colleagues are French. You are so right about these two points of appearance and community spirit/compliance! Working from home for a year now, I have gotten into the habit of checking my meeting schedule before getting out of bed. Do I need to fix my hair/makeup and put on nice clothes (waist up ha ha) or are my Team meetings all off camera that day. A couple of female French colleagues called me with video unexpectedly, and they ‘bullied’ me for my ponytail and sweatshirt.
In regards to Covid management, it is more challenging in our French plant and offices. People are more likely to exhibit risky behavior on their own time than Northern Europeans like car pooling, going out to bars and not practicing social distancing.

Hi! I thought I might give you a few (hopefully) useful "tips" on danes and danish living!
The best way to get to know danes and learn danish is to join some kind of club in sports (team sports) a local theatre "group" or hobby No matter where you live in Denmark there are lots of options.
Danes can seem difficult to get to know as they often have close circles of old friends (does NOT mean they arent open to new friendships😉) and are inherently very respectful of other peoples privacy, rights, freedom and personal space. This can be missinterpreted as lack of interest or care, but it truly isnt.
An example can be turists that come to Denmark and go shopping, leave thinking that the store personel is rude because they in most cases wont approach you before you show signs of wanting assistance. But actually its because they are respecting your freedom and right to look around, try on things aso in your "own time" as well as showing that they consider you to be an intelligent, trustworthy, capable person (but if they do approach you quickly its just because its shop policy and not because they dont trust you😉). Celebrities are rarely approached by others out of respect and understanding for their privacy aso.
But if you take the first step and reach out/ask for help, danes are most often delighted to help you in any way they can, get to know you aso. Where ever you are moving to, try checking out the towns homepage and/or ask your new nabours, local shop owners aso for information on activities, clubs etc. Get to know the local danes (also fastest way to learn danish wich I am afraid is NOT an easy language to learn!😳😁) and the community. Also if you have children its a good idea to send them to a local school aso and I am shure you will come to love Denmark as much as I do. Greetings from Copenhagen, Denmark🙂🇩🇰👍🏼
@@annahart69 As a Dane. I totally agree with Anna :-) ! We like our privacy and assume the same for you. We don't wanna be - assumed to be intrusive. Yes! We have our bobble of old friends! So your next door neighbor (or anyone), is probably not gonna "knock" on your door :-) ! If your good people, there's room in our "bobble" ;-) ! Can anyone have friends enough?
31 years ago, I was working Security at the local branch of "American Express" in Copenhagen. This guy from Texas walks in, and we start talking :-) ! We ended up being friends for years. Terry introduced me to his friend David. We since lost contact to Terry :-( , but David, his wife and daughter have since become members of my bobble! regarding make-up I prefer that women are natural and find it repulsive when they are made up, it is the industry that makes girls insecure so they think they have to be unnatural to be real
I know a lot of men, who fell in love with their wives - when the women were not dressed up, but were close to natural, not wearing the "make-up" facade. Many men prefer the real woman - I for instance, think my wife is most beautiful when she wakes up in the morning, completely messed up with morning hair and everything. I can just se how well she feels, after a good night's sleep, happy inside and the glow in her eyes. That's pure beauty, coming from the inside.. The real woman I love.

Agree that women have to calm down and stop wearing to much make up, and to often. Men get the assumption that women look like that (fake, with make up). We need to see more natural women, who only use the very basic of make up. And only do hardcore make up when attenting birthdays, christmas and presidentials visits and so on 😄
While I do agree that a society where one gender is expected to put much more effort into their appearance than the other, is...not good - saying that women should calm down, should use basic makeup at this time, and hardcore makeup at that time, is... hardly any better. But in my personal taste, I agree that natural is prettier :)

I won't be any make up police, nor should we have that look upon make up. Personaly i don't like "fake" but it can "inhance" looks.
People should be able to wear whatever make up, or clothes they want.

Ja, der er ikke noget som at have brugt tid og dyrt udstyr på håret / make-up, hvorefter det hele bliver ødelagt af støvregn og vind 5 min. efter man går ud af døren.

As a Dane I wish i was better at the sorting of garbage... I mean, there's a container for cardboard and paper, but if it has grease on it, like a pizza box, it needs to go to "other". Glass needs to be rinsed too, so if I discover a jar of red cabbage 3 months overdue in the fridge, I need to clean that shit if I want to put it in the glass container. And now they're getting ready for 9 categories to be sorted... if only they'd stop making exceptions I'd be much more inclined to actually follow the rules. I want to do right, but if I need to jump too many hoops, not gonna happen.

