    Mo. Speaking of date codes. This past week i bought an 04 gl1800 in dayton ohio and rode it back to north detroit michigan in rain most of the way 54 degrees and wind. Made it home and looked at the date code October 05 and bad cupping. I ordered new Bridgestone's. I enjoy your vids.

      Yeah sounds like you were lucky. Glad you checked and are replacing it. I try not to ride on tires more then 5 yrs old. I also seen an old dry rotted tire come apart as it was being rode. Sounds like a nice bike. 👌

    I removed my rear tire to replace the brake rotor. Simple trick I did was to put the bike up on the center stand. Then rock the bike away from you enough to slip a piece of 2X4 under the stand foot. Go to the other side and do the same. Now the bike is high enough to get the wheel out. I did the removal of the rear panel and pulled the hitch carrier out too. My new use bike has 77k miles and was in need of a good cleaning as well as the mechanical work. New rotor and pads. Flush the brakes and clutch. Oil and filter. Next is the drive assy oil.
    Go Mo. Enjoying your vids.

    Mission accomplished nice job, a week to change a tyre wow.. here in uk a dealer will change tyre within an hour especially if you’ve got wheel off and take it there, iv just changed my shaft drive oil, once refilled be careful tightening up filler bolt i sheared mine off, luckily local dealer had replacement. Ride safe out there 🇬🇧👍

    I may get that just for the bead breaker. The bead breaker alone is $20 more at HF. HF has discontinued the motorcycle tire mount addition. Looks like zip ties and a couple tire irons would do the trick, while repurposing some plastic laundry soap jugs to protect the rims.

    • @mosmotorcyclejourney9067
      @mosmotorcyclejourney9067  3 роки тому

      Yes sir Tom. It's worth it just for the bead breaker. Thanks for the comment and for watching

    I always cut the tire in half at point where the tire meets the road-comes off much easier for me.

    @7:20, yes, the bike tire does flatten out after all due to mileage, but the darkside gives u 2 or 3x more mileage on it, for a few bucks more, thats teh diff MO! Good video, but smarten up bro

      I checked with my insurance company and they said if I dump it my claim could be denied because I don't have a proper tire on the cycle. So what's smarter. Putting on a car tire and not being covered. Or keeping my coverage with the proper tire.

      @@mosmotorcyclejourney9067 I enjoy your vids but you should check into switching insurance companies cause i've asked mine and as long as the tire is D.O.T. approved they don't care. I totaled my 2018 DCT goldwing and they paid handsomely, I didn't "wreck" the bike, I ran over a piece of road debri that broke my crossmember and since it is a one piece aluminum frame it could not be repaired so it was totaled.

      @@mikehernandez1511 I did switch insurance companies and I have spoke to them about a car tire on a cycle. They said they same. As long as it's DOT approved. So when u change my rear I will go darkside. I would like more then 2 seasons out of my tire. Thanks for the comment 👍

      @@mosmotorcyclejourney9067 Was having the same problem here in Albuquerque last year covid, called Honda dealer said they where booked for about 2 weeks and wanted like 65 per wheel to R&R the tires so then I thought about the harbor freight tools but at the last minute I called another bike dealer owned by the same company they could do it right away and wanted I think it was like 30 per tire might of been a few dollars less but would have to leave wheels there for 2 to 4 hrs was fine with that had to take one at a time. I did not have them balance them I have centramatic wheel balancers so they are constantly balanced as the tires wear. I noticed they have gone up in price. Nice Ride Mo, I have a 2001 with just over 60,000 miles on it Apollo Pearl Blue have had it for 2 yrs and only have put like 200-300 miles on it. I also am in the process of painting the dash meter panel tried it and for some reason the clear turned white hazy looking was told humidity did it so am trying again have to go sand it after I get done. Have you done your air filter yet? not as bad of job as some people think dealer want's like 500 to do it. took me about 2-3 hrs to do and never done it before. enjoy your channel, stay safe.

      @@robshummerh3 no Wayne I have not done my filter yet but I'm gonna order one next week and gonna try it myself. I'm glad you told be about your wheel balancers because I am interested in those however just want an hones opinion from someone that has them. I see you haven't done alot of miles yet but are they like they say? You feel nothing from your tires say at like 25mph? Nice and smooth? I'm gonna get some. Also the clear does sound like it was the humidity. I got lucky with mine but I did bring it in the house to paint it because I live in Michigan and it was only 40 degrees outside when I wanted to paint it. Other then the air filter I think she should be fine for a while. Thank Wayne for your comment and for watching.

      @@mosmotorcyclejourney9067 I have had mine up to 65 and also the lower speeds and nothing smooth as can be. I put Bridgestone's on mine when I did the tires. purchased mine from Wingstuff.com I paid like 230.00 I think they are like 270.00 now that is the 2 for the front wheel and one on the back. the filter job when I did it I was little scared to do it you have to remove a lot to get to it. when you remove the screws under the trim mark each location they are different. but it is not that bad. saved myself like 500 to have it at the dealer. purchased the OEM filter off ebay for 35.00 think it was shipped. mine is a 2001 and 01-05 are the same 06 up they changed a little harder but close and the 18 and up are a job from what I have read. Have a good day! Stay safe.

      Have done 3 sets of GW1800 tires. It is a major workout if you don't have good technique.
      First, get some soap to lubricate the bead.
      After you break the bead on both sides, you will need about 8 wooden blocks about 1/2 inch thick. Use this to push and hold the tire bead into the rim drop center. Use your irons to lift the bead over the rim. Don't try to stretch it. You can't.

    • @mosmotorcyclejourney9067
      @mosmotorcyclejourney9067  3 роки тому

      You sound experienced. Yes soap does help out alot. That was my first tire change . The front one I used the zip tie method and it worked alot better then this job. I did shoot a video on it. Thanks for watching and the comment 👍 be safe out there

      Your not kidding there. I will do all my tires from here out. The balance worked perfectly and I have no vibration in it at all. I will invest in the centramatic balancers over the next winter. So won't have balance again. Thank you and be safe.
