That was incredible, man! Amazing job. Being stuck a beginner, I never even dared to put myself anywhere near this song. But do you have any kind of written lesson - like stick pattern for fills, easy versions of the beat, or anything to tackle the first 5% of that song - that you could share?
Hey I appreciate it!! I didn’t have anything written beforehand as a lesson for this but I could write out a few things here! I’m not playing this accurately. I definitely played an easier version of the intro section; there are other great playthroughs where people are playing it correctly. But if you want to play it like I do, here is some explanation behind what I’m doing: The first section of the fill before the crashes is all single stroke rolls. I do some rack tom hits right after hitting the snare. S=Snare. T=Tom. SSSTSSST. The second section before the next crashes is single stroke rolls combined with double kick hits with two feet. K= Kick. -=rest SSS-KKSSSSKKSSSSKKSSSSS-SS After the second crash hit I include another snare hit in between if you listen very closely The third section before the next crashes is all single stroke rolls combined with double kick hits with two feet. It’s just that one hand is on the snare and one is on the Tom. The fill ends with me doing single stroke rolls down the kit The fourth section starts with me doing ghost notes on the snare in between all the crash hits. Then it goes to doing all single strokes before combining with the double kick. Twice, on the fourth sixteenth note of doing all those single stroke rolls I hit the hi hat and kick. In the record Thomas Pridgen clutches the hi hat with his feet to close it but I wasn’t fast enough to do that haha. I hope this helps! Haha sorry if the way it was written is confusing
@@JeffreyAdamiDrums What a happy surprise to be given such a detailed answer! Thank you a ton :D I will write this down now and see what I can make out of it, it will be some days until I am behind a kit again. Thank you again!!
DUDE! This is INCREDIBLE! I haven't seen you go this hard on the drums in a while, absolutely insane drumming, probably one of my favorite covers that you've done.
Hey! So sorry, I just saw this now. Unfortunately I’ve moved and have a different setup, but here’s how it was for when I had the setup like this. So based off the camera angle it’s hard to see, but I’ve got a kick, snare, and two overheads going into a Scarlett 6i6- and that goes into my laptop and I’m running Pro Tools. Kick- Beta 52 Snare- SM 57 Overheads- 2 AT 4041’s
