I read about them last year. I really like the idea of the house lifting itself off the trailer and leveling itself. That alone is thousands of dollars saved by not having to rent a crane to hoist the house off the trailer. Great job introducing Ten-Fold to us.
Excellent point. However, Tenfold shouldn't completely rule out the need for a crane if/when a buyer needs to place a unit in a tight location, or wants to put units in a location where terrain makes trailering to the foundation, impossible.
Kerry, You get me hyped on so many options. I have been watching for a year or two and you still keep surprising me. Thanks for that and thanks for the humor
Very good information! I have been keeping an eye on this company for over 4 years because of Amazon listings that I did not believe. If you look at their foreign website you'll see livable floorplans offered there. I can't wait to see one of these in a tropical storm to see if I'd be comfortable with living in it through a storm. I also can't wait to see what their hurricane rating will be, given the fellow Floridians anchor it to exceeded the current standards. This, of course, only time will tell. All that to say I'm super excited about this option because I think it will be most conducive for disabled living!!! ❤️ Thanks Kerry!!!
Anchoring it to the ground is of course a good idea but then what do you do when the storm surge comes in and it starts to fill up with water ? Maybe they could make those little legs that extend to lower it, raise it up about 20 ft also.
There is a place here in Australia where they produce folding homes like these! The place is called "van homes". They are treated as caravans as far as the rules go (council and roads). Excellent prices (2-4 bedrooms) all one type of model (to keep costs down I expect).
Interesting, how long have they been in business? I never heard of them & will have to look them up. UPDATE: Took a quick look & they don't look too bad. They're about $200/sqft. Thye actually look "similar" in build/build quality to the mobile homes we see in "trailer parks" here in the US. Looks like they would maybe be okay in areas that don't get too much rough weather, however, I don't see them getting approved in areas prone to high winds, hurricanes or areas that get a lot of snow(?)
Every time you come out with a video I like it better than the one before ! This expandable house looks very promising. I hope you're able to do more of these in the future. Folding them up in severe weather sounds like a good idea but what do you do with all your furniture inside ?
Hey, Kerry. Incredible Tiny Homes is now making 8'x20' tiny homes for $25k. They're really popular with the off-grid upgrades. I'm considering buying one myself. Would make a great video if you wanted to give your thoughts. Would be a great tour if you're in TN sometime. Thanks
@@KerryTarnow I very much appreciate that. Have you covered the new 20' model? They normal one is 16'. More so interested in your thoughts about the off-grid system if that's something you're into covering. Thanks
ITH is a great company. Only thing that gives me pause is the added expense of towing one to the central Midwest. Maybe if somebody started a franchise, perhaps?? hint-hint
It will be interesting to see what their end product will be, though it would be nice if they stepped up and decided to handle the permitting if you decided to purchase a unit.
I've been following them for years with the hope they put something in production but I kinda wrote them off since I haven't seen any movement from them. Their concepts (especially their early ones) are mindblowing which hyped up the company. I'm also not confident about their 50k sqft manufacturing space. Seems small for any real output numbers. We'll see how they progress but if their history is any indication, I won't be holding my breath.
It's great to live in a country where people invest in new manufacturing industries My design can create twice as much room for change as this, but there is no opportunity for development. In my country, people only focus on speculating on existing real estate and stocks.
The local municipal entities suck at times with prefab housing usually making you have to go into a restrictive trailer park thats a big downside..but really dif this thank you
Post from Canada: Interesting!!! just wanted to know what kind of temperatures can it take? What would be the insulation in that? Can it be ordered in Canada?
They seriously need to develop a 100 sq ft version, not just for homeless folks, but non-materialistic people who want the bare basics of living on land they also own and pay taxes on.
100sqft versions, utilizing this technology, doesn't make much sense. Especially when so many other options already exist & are orders of magnitude less expensive. New/used mini RVs make 100x more sense as homeless shelters.
Could be one of the solutions to reduce the housingproblem all around the globe and at areas where houses are destroyed by eartquakes and wars. In Turkey,Syria and many other countries people would be helped. Homes can be transported to other areas after new houses are build and that makes it a flexible temporarily solution. The housing looks great to me.
A mobile home is a very cool idea! I think that there will be many who want to change the RV for such houses. By the way, such houses can create a new kind of huge business with a turnover of more than 1 billion dollars a year! Something like car camping sites, but especially for owners of folding houses. It is possible to equip and lease prepared plots of land: electricity, gas, water supply and sewerage. Only standardization of connection of communications will be necessary. Many landowners have vast tracts of land around the planet idle idle. Or you can go even further: develop and rent standardized floating islands with a full range of life support systems for such houses! And place them off the coast of popular places on the planet. No hotels, hostels, arnbi and bookings are needed. Folding container houses can carry specialized container carriers around the planet. The entire planet Earth can become temporary sites for living: every six months, move to another site on the planet. He folded the house and moved. )) What could be even simpler and more convenient?
This is a really great idea. I have questions about where the kitchen and bathroom will be located and how finished the inside is. Still it's a good looking home 🏡 🌈❤

Kerry, I’ve been keenly following from Canada. Are there any real Boxabl-type options for northern climates (down to -30 degrees at times in winter)? Several companies indicate they can customize to meet local codes but I suspect insulating to that extent might not be feasible...? Curious to know what this Vermont company can do to address this.
That’s cool..but you’re still gonna need a crane to get that into someone’s back yard…and most people don’t have a yard large enough for that, nor access to drive a semi truck through the yard. I agree that most will be semi permanent and likely as second homes and people looking for a tiny house that’s actually livable.

You have to ask yourself why it is that these innovative, origami style modulars hit a roadblock from concept to full scale production. One part of the answer is that the concept itself is more exciting than it is viable; and the generated hype gains more momentum than an actual working production line. BOXABL comes to mind, as it threatens to be the Theranos of the offsite modular industry. No one takes into account the enormously complex manufacturing and production challenges that making these foldable homes represent. No less than 2, fully automated, 200K Sq. Ft. + at a minimum production facilities would be required to crank out 10 Casitas a week to be delivered. That’s only 520 a year out of a 70k waiting list.
