I just did this on my 2019 helios 300. Before trying this my gpu would hit 80 and my cpu would hit 95 degrees after playing RDR2 for 15min. Now after repasting, playing for about 20 min, my gpu stayed in the low 70s and cpu stayed in the mid 80s. and this is without turbo mode off. With turbo mode on I get another maybe 5-7 degrees lower to each. Not bad. I Would highly recommend. Easy to do , took me about 1 hour.
I replaced mine with gelid solutions GC extreme (higher viscosity --> less running off from sides) and temperature has gone down from 85-90 to 65-70 but system temperature has gone up from 70 to 80 (in predator sense), might be due to breaking of the thermal pad, i put some cooling gel there too and temperature has returned to normal. Thanks for the video showing how to do it.
@@boomerang0101 Working fine even after 1.5 yrs. Thanks a lot! My fans were completly clogged and the factory paste and pads were quite dried up! Could manage to reduce my temperature while gaming starfield from 92°C with turbo to 82°C with normal fan speed! Holy Cow :)
In the tutorial he only uses paste. But you and a lot of people online say the laptop has thermal pads. Is it important to have these pads or does paste do the job like he shows?
Awesome video, appreciate the guide. My predator was breaking 90C playing FF14 pretty consistently and was driving me nuts trying to get the temp down. Just finished applying the new paste so going to test out now!
@bhrat choudhary did you also changed thermal pads as they were not shown in video and is very important. Also don't forget that the cpu and GPU will heat up if you play games upto80*
Instead of disconnecting the WiFi antenna, I found it easier to just take out the wireless WiFi card and move it with the wires. Those wires are a PITA to R&R.
I can promise you, the GPU memory is slowly getting fried, i have the same laptop and MX4 or any other low viscosity thermal paste is not enough for the 0.5 to 1mm gap in-between the heatsink and VRAM, i had to repaste 7 times before i perfected the VRAM thermal pad sizes. I had to use 0.5mm on all of the them except two VRAM modules, where i had to use the pink thermal goo that was applied from the factory.
Lol the reason your temperatures are lower than average at the end of the video is because you limited your disabled turbo boost for your CPU or maybe you capped it at 2.45Ghz. Dont think i didn't notice that it stayed perfectly at 2492Mhz all the time. Usually it will go up to 3.4Mhz and above and fluctuate while gaming. So you capped it. 100% without a doubt.
Yea in this case the CPU clock is lower but if u clean up your laptop remove all the dust blocking air circulation and replace the thermal compound with a high performance one the temps really do drop by 20 degrees I tried it myself the difference was huge as the old thermal paste was not that good also the dust was increasing heat due to airflow I do recommend changing the compound if anyone is not soo confident get it done by a professional and guide by JL step by step is awesome.
I'd recommend not touching the pink paste since the other videos disassembly videos don't do it. Maybe I applied too little paste on the VRAMs, but I started getting artifacts and crashes after removing the pink paste despite having low GPU temps. Added some .5mm thermal pads on the VRAMs since the pink paste is gone, and now it runs fine. CPU used to hit 80 degrees in game now it doesn't go past 70.
@@shantanuthakur6081 Not an expert, but since the pink paste holds shape pretty well and is thick; I don't think it's that much of an issue. You can probably repaste as long as there's enough paste for a proper seal between the sink and the vrams.
@@gerardbertbob Okay thank you. My CPU is reaching 92C(max possible) while playing any modern game even after I got it cleaned and repasted under warranty. Do you recommend me repasting it myself with a premium paste like kryonaut?
@@shantanuthakur6081 Up to you, man. High temps might just be caused by something simple like screws not tightened enough on the heatsink or a dirty fan.
@@shantanuthakur6081 yea use good paste but also repaste properly dont use too much use very little and remount heatsink nice and evenly also the pink paste is an alternative to thermal pads but u cant just put thermal paste on the vrms like the idiot on the video did.
I took the ram out for an install, and it corrupted my Windows. Any ideas?? I made sure the battery was unplugged, residue electricity out, etc. Thanks in advance :)
I changed the stock paste with Cooler Master Mastergel Regular, and still I'm getting 91-92° in Aida 64 stress test with 10-30% thermal throttle and in few games after 10 days of repasting. Should I actually opt for MX4? or there's something else wrong with my laptop. I am even ready to buy Grizzly Kryonaut if you say. Someone pls help.
Even the stock thermal paste is stronger than regular. regular is just for simple low budget laptops. buy a proper thermal paste like , CM maker. or Mx4 or best kryonaut.
@@rishimonmunshi7331 Yea, I do think I will go for CM maker or Kryonaut next time. For now I Undervolted my CPU with -145.5mV and underclocked my cores to 3.8ghz and my temperatures are so satisfactory with no games taking my temps above 78C with no fps dwindle.

