This is exactly like that in Longueuil, Canada. Each morning I start my 40 years old Massey Fergusson tractor and travel 40km in deep mud to reach Montreal metro station.
Thank you for this report!!! Heart-breaking and awareness raising seen from Madagascar. Need this kind of documentary to be aware of the heavenly hell we are in😥. Actions initiated almost everywhere but leads nowhere.
I like your documentary about worst road and other topic. Excellent script .., in these documentary I learn struggle of human for support their family...
Thank you for highlighting this most unfortunate country. It is sad what corruption can do to an entire country that would otherwise be prosperous and highly developed. Shame on your government.
Way back in the day i was playing hand drums in a park and a fight broke out some way away so i walked up and played to the tempo of battle. These people know whats up.
Quelle merveilleuse emission.
hey guys in those rough spots take a tractor engine or even the pto and run a cable winch that spools on the other end and just loop everybody on and charge them a bit to traverse one side goes one way the other goes the other and voila collect and socialize while the vehicles just stroll by
Those are truly hellish conditions. For an American it is almost beyond my ability to understand. Are there no rocks in that country? It would seem that if every person, on every run, would bring all of the rocks that the could haul and toss them on the first impassable spot, eventually they would have a rock base to cross instead of just mud
@DigitalConfusion1 It worked on my place. Took awhile, but simply taking rocks from where they were to where they were needed helped. A lot. And, let's say that they only improved the situation, that's better. Let's say it only helps for a mile a year. The government of the region has done nothing for decades. If those people took rocks, wood shavings, Anything that would improve traction from areas where it wasn't serving any purpose to improve even one kilometer... People working together can achieve wonders. The government obviously isn't going to fix the problem. So, why not at least try for a solution that the people themselves can affect?

I enjoyed watching this documentary and the hard-working peoples of Madagascar. As for Olivier, he needs to learn how to be more respectful when speaking with his workers.
Great work but i would recommend you keep the camera rolling all the way and cover entire process,it shouldnt be off the camera while you have the camera man doing filming and recording
7:15 that's not the chain coming off... After the chain gets to the back of the tire, you have to reattach it to the front to gain the circumference of the tire again. If you don't let it go around until it comes loose you can't get them off to shorten the chain.
seems like they should install some permanent infrastructure along the route. solid post and pulley network along the obstacles? hard ball or something with drainage along the rest to avoid mud pits. doesnt seem like they invest in time into road maintenance.
9:02; What a "wonderful" hotel. I would "love" to stay there. 😀 What unresponsive government didn't fix that muddy road, at least at its minimum level. It just needs to be made water channel to channel the water and make small culvert to channel the water to other side of the road. The better the road, the better the economy will be. Transportation cost will be significantly reduced.
The thing is they arnt roads they are tracks in the countryside it just amazed me how they carry on like it's normal but what else can they do.Putting those chains on the tyres to get out the hole is ruddy dangerous.Life seems so tuff for these people
they need tracked vehicles to do this . Maybe a combo where the tracked vehicle is hauled on a trailer and unloaded when needed as a tracked vehicle is not good for long distant regular roads . But what they really need is Rock , lots of blasted rock for solid road bases.
Why they call this a road? There's no road here but a canyon. You can see how black governments in Africa incompetent. All of them even the ANC black government in South Africa is a shame
No shit. Absolutely incompetent special ed government. Even if they don't care about the people they're only digging their own graves as roads become impossible. They need colonization. Clearly they can't do shit themselves
That system to pull out a stuck tractor was NOT invented by the Malagasy... it was used ages in other countries WELL before they even had tractors in Madagascar.
So that clapped out tractor was 10 000€ and the guy makes 60€ per month, has to pay 18€ per month his assistants, how the heck is he expecting to pay the tractor back? Even if he could pay 60€ per month, it would still take about 14 years to pay it back...

A lot has to do with the insane amount of deforestation that has happened there. That has really multiplied their struggles.

Imagine all the efforts one should suffer for the bad roads!
A front mount winch would be much better for recovery
My journeys in the UK begin with starting the Cat D4 to level a way over the potholes in the road to get to the Post Office for my Giro.