I understand exactly what your saying Margaux. I moved from London to Aarhus back in the 90”s, bringing my city attitude with me. I don’t even recognize myself from my younger days anymore. I think age has a little to do with it, but Danes have a totally different way of living and enjoying life, which is very infectious😊.
And the “natural” look of Scandinavians is so much more attractive. Scandinavians are a very handsome race, with many of the women having natural beauty and not needing much makeup. You fit very well here in DK Margaux, if you don’t mind me saying😊

I ones heard some one said that the reason way theirs so many beautiful people in scandinavia is because we stole all the beautiful people in europa during the viking are._. I don't know if its true but its a fun though._. If you look past all the kidnapping and slavery that it implies._.
Regarding the natural look._. I think it comes from the fact that beauty isn't a status ting her._. We don't really worship beauty like many other countries do._.

As for the Viking thing, it’s a great thought and maybe possible😄 They did get around, those Vikings. But as far as I know, the Vikings that traveled the world, never really come back to Scandinavia. But I could be wrong.😄

Hi, im so happy you are happy in Denmark and is contributing to the system no doubt, and your positive vibes definitely do. I was twice in France and had some bad experiences with discrimination i think? First time was as a teenager on a bus from Denmark to Spain, stopping along the motorway to get food, we came of course through Germany and French and germans have their history same as we have with the germans. It was a very arrogant reception i got, with people not wanting to understand any of my gestures or words even i speak 3 languages fluently, Danish English and German, these people acted like they couldn't understand a single word or gesture of "hand" language, second time was a lot later when coming to Charles degaulle Airport and asking 2 police officers for directions, they laughed so hard at my pronunciations, not knowing that you don't pronounce the endings of the words that it left me quite stunned, so to watch your videos and learning that not all French people are racists idiots is just wonderful ❤

@@N00B283 Yeah - was just about to write the exact same thing. We're only the "happiest nation in the world" because they do those types of surveys inside. If we had to do them outside in the Danish weather we would rank pretty far down the list...

My partner was not used to it when she first came to DK, but that wasn't her biggest shock.
Her biggest surprise was, how easy is was to get rid of our used furniture just by putting it up on DBA or FB for free.
First time, she was shocked of how quickly we could get rid of my very used and ugly sofa.

Maybe you can do a video where you compare Danish "national pride" (or whatever one might call it) with French "national pride". I have the impression that both Danes and French people are proud of their country, but also that we express it in very different ways.

Funny. I’m from California, so I’m rather casual. Less casual when I travel. I love Copenhagen! So, I took my 18 year old nephews to Copenhagen. They’re from Burgundy, not Paris. They commented that the women (their age) weren’t very feminine, and if there were more lesbians in Denmark? 🤦🏾♀️ No dears, that’s just being casual and they ride their bikes more. Sweat pants are cosy. Also, they were shocked at how tall the girls were. I think French people, in general have more of a stylistic presentation that follows gender norms in terms of how the person identifies themselves. I think Copenhagen is more free, so that presentation isn’t so defined in the same way. It’s part of what I love, and why I wanted them to meet other people. I think away from Copenhagen, things may be different.

I've been to Paris a couple of times, and I remember feeling that people in the service industry - like waiters and museum staff - seemed quite aloof and a bit stuck up. (But maybe it was just because of my lack of make up 🤭) I visited Paris itself once, and then twice as a stop over only because I didn't feel particularly welcome the first time. However, you're right about everybody looking more fashionable and put together compared to Denmark.
I think you’re not the only one having that impression on waiters and staff in France 🙈😅

1. About the makeup, you are proberbly right. It stems from the jantelov, as a kid we are usualy tought to "be your self" and that extends in to evrything I guess.
2. I think your wrong about the socialminded part, we just do it different here. In Denmark when you look just a little lost people will come up to you offering guidance. On my visit to France no one offered help, but when we asked for help suddenly evryone in the shop was involved, and a nice old lady draged my then girlfriend out the store and up the street talking fast in french (wich we didnt speak) pointing evrywhere, then she gave us a hug and a smile and were gone.
It is more the approach that changes I think, but no matter where I have visited here in Europe, people have allways been werry helpfull as long as you offer a smile 🙂

This is an interesting perspective. I've always thought that most EU countries, even France, would have a more community mentality. I've met French people around the world as well and they seem to have a more caring and community outlook - but maybe it's because they've traveled the world much and that probably has changed them.
I'm an American living in Australia, and coming from a country that is very individualistic then living in a country that is more community based has also changed my mentality about society. I can understand where you are coming from.