What do you think? CM maker is not good for laptops, I got personal opinion, I will always stick to Kryonaut or Arctic.
@@rishimonmunshi7331 Well, price point Kryonaut(12.5w/m*k) is overly priced with just 1gm of 1100inr in Amazon that gives only around 4times of usage. I might go for Noctua Nt-h1/h2(3.5g-1040inr) over Arctic MX4(4g-1000inr-8.5w/m*k). Yes, Kryonaut is king right now but for just 2-3°C temp difference and for only 1gm I won't say it's a very good deal. But for super enthusiasts it won't actually matter and it all comes down to you if you prefer performance over price or price per gram and how many times a year you re-paste your cpu and if that 2-3°C actually makes a very big difference for you since it only starts thermal throttling over 86-88°C which can be easily countered with a tad cpu tweaking.
@@amartyashivam2181 Noctua has many problems, you can search the internet for that. and I have heard that Arctic MX 4 is pumped out in laptops in 2-3 months. Search for Arctic Mx 4 pumped out. As far as I have tested, Kryonaut is worth the money.
i took my laptop to a shop they put the fans incorrectly meaning left side on right reversed and roght on lft reversed , now my GPU isnt working properly and the fps i get is near 0 do you think there is a relation?
it seems you replaced pink paste with thermal paste. Did you check whether there is a gap in between the blok and vrams? How is the performance of the laptop after the repaste?
I will do this to, my predator triton 500 gpu has fine temp, but the cpu comes up to 95c when gaming. Its 5 months old. I have the same cpu paste so i am gonna do the same wish me luck 🙈 done it with older laptops and desktop.
yo half a year later but did you do it? If yes, how did it go.. did you see a temp drop? I am waiting for the mx thermal paste to arrive as well as an air compressor.. have all the other tools and I am hoping that it will make a difference.
Hi, I just applied arctic mx-4 and thermalright extreme oddesy pads for my helios 300 (9750h, rtx2060). I did few CPU & GPU stress tests and temps are hitting max about 75c with max fan speed, after about 5 mins of testing. Is this normal or should it be lower? I'm asking this because I checked the Arctic authenticity and it ahows it's fake.
The heatsink takes the big amount of heat generated and spreads it out over a large surface from where the fan will quickly dissipate it. The thermal paste ensures the heat goes from the cpu to the heatsink as fast as possible
You need thermal pads on the vrm's not paste. And you used way too much paste. If they use thermal paste that is conductive, that could end very bad. You could use thermal puddy. Paste is not designed to fill that big ID a gap.
Another question :- after applying the thermal paste ,have you applied any additional undervolting below stock undervolt of -125 mv.. and did you downclock the clockspeed from 3.9 to 2.9 GHz ?
he probbebly locked it to show better temps, i have a predator 500 triton but the cpu core clock depends on what settings you put at anyway :) low settings = more pressure for the cpu since more fps and high grapich settings put more work to the gpu, at least what i have learned. i repasted my Triton 500 many times becouse i wanted the best temps and i tried mx4 and kryonaut to see what where best, also tried liquid metal. when i repaste i slowly place the heatsink over and take all screws on, when i have all the screws on then i push the heatsink for gpu and cpu down then thighten them so the heatsink will flatten the cpu paste more even, works perfectly for me:) BUT be carefull when you try to take the heatsink up if you want to repaste, thats where the you can make a mistake like bending 1 heatsink, so slowly lift it up :)
I heard there are pump out issues with this paste on laptops. If you r still using this paste till now, can u plz tell me the temps? I also have the same laptop with high temps (94C CPU 86C GPU). But cannot decide if the risk is too high. Cause I read on forums that after few months the paste pump out and the temps are worse than the stock. Plz can u confirm if this is the case with u or are u running fine till now?
Ok Broo, I have a news. This a pink something, it's thermal liquid. There must be obligatory thermal liquid or thermal pad!! You have to change it! images92.fotosik.pl/359/8e8070cb796a0079.jpg
I need help, so my helios 300 is a year old and when i start it, it works fine for first few hours then after an hour or so, screen starts flickering, but when i use external monitor via hdmi, then the monitor does not flicker. What might be the reason here?
Why is your cpu only consuming 18~20 watts of power mine consumes around 40~45 while gaming and clocks at 4000mhz. Something is wrong. Edit: all this is when turbo boost is off.
Hello! Could you show us how to dissemble the laptop? More specifically so we could resit the keyboard/touchpad cable? A quick response will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Dude, dont apply thermal paste on RAM or VRM components, use the proper thermalpads. Paste wont give the needed pressure and heat will not be pulled away by your heatsink
@@esalasenevirathne2637 what screwdriver did you use to open the back cover of the laptop, gpu and cpu heat sync as well as the fans please thank you?🤔🤷♂️😎
Mine is shutting down. Used to get 92 to 94 cpu and 86 gpu. Turbo boost didn't even lowered a single unit. Now few days ago the laptop crashed and now every game crashes where my Temps go up to 80 to 90. Probably this fix can work. Not sure.
when you press turbo boost it also puts it on max overclock which raises temps, so i recommend putting the fans on max instead from the predator sense fan control option
Hello anthony, i have been searching about this lately, it seems that pads are a trial and error process, k5 pro is really interesting, do you think it can handle high temps since this kind of gpu is power consuming and the vrams would get really hot?

