Genuinely love how you treat others’ homes with respect and speak to the people with dignity. I know not everyone you meet has the best intentions, but you do an amazing job of navigating social situations amongst various cultures and remaining respectful.
One thing that always strikes me about the countries you travel to is the children. Always smiling, always happy. I guess they know no different. Thanks again.
People smile when a rich foreigner points a camera at them. It's not about being happy, it's about being polite and maybe getting them to give you some money. What would scowling and frowning get you in this situation? People smile for many reasons. Don't automatically assume it's because they're happy.
You know I've spent time in 3rd world countries and noticed not only are the children happy but the whole society is happy. Smiling etc. I was a missionary and loved to watch the people on the streets while we ride a van around different citys they had very little but seemed really happy to me.
Well people of Madagascar are also longing for developement but the country is unfortunatetely ruled by an incompetent dictator ' andry rajoelina' who is just busy at chasing his opponents and put them in prison instead of developing the country.. People in the uk really take things for granted, bad living conditions here is super luxury compared to bad conditions in Madagascar, I’d say around 70-75% of the world lives in this state of poverty and around 80% of the 30% living comfortably have no idea what the rest of the world is truly like. Your work is amazing keep up the good work nick and stay safe please
You're right in some way but it's alwys relative. In many European countries you're considered to be poor when you have less than 1000€ a month but this is because we have a much higher living standard and are much richer countries with supposedly functioning democracies and social security systems. The stress is the same. When you can't pay the rent or feed your kids in a first world country it's a shame. Also the social predicament...
you have no clue do you? white people are capable of building great societies, so when the powers at be take it upon themselves to destroy what we have for people such as you see in the video that have no concept of civilisation or morality it makes people mad. the places that live in this poverty aren't failing.. this is the highest they can achieve. so thats why we seperate and maybe the UK can become a better and more homogenous place.
From ‘luxury mansion vibes’ to ‘sewage flood chic’ in 10 meters. Madagascar’s rich vs poor is literally a step across the street. Well done on 2mill bud
Strangely , Pittsburgh here can be the same way. Certain groups want to be near the wealthy, move in next door, downgrade the neighborhood, and there you go.
And the bad thing is these type living arrangements aren't getting any smaller globally speaking. What's stoping these people from striking out for better place to live. That's what i would do leave and find a better place to live somehow someway i would get out of that situation by go somewhere else.
yeah, it probably wasnt the best idea for the French to leave the country. I bet people would move in a heartbeat to the island right next to them-Reunion, which is still fully governored by the French.

Your videos have given me a perspective I deeply needed, and they’ve made me more grateful for the life I live. Please never stop doing what you do. Lifetime subscriber now.
It’s always so humbling to see people who have the least are almost always the most giving and caring. It makes me have faith in humanity when it’s getting harder to keep that faith.
Sadly you normally don't get rich by being nice. The system favors the ones who aren't afraid to go over bodies to get what they want. It's really fucked
Sad but excellent video. Thank you. I visited Madagascar once via small, expedition cruise ship, but it was small places in the north, Nosy Be and Nosy Komba. Both places were best remembered for their wildlife, especially the lemurs, as well as local handicrafts. Very, very different from big city depicted here.
I'm just finishing a 6 week trip here in Madagascar. There are many places like that in Madagascar (Diego Suarez, Majunga, Tamatave, Sambava) I seriously doubt you will see them on this channel, not enough misery & poverty to show.
Felt like the train driver was almost watching you presenting to the camera, lol. I imagined him eyeing you with binoculars with one hand with the other on the horn - waiting for you to open your mouth to say something. Obviously not the case, but made for a hilarious mental picture.

This is so tragic for the people. Madagascar is so rich in natural resources such as cobalt and the government is allowing this companies to get extremely rich. But do not give back to the people that live there. It's heartbreaking to see conditions the people live in while the fat cats live in luxury homes right along side. There's no humanity, I will never understand how such greed goes unpunished. Hopefully there will be changes, for the wonderful people you have meet. ❤
Thank you for the opportunity to see another place that many of us will probably never get to. Seeing the world and the way other people live is so important for compassion, understanding and empathy. Your videos help this happen.
Thank you for representing my country. I'm glad to see one of my favorite youtubers here, thank you for presenting some of our poor living conditions and how sometimes we can be left out.
I am in Madagascar now; I have never seen so many children under the age of 8 begging for money on the road. I did not realize how poor the country is when I decided to visit. It is a great contrast when you see a fancy restaurant with foreigners going in to eat while children are begging outside. The Western world, India, and China benefit from this situation. Taking advantage of the poor while going on vacation benefits the rich in that country, helping them to become wealthier. Poverty, in your view, vacation is really eye-opening.
@@Lukexplorewell, they’re probably paid next to nothing. And now they can’t even use public restrooms without having to pay silly amounts. I’m sure there are tons of other examples. If you can just walk past children starving and it not make you wonder if there is something more that could be done, then that’s sad. 😢

I hope the government builds affordable housing right where they live. If they are already there, that is their homeland. With proper sewer and running water. It's the least they can do. The other problems are everywhere anyway.
Great work, Nick! Always humbling seeing the lives of others making do with what little they have. Being blessed to be born in USA wasn't my decision, and even for me life can be hard sometimes, hard to stay positive. But your videos are a reminder to be grateful above all else. Thanks

Too kind, thank you!
