These firestarters come in four different varieties and several different colors. We take a look at all of them.
The Exotac nanoSTRIKER XL is an evolution of the original nanoSTRIKER. It features a larger diameter body, striker, and rod. The 46% bigger handle makes it easier to grip, yet keeps it compact enough for key chain carry. Like the original, the XL features a ferrocerium rod and tungsten carbide striker that are stored in the 6061 aluminum body. The threaded body pieces have o-ring seals for waterproof performance. The ferrocerium rod is rated for 3,000 strikes. The nanoSTRIKER XL's great design makes it perfect for survival kits and everyday carry on a keychain.

OMG THE BLADE EDGE!!! rip knife....
What is the length of the strike area on the nanostriker XL ferro rod? That's the one measurement that I can't seem to find
Thanks for your thoughts here. It definitely adds pertinent information to the discussion.
I knew that... and then made this video just for you. :)
Benchmade Mini Griptilian. I've been super happy with it as an EDC blade.
First off wtf the knife edge, and second the firerod is my favorite
Lol your supposed to use the spine of the knife. And second when u get an instant flame like the u dont blow on it or u will blow it out just like on your first attempt.
Thank you very helpful!
I was out chopping yesterday with my Izula and I tried it on a fire steel... no dice. You definitely have to mod it to be able to use the spine.
i do alot of wilderness day hikes, even though i pack lighters and matches i use a fero rod all the time just cuz its cooler. those are def pricey but seem to have multi use with the hollow handle(strike anywhere matches) just might pick one up.
What one fits the best in the leatherman sheaths?
geting both
Sure... I get that. On my Benchmade I should have demonstrated that with the spine of the blade in this video. However, on an ESEE 4, the powder coating prohibits you from striking on the spine (unless you mod it). I've seen multiple people use the sharp side of the blade as a striker. Obviously, they don't run the striker down the whole blade, but if you use one spot, it works really well.
Which benchmade knife is that?
where are these made?
Who is that at the beginning of the video showing the use of this product? They are rolling the edge and damaging their blade using the striker like that.
what is the diameter of the handle of the firerod
as a foot note..the ferro rods on the 6160's are also replaceable..which should tell a long tale of the quality of the handles. Also, they can be bought in Titanium if you want to spend the extra dough.
now that is what I call customer service ;)
6:30 is a knife rape
hmm, I wonder if it's specific to that coating because I've seen people demonstrate that using the spine of a coated blade works about as easy as non-coated blades (and thus proving there's no need to use the sharp edge and chance ruining it). Either way I still appreciate the demo :)
1-You damaged your knife edge by using it as striker. 2- the flame in the dry grass doesn't need blowing 😂
Does anyone here know what they are doing here?
Using the edge of your knife..
Use the back of your knive guy
Ii want to be there for a shadow job :/
good way to dull your blade using it that way..
ya these are real survival guys. Some guys sitting in an office and hoping in their car to go make a video. Same with the guy from the other video comparing all the nano strikers; Was going to order a knife..... On second thought......
No!!! Not the edge of the knife :O:O:O
ack, yea you really are better off using the spine of the blade rather than the edge but as others have mentioned it is your knife...ruin it if you like, lol
the US of A :)
i miss ben =/
His name is Tyler. The man eats, drinks and sleeps knives... and he uses them the way he likes.
Good way to FUBAR a knife edge! Great product, decent price, bad use of a knife!
Stop moving around, hold the product still!,
nano striker is a joke , the stiker too smal to be use , yes they look nice , but please you dont need it , get a rod and use the back of your knife to strike not the blade ... the fire rod could be an option the rod is biger but the storage is a joke = to small and too expensive for nothing.
Uses the blade on a Benchmade to strike with, video off.
Seeing the front of the knife used on the ferro rod is utterly cringe-worthy. Use the spine of the knife, and if there isn't a 90 angle on the spine, file one on yourself or use something else. This guy just murdered the edge of the blade in a spot that should be reserved for fine carving tasks.