@@aneesaziz3611 in your case then it probably would be easier to just use mx4 it's just not as thick and a little more messy but shouldn't hurt anything.
That's what company usually do, and neither do I think it was a paste in the first place. There is no pink thermal paste in the market, it looked like a paste cause it was 0.5mm thick and kinda destroyed but it wasn't a thermal paste. I have seen many re-pasting videos but this guy is just dumb, who the f**k puts thermal paste on vrams.
Hey brother👋 so reading your comment i ordered (.05,1&1.5mm thermal pad) can you please tell me where i put the 1 mm thermal pad, i changed the pink stuff around the gpu with .05 mm thermal pad but i don't know where i put the 1mm thermal pad.
@@Biswas61 Actually 0.5mm is not suitable it's too thin for laptop (that's why I have mentioned it was damaged and compressed) and don't stack 0.5mm with another 0.5mm. To make it 1mm don't do that it will increase the heat their will be glue between two 0.5mm so don't stack it. 1mm and 1.5mm is the most suitable. I recently changed my thermal paste and cleaned my fans changed some of the thermal pads that was destroyed and my GPU and CPU never goes above 67 degree. Even when it's working at 100 percent. Get Cooler Master Mastergel Maker new edition it's the best thermal paste for it's price. But beware before buying from Flipkart or Amazon. They sell fake products always check sellers name before buying. Search for top sellers and check ratings.
I just bought a vacuum cooler for my helios 300 2019 , i want to put it on my cpu , can u tell which ventilation side should i go is the left or right side? thank you
Actually i plunged in and did it myself today. Its really easy. Unscrew the 11 case screws off the bottom, prise the bottom case apart from back to front using a plastic priser (start at the back exhausts). then lift off gently. The case slowly unclips back to front. The next job is to just unplug the battery (the connector is right next to it). (For safety reasons). Its important to do it one step at a time. you dont need to remove the fans unless you want to clean them. The gpu/cpu heat sink has many thermal pads and they all need replacing. clean off with alcohol and cotton buds. That is really the biggest step, they pasted them on so thick it was horrible when i took the heatsink off. Then just replace the thermal pads with your own. (leave the spacers you cant miss them). Then add two pea sized dollops of thermal compound (whichever you use) onto the gpu/cpu and then place heatsink back slowly and screw down gently and evenly. (dont overtighten). The wifi cable may or may not be taped to the cpu/gpu heatsink so watch as you remove it slowly. The 2021 version has a better heatsink and guide for the thermal pads than the previous years models. The heatsink is identical but there is a aluminium guide underneath that makes putting the pads on so much easier. It took me an hour but its more the original compound cleaning stage that was so fiddly. I got good results and I am a complete newb. The fan screws are silver, the gpu screws are black, there is one short screw for the gpu plate, you cant miss it. (this is based on the 2021 version).
@@tggorudon2551 just standard thermal pads off amazon. I think they were 1mm pads. Ive not noticed any issues since installing them. i followed the original thermal paste layout and just took my time. to be honest, cleaning the pink gunk off the heatsink and the chips was more of a hassle. Its actually pretty simple. Just dont rush it, its just a lot of pink goop to clean off. I have never done a laptop before, but knew these units were notorious for temp issues. I havent really noticed any issues after what two or three weeks since i put the pads and cpu compound on. As i said before, if your unit is new, you can leave the fans in place, they dont need to be removed to do the job. I also took the opportunity replace the 1tb hard drisk with a 1tb ssd. So far so good. If your planning on upgrading the ram or hd, then its the ideal time to do it.

I agree with this and did this also. I did not see a easy way to disconnect the Wi-Fi but it was not hard to click it out.
Really well done and thorough explanation.
So we should use thermal pads instead of paste for the vram or can we simply apply more paste over the vram ??
thanks for the video. Is it possible to use thermal pads instead of thermal paste ? And What thickness do you recommend ? Thnks.
i dont have thermal paste so i just cleaned out the fans and dident remove the colling system but this still helped
If I dont repaste the VRAM as well, will there not be gaps between heatsink and vram since the paste has dried out?
@@shantanuthakur6081 Not an expert, but since the pink paste holds shape pretty well and is thick; I don't think it's that much of an issue. You can probably repaste as long as there's enough paste for a proper seal between the sink and the vrams.
@@gerardbertbob Okay thank you. My CPU is reaching 92C(max possible) while playing any modern game even after I got it cleaned and repasted under warranty. Do you recommend me repasting it myself with a premium paste like kryonaut?

@@rishimonmunshi7331 Yea, I do think I will go for CM maker or Kryonaut next time. For now I Undervolted my CPU with -145.5mV and underclocked my cores to 3.8ghz and my temperatures are so satisfactory with no games taking my temps above 78C with no fps dwindle.

75deg C is fine. what is the thickness for the pads? 0.5mm or 1mm? Thanks

Do you think the air runs through the cooling system because of those pipes or the fans only cool the metal?

Ya but you turned off turbo boost mate
Great, it could not be more complicated 😂 Not doing it myself 😄

Its actually pretty simple. Just dont rush it, its just a lot of pink goop to clean off. I have never done a laptop before, but knew these units were notorious for temp issues.
I havent really noticed any issues after what two or three weeks since i put the pads and cpu compound on.
