I love the idea of a library haul so much more than a bought book haul! I don't like to watch those since I feel like over-consumption is SO real on booktube, so I'd love to see library hauls become more common!
It has been a thing for a while, it's just that the videos that incorporate them usually don't get as much recognition as the ones that do book hauls featuring bought books.
@@leoraaileen Oh I love book shopping too! But I mostly like to get the sequels of first books that I've read and liked, or else get books that I loved and want to keep on my shelves. I try to read most of my books for the first time from my library and buy them afterwards if they were 5 stars! I just feel like the hauls where it's 30+ books, none of which they've read yet, then a big unhaul of half of those books six months later feels like a waste when they could've rented the book first!
If we only have a library I could this, I'd really be happy and my bank would also be happy. I know my college made me happy not for academic reasons but I've already graduated so long ago and locally, we don't have an updated library. Just really sad 😔
Library Haul= Instant Subscribe!!!! I use my library more than anything. I really don't buy books unless I get them from the dollar tree, or trade in books at little free libraries! Love your channel! ❤
buying books is actually so much harder for me, so I frequently go on library trips, at least 2 times a week to my closest branch. I can't pass a library anywhere else in the city without going in 😆 I loooove library hauls because I can go absolutely nuts and if I DNF -- which I'm starting to do more frequently -- the consequences are so low! Wilder Girls was a miss for me, but I hope you like it! it's very atmospheric and perfect for this time of year. and that cover is to die for!!
So right! It’s feels like so much lesser of a commitment than buying a book haha, and I’m very with you on the dnf’s! I hope I like wilder girls too, we’ll see! 📚🙏
I love using my library for physical and ebooks!! I've saved so much money by borrowing books from there instead. It's a great alternative when you're not 100% sure if you'll enjoy the story and don't want to commit to buying a copy. Such a great haul 😍
I love going to the library too! I have been going to libraries since I was a child, because my parents are avide library users. We usually go to the one in the closest city, they have a great English section, but we also go to one closer, which has a really nice biulding. And I also go to my college library, but usually more for linguistic research purposes. I think the concept of libraries is great for the enviroment and the social aspect.
Ah! My mum took me and my little sister to a library in a bigger village too because we didn’t have one- later on when I was a teen we got one in our town, but it was just one room with a few shelves and we had to ‘order’ any YA or middle grade books in, which could take months 😩 I remember reading series in the wrong order because they came in that way and I did not have the patience to wait for the first book to come in. 😭😂 But yes, libraries are such wonderful and important places. Thanks for watching 💗
I love the library and I use it all the time! I hope library hauls become more common on booktube they are so lovely to watch! there's something about the library that is so fun; you never know what you might find or what might catch your eye and since there are no consequences you can pick up anything without feeling bad if you DNF or don't start it--it really lends itself to possibility!
Tales of the Peculiar is actually part of the Miss Peregrine's series! Make sure you look at the copyright pages in the front, there's the real one and then there's one "in-universe" because the book is written by one of the characters from Miss Peregrines! It's so funny and such a good touch to bring you back into the Miss Peregrine's universe.
That's nice, I think it's such a good way to promote libraries (I love owning books but budget wise the library is better for me and it's also a great service!). Your library is beautiful, by the way.
I use my local library all the time, and I always enjoy my visits! My area has a lot of nice branches, I even got to go to the one with two floors in the city today, which was wonderful!
i go to the library a lot for the books i read. i live in new york city and dont have a ton of space for books and it's so low-stakes. i took out 8 books the other day (including wilder girls!)
Loved this video, your intro was beautiful and I honestly love the idea of a library hall. I wish I lived closer to my local library but it may well be worth a trip sometime soon! Thanks so much for the inspiration.
I love going to the library, it’s so cool to be lost among books and know multiple people and read and loved them! Really liked this video of a library haul :)
I've only bought a few books that I would want to keep as like references for things/take notes in or take notes of, that I can't find in any of my libraries near me, or is like a childhood fave (really I only bought a series of unfortunate events and Im thinking of getting another childhood series I liked haha) I'm constantly going to the libraries or using libby. Getting a library card has saved me so much money and has gotten me to read a lot more. Very grateful for libraries
Tales of the peculiar is actually connected to the miss peregrine's series! It's been a while since I read both but I think in miss peregrine's they had a book of fairytales with them, which is supposed to be the Tales of the Peculair book I think :)
Hi, new subscriber here! Love the idea of libraries and I wish I could do the same, but honestly, there are no libraries near me. I live in Puerto Rico and sadly there’s no “library culture”, so we have to buy books. I would love to see more library hauls like this one. Hugs 🥰
the cycle strategy is a game-changer!! i read it last summer and i had so many "ahaa!" moments about my mood swings and such, it's a very comforting and educational read. there's also a lot of general statistics and feminist data peppered in there about, for example, period poverty, so i think you're going to enjoy it for sure c: i still find myself going back to it on occasion, when i don't understand or remember something, i just take it off the shelf and find the answer to my problem. so yeah, highly recommend the cycle strategy!
Aaahhh I love Brian Selznick so much I first read The Invention of Hugo Cabret in third grade I think and I’ve loved everything I’ve read by him ever since
Aaahhh I love Brian Selznick so much I first read The Invention of Hugo Cabret in third grade I think and then Wonderstruck in a day in fourth grade (I think). I’ve loved everything I’ve read by him ever since
I wish we had libraries like that here but sadly we don't, the ones here have only children's books and academic books, I would definitely borrow more if we had better collections since books are quite expensive too 😅🙊
awww no! that's really sad. Where I grew up we had a really small, shitty library too (although the people were lovely). My mum used to drive me and my sister all the way to the bigger library in another village every weekend, it was my favorite thing!
I love the idea of the library, but unfortunately the one in my small city does not have a lot of books, so I can never find what I want :( And also, I like having the book to be able to tab it / underline it but I really like the library for graphic novels / manga ! those are so expensive that I never buy them, I only take them from the library if I want to read them
I get most of my graphic novels from scribd or the library too for the same reasons!! but yeah, I feel you with the underlining- it's a nice feeling to be able to do whatever you want with your read!
sometimes I'm really scared to borrow books as I'm anxious that if I like it too much I still have to return it HAHA and buying a copy after you've read it feels different :(
Ah yes ! I love Name of the Wind and I hope you enjoy it too ... although be careful because that last book hasn't been released in eons ! If you are looking into it for comedy, then you won't find it. And yep - not a lot of women, but I think we do have to acknowledge the context it was written and the fact that fantasy has only become exposed to female heroines (on a large scale) very recently... and are still struggling to enter the Adult Fantasy genre. Also. thank you so much for doing a library haul! I think booktube is really saturated and promotes those who have the money to make 50+ book hauls. So thank you :)
Does the period book only use 'menstruating people' and 'women' as synonyms? Because not every woman menstruates nor every menstruating person is a woman, and there's a lot of books about the periods out there that just chooses to ignore that.
No! It’s actually very inclusive and talks at length in the foreword and in the book about how menstruating is not exclusive to women, and how language is important when discussing these things.

same! libraries are great
I use the library all the time. I may read a book there and then go buy it if I really love it. Also use them for my audio book listening.
yesss it can be so great for that too
