This is the great music I grew up with! We took it for granted because most of the 70s music was awesome. It just was. You should definitely see the live version!
I knew the lead singer, Pete Beckett before he located to the US. He, like me, was from Liverpool and we shared the magical times at the Cavern and other venues in the mid sixties....fabulous memories
Since you liked this song, you have to hear AMBROSIA!! “How much I feel “ “ You’re the biggest part of me” “You’re the only woman” “Holding on” They’re 🔥🔥🔥
One of the best Blue-eyed Soul song and bands EVER!!! Just Perfection!!! A lot of babies were made from this song.....lol......A LOT!!! This band and this song is the epitome of the Blue-eyed Soul genre of music in any era....another band and song recently express this Blue-eyed Soul genre and it's call "Heat Waves" by Glass Animals released in 2020 and stay in the top 5 on the Billboard chart for almost 2 years.....their second hit came out last year and it sounded nothing like Blue-eyed Soul.which I wished the band would have stuck with that sound, "Baby Come Back" is a masterpiece.
Player did have a follow up single on this debut album called "This Time I'm in for Love" which peaked at #10 on the Billboards charts staying there for a total of 17 weeks. Debatable yes but the single " Baby Come Back" is possibly the only song really worth showcasing from their limited catalog of music. Player was named Billboard’s Best New Singles Artist of 1978. However, the fame they gained from their first single and debut album never really carried over to any major hits thereafter. Anyone who saw this group perform live can attest to how great they sound together singing. Perfection, Something you don't see very often today with all the auto tune created bands which exist today.
I met them at a department store when I was 13 in Kansas City where I grew up as they were in town for a concert and signing autographs. This song had just come out.
*BRO! I hope you will explore Pentatonix. You love great vocals, and they are incredible a capella voices, and make all the instrument sounds with their bodies, including beat box. PLEASE check them out! Start with "Hallelujah," but they have a ton of great songs, including "Mary Did You Know?" and a "Sounds of Silence" cover*
Glad you liked this one! I’m going to throw another one at you……. Strawberry Letter 23. Brothers Johnson version though. It s funkier than the original.
To me this is the aural equivalent of a mogadon sandwich. Serious snooze fest. Sorry, the sort of corporate MOR tosh that never took off in the UK. My contempt for this is beyond words. 😂 Sorry.
@ It’s only taste. I worked in a secondhand record shop between 1980 and 1990. I heard loads of stuff like this from American AOR; Chicago (later stuff), REO Speedwagon, Journey, Toto, Styx etc. just not my sort of thing. I am happy for others to enjoy it, I just don’t get anything from it. Soft rock? You’re allowed to though. 😃👍
This was perfection❤️👏🏽
Player, Ambrosia, Toto all great 70s bands. We didn't use all the genres to describe bands back then so we just said this was soft rock.
I don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy this song. such a Groove, it's on my playlist
Loved ridge on bold and beautiful. Never knew he was in this group at the time.
This is literally the greatest song in the history of the universe times ten squared plus one.
This is the great music I grew up with! We took it for granted because most of the 70s music was awesome. It just was. You should definitely see the live version!
Before I even listen...I think you're going to love this one...brings back memories! ( the live version is FIRE! )
And you were 1000% right
Yes, Blue Eyed Soul!
all 70's you need to watch live

The music in the 70’s, was in my humble opinion was the best decade ever for music! 🙏✝️❤️🇺🇸
Since you liked this song, you have to hear AMBROSIA!!
“How much I feel “
“ You’re the biggest part of me”
“You’re the only woman”
“Holding on”
They’re 🔥🔥🔥

The bassist Ronn Moss played Ridge Forrester in the soap opera The Bold & The Beautiful for years. He's 72 now.
Holy crap, I watched him on that show for years - I may have known this but didn't remember - he looks so young on the album cover.
@@bethphillips9693 Yes!!! He's still a handsome guy.
This song is 🔥🔥🔥
Love Player and love this song. They are so very awesome. Love your reaction!

You're right, this is another perfect song. And like Marvin & Tammi sang 'Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing' baby🎶
I met them at a department store when I was 13 in Kansas City where I grew up as they were in town for a concert and signing autographs. This song had just come out.
It's been used and sampled for so many different movies, advertisements, and songs. Universal feeling of regret - definitely blue-eyed soul.
One of my very favorite songs. ❤
I was a teen when this came out, good times!
Such a fabulous song. Thank you. I enjoy your reviews.
When I was sixteen, in 1978, I would here this song on the radio every morning getting ready for school. Great Song. Great Reaction!

Love this song. Its just so smooth.
62 years young still jamming to player in 2025....
They were referred to as "Blue Eyed Soul Brothers"! Great 🎵 🎶 🎵
The guy with the scarf on the album cover went on to be a big soap opera star for many years.
I thought that but wasn't sure which soap was he on and when...I used to watch them with my Gram
@RockinMamaT I think it was The Bold and the Beautiful. I remember that his character's name was Ridge Forrester.
@MikeytheGeek7711 Yes thanks i remember that ☺️
This is a great song and group, if you like this, you'd love Ambrosia! Start with "How Much I Feel." Alot of love songs in the 70's.
Such a great song!
Ambrosia, That's How Much I Feel
💙💙💙💙

Player probably has other good songs, but this is the only one that most people know.
You have to watch the video, her singing is much more obvious there.
Here for Smooth Player 😅 I dont know if you've checked out Peter Frampton Do you feel like we do. Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ☮️ ✌️
Sorry you didn't play the video....
To me this is the aural equivalent of a mogadon sandwich. Serious snooze fest. Sorry, the sort of corporate MOR tosh that never took off in the UK. My contempt for this is beyond words. 😂 Sorry.
What you are describing is today's music, sorry

To each their own. I personally have been loving this hit for 50ish years!
This song was released 1977. Three years shy of 1980. Sorry you missed a fantastic song.
@ And so you should. I still listen to Tinseltown in the Rain by the Blue Nile.🤩👍
Kix - "Don't Close Your Eyes" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
