    I notice the paste is only replaced on the CPU/GPU although there appear to be other components with heat sink paste on them. Just wondered why the paste wasn't replaced on the other components?

    • @koolingmonster
      @koolingmonster  8 місяців тому +5

      Hello, the reason is that other components do not generate as much heat as the CPU/GPU, so there's no need to replace the thermal grease as frequently on them. Additionally, many surrounding components actually use thermal putty or thermal pads instead. This is because: first, thermal paste is more expensive than thermal putty and thermal pads, so manufacturers opt for the latter two for cost considerations; second, most thermal greases have a high fluidity, which might cause them to flow away if the gap is too large. However, our thermal paste has been specially designed to have a suitable fluidity, so it's not a problem !

      Is It a problem if we only change the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU and leave the other components as they are? Doesn't the fact that we are disconnecting the cooling system damage the substance that is on the other components?

    This video helped me a lot I got an Acer Predator Helios 300 in 2018 from then till now I never changed the thermal paste and pads, recently my laptop was making a lot of sounds and the temp was hiking up to 97-degree Celsius, then I went through your video and opened my laptop cleaned it there was a lot of dust blocking the air vent along with entire thermal paste was dried up and CPU fan was not working, repaired all those and you know what, now my cpu temp is not crossing beyond 60 degree celsius even with full utilization of CPU and memory.

    You forgot a very important step - no paste/pads on MOSFETS, you left it uneven and missing some compound.
    The MOSFETS and chokes will overheat and kill the mainboard. When you want to do thermal rework, you need to reapply not only CPU+GPU thermal compound, you need to reapply on memories and MOSFETS too, a different compound designed specifically for that, which you failed to apply. It's usually blue or pink, as in original, but it's different viscosity and it is sold separately, it can be found on online stores.

    Question: How often does the thermal paste needs to be replaced?
    My previous laptop - HP Pavilion from 2011 - never faced overheating issue despite rigorous use for 8 years straight and never being cleaned.
    The Predator Helios on the other hand began overheating within 4 years of purchase. What I don't want to do is keep removing & applying the thermal paste every few months

    Thank you so much for this amazing video! I followed the instructions, thoroughly cleaned the dust everywhere & diligently applied thermal paste on the CPU & GPU. The decrease in CPU & GPU temperature has been nothing short of incredible - Around 30-40 °C decrease in CPU temp & 20-30 °C in GPU temp! However, in the PredatorSense software, there is a third temperature measurement, which is the System Temperature. This measures the motherboard's temperature, and it has not decreased by much. Do you have any specific tips for improving/decreasing the System Temperature? Is there anywhere else I can apply the thermal paste on?

      Hello, typically it's recommended to clean and replace the thermal paste every six months to a year. However, we don't suggest relying solely on time intervals, as it largely depends on how you use your computer and the quality of the thermal paste. A better approach is to monitor the CPU/GPU temperatures.

    What will happen of i dont replace the thermal pads surrounding tge cpu/gpu will it be ok if the pads are dried up or is replacing the gpu amd cpu the only necessary thing

    • @koolingmonster
      @koolingmonster  5 місяців тому

      Usually, the thermal pads around the CPU/GPU don't need frequent replacement. However, if they dry out, they should be replaced, as failing to do so could potentially affect the computer's performance. Manufacturers and aftermarket services typically use inexpensive thermal pads instead of thermal paste. If you want to use thermal paste to replace the existing thermal pads, make sure to use high-quality pastes. People often say that thermal paste should not replace thermal pads because the gap between the chips and the upper heatsink is too large, causing the thermal paste to flow out. Our KOLD-01 thermal paste features a special design that controls fluidity, potentially avoiding this issue if you choose to replace pads with paste.

  • @officialsylt
    @officialsylt 6 місяців тому

    When should the Thermal Paste be replaced , how often?

    • @koolingmonster
      @koolingmonster  6 місяців тому

      When you feel your computer overheating or experiencing lag, consider replacing the thermal paste to improve its performance. The frequency of replacement depends on the quality of the thermal paste. We recommend using our KOLD-01 thermal paste. Typical thermal pastes use a solvent-based formula, where the solvent can evaporate when heated, causing the paste to dry out and lose its thermal conductivity. We use an exclusive solvent-free formula, perfectly solving this problem. Therefore, using it on laptops results in better heat dissipation and longer lifespan.

    May I know what paste is that pink paste? Can I use the CPU thermal paste instead of pink paste?

    • @koolingmonster
      @koolingmonster  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi, the pink substance is thermal putty. It is very okay to replace thermal putty with thermal paste. While it is perfectly fine to keep using tthermal putties, thermal paste is better at dissipating heat. Thermal putties/pads are used in laptops because they are cheaper, and they can fill in gaps between chips and heatsink that normal watery thermal paste cannot. More premium thermal paste such as Kooling Monster's KOLD-01 has special focus on fluid mechanics, therefore is not watery like cheap thermal pastes and can substitute the thermal putties.

    What is that pink thing around cpu?

    • @koolingmonster
      @koolingmonster  3 місяці тому

      The surrounding chips are VRAM, which don't require a lot of cooling. The original factory uses thermal pads or thermal putty. As long as the original material hasn't dried out or cracked, it can still be used. If you want to replace these materials with thermal paste, we recommend using our thermal paste. The gaps in these areas are too large, and regular thermal paste on the market is too runny and may flow away. Our thermal paste has been specially optimized for flowability, so it won't have this issue [sending heart].