Scandi women often look great "as is" - but they have upped their clothing a lot since the last 20 years, even if its not quite to Italian or French levels.
Hi : I agree absolutely to all of these, what You have just said. I cannot say, my life in Poland was worse, or better. It was different in many ways. I don't know if I got changed personally, living in Denmark, but my real features have simply got surfaced , I mean, Denmark allows me to be myself; to dress what I like, to look the way I like and to behave, like I always dreamed to behave. I have always said : Denmark cured me of many fears, of too nosy people, teaching me 'how to live and what to do', of the worst possible thing, as 'the race of rats in the sacks', if You know, what I mean - continual acquisition leading to greed - 'to have means more, than to be'. I hated it, but I had to be like that, otherwise I would have been an outcast. Life here gives me the feelings of stability, safety and the sense of community. Living so close to nature, gives me more respect to it. My husband was a little afraid at first, that my life in Denmark would be too much boring. No, it's not true. I love my life as it is.I think, I have never liked surprises,because 'the surprise' in Poland meant something too sudden and unpleasant to me. One more thing, just to compare : Poland is noisy and constantly in a hurry. People talk too loud, the cities are too crowded, smoggy and noisy. When we visited Warsaw years ago, after some days in there I said :- OK, we've been,we've seen and now....let's go back home.Yes, I can say : I feel home in Denmark.Home of my all dreams.

I heard that before. I never leave my house with out comping my hair or getting dressed but i dont need to be glammed up to buy bread.
When I was younger my morning routine was always doing my hair, make up and dress up until one morning i asked my self: Are you doing this for you or everyone else. So I stopped.
Since then I do it when i want too, feel like it or going somewhere special. So for me now
Yes i love this mentality! 👏😃 i think in France we definitely compare each other a lot more and i don’t think people even realize it , some kind of competition 😄 it’s very similar in Italy 🇮🇹
While there are always exceptions to the rule, a lot of danes live with the idea that while the outward appearence does matter to some extend, it's not all that matters and you shouldn't go overboard.
I think they have a similar idea for every characteristic. It fits with the 'you are not better than everybody else' idea.
French women are chic... many danish women are not , but sometimes they work and have to dress ordinary.

I've been to France a few times, and certainly in Paris, women are more dressed up than it's common here in Denmark.
There's nothing wrong with a skirt an high heels though :D
I haven't encountered the social issue, you mention. But I think you need to come closer to people, to see that point. In general I've only met kind people in France, maybe except a few waitors :D ... But again, it may also be about the way I approach other people myself. I try to always be respectful towards others.
And someone once told me that if you want to contact a French person, you shouldn't try in German language. I have no idea if that is true, and that German language would actually turn a French person away from me. But I heard so, and since then I always try to start in what limited French I know, and then turn to English .... and that approach has never failed me :)

The thing about German language may Date back to the years following World War 2, and has just kept with those of us who learned from those generations 🙂👍
I have been working in France for my former Company setting up IT equipment for our ERP solution and I will agree that I didn't like working at the main office in Paris (PS: the company is Danish so all offices in the world is Daughter companies also in France). The employees in the main office in Paris was very arrogant, even if they understood English and the same was when you went out to town, but it was another story when we went to the warehouses outside Paris. Even if they didn't understand English and was blue collar employee they where friendly and tried their best to understand and try their hardest to get to point. I have also traveled France for Camping trips and have a lot of positive stories from the country side.
I am seven months in Denmark and I noticed I ride off my bike in pedestrian areas not because of a habit, but out of respect to people that walk. By the way, no one told me to do so. I just noticed other people did, and when I understood why, I just started doing it. Also, please please make a video for things you don't like in Denmark as a foreigner. But beware! We don't want to offend our Danish friends!

One thing I loved about landing in Nice, when I had a GF there, was to see the very nicely dressed women. Skirts, heels and everything. I prefer a more relaxed look though.

Hum.. why do you come to that conclusion? It’s not like i have been to kbh and odense only ... i have been to quite a few places on Sjælland and Fyn. But yeah i haven’t been to Jutland yet. That’s what i observed so far though.
The French women I know live in jeans and converse and no makeup nut they are naturally feminine and more elegant in their demeanor which Danish women are not. I was also shocked how natural they looked on tv. As if my neighbor Jette was suddenly told to present the news.

The community oriented part. Do you think it is because you are french? Or from Paris. It seems to me that the bigger a city people are from, the more selfish they become as it is impossible to invest time in all people around you. Were on the country, communities are small and you have capacity to invest in people. I ask because i feel even the big cities of Denmark are small. I mean there live more people in Paris and its suburbs than Denmark in total 😊
I think you got a point 😊 it could be why! People in smaller towns in France are definitely more community oriented than in ie Paris but i still think that Denmark takes it to a whole other level 😊
Yes I have noticed difference. This applies to both dress and body language. I once had a female friend with an Italian background. It totally didn't matter what kind of clothes she was wearing. Her whole charisma and the way she moved and facial expressions were feminine. Danish women do not have that charisma. So I enjoy going abroad and just watching the way women go and gesturing.
And then a foreign woman could not dream of buying sandals for men either. For me, it's a no go.
Fortunately, your facial expressions and the way you speak have not become Danish. Stick to your French in that area. Your husband must love it.

After watching quite a bit of french videos, i can tell that the french can "speak" without saying a word. The facial expresions and body language of a french person is more well developed than a dane... who are more like this 😐

Here in Denmark we have a saying for fun "If you wish to silence the wordstream of a French woman, just tie her hands to her back" :-)
