Of course Rita's in love with the Leopard. Most women struggle to find a man that'll leave her satisfied before they finish. She's found a handsome devil that satisfies her merely by strutting past.

Hey Jingles, I noticed that in this video there was a lot of "combing" or "weaving" of moving objects and when you pan the camera quickly. Check your camera and see if it's recording in 1080i (interlaced) 60P. If your camera can't record natively at 1080P (progressive) 60FPS then the combing will remain a permanent issue. If you can, try to figure out how or if your video editing software can de-interlace the video to make it smoother. If this doesn't bother you, completely disregard this message.

    • @The_MightyJingles
      @The_MightyJingles  8 років тому +16

No it is an issue, I thought it was in the rendering but I think it must be the camera recording mode. I'll check it out.

    • @sruz25cz
      @sruz25cz 8 років тому +3

Well, the camera is and isn't an issue. Interlaced video is one of the standard video formats and it shouldn't be a problem working with it if you know what you're doing.
Afaik the de-facto industry-standard deinterlacer is yadif, there's a good chance that your video editor has it as a filter or something.
Alternatively you can use ffmpeg (or some ffmepg GUI like QWinFF) to recode it with appropriate parameter (-vf yadif or if want 60fps -vf yadif=send_field) before importing it into your video editor.

    • @MrLehi99
      @MrLehi99 8 років тому

el l'Hask Thank you for further elaborating on the issue. I only know the basics and wouldn't have known a potential fix like this.

i honestly didnt see anything at first
and ive seen some bad compression before
but yeah it feels a bit jaggy, the whole 1080i is such a weird format

Yes it kind of hurts the eyes a bit when you are panning the camera.

You should have gone to the Tankevent at Soesterberg in the Netherlands , they drove around a Centurion for you and a Leopard 1, Leopard 2a4 and Leopard 2a6 for Rita
(and a Leopard 2 with the turret taken off and replaced by 6 seats which would take you around the arena, it made all the parts vibrate :D)
And the Bovington Mark IV was also there.

As someone who has been living on military bases in Canada for most of their life, I have alot of fond memories of the Leopard C2, be it from climbing all over it and inside during days where the army decided to bring out some armoured vehicles for show in CFB Suffield, Alberta, or getting the chance to ride in it after an excercise.
Although unfortunately I don't think I'll ever get the chance to see one fire in person, as even though I am now in the military myself, the Leopard C2 was replaced by the Leo. 2A6, which is still an amazing machine but it doesn't hold that sentimental value of a childhood experience.

In my few short years in the US Army, I got to drive M113, M577 TOC (Tactical Operations Center), got to gun a 25mm chain gun on a Bradley CFV, was a dismount on a Bradley IFV (and got to drive one around the motor pool a couple times), and weirdly, got to drive an M1A1 MBT from Barstow Railhead to Ft Irwin (National Training Center) after 15 minutes of "training" because they ran out of tank drivers....sorry to say I drove it like an old woman, happy to report both I and the tank made is safely.
I will always love our American Turbine-powered tanks. The sound and the smell....like a turbo mixed with brownies. AMAZING!
All of this and? I was a Stinger Missile gunner...FIM-92 Short Range Air Defense. Basically infantry with a big ass missile to hump around with me.

As a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, I am greatly pleased to see Memorial Service and the release of the "Buddy Poppies" at the end of this video. England is one of the 9 countries that use the Buddy Poppy to generate funds for their Veterans. (All 9 were allies during World War 1.)
Freedom isn't free. What few people here realize, though... Other Nations have paid the price of Freedom, with the blood, sweat and tears of their young people in the firing lines. When a Veteran asks you to honor a Veteran and wear a poppy, that is more than just honoring a Veteran. It's remembering the price of the Freedoms you enjoy. And how many people have paid that price along the way!
Jingles I have always respected your videos regarding World of Tanks. And this one video raised that respect to a whole new level. Many thanks for ending on that note!
From one Veteran to another (Even though we served in different Nation's military)
    07!

So I went to the UK for vacation over the summer with my family, and I made sure we stopped a the Tank Museum. I didn't know this, but every day they have a small display of the tanks out on the arena, so I went outside and was pleasantly surprised when a Leopard 2 started driving around. The leo is a very nice tank :) I liked it even more when it suddenly fired its main gun without warning the crowd, scaring the crap out of me...

Great video, loved the tanks. Yes, the tank was an oddity in WW1 - most of the hard gains in advances were thanks to complex infantry tactics combined with supporting artillery fire. Tanks had cemented its place on the battlefield, but it certainly was not the wonder breakthrough weapon in WW1...that would come 20 years later.

Good to see a service and remembrance ceremony to remind people that war is a horrific catastrophe for humanity, that had brought loss and pain to so many.

I don't often post a comment on a youtube-vid but I can't this one slip by, though: WW1 reenactment just gave me the scariest of chills.
Seeing your video - captured in bright daylight with spots of green gras left - just imagine how it would be like:
Beeing nineteen - dawn, 05:30 in the morning, twilight, mud-brown no-man's-land, covered with the mortal remains of your friends and comrades who died in the attack a day before.
I am so glad I never witnessed or even took part in a war myself. And I sincerly hope, that my (potential) children and grandchildren do not have to either.
    Thx for the vid.
    Kindest regards
    Kas

You have to remember that the Challenger I is a underdog of all modern tank used by any world power. Being ranked last in the tank competition somewhere in the 80s, it scored a massive accuracy recognition that no tank could beat till now with a kill of 5.3KM during the 1st Gulf War, the longest tank kill of any war.

Hey Jingles, as a Canadian Armoured Crewman the C2 and the Leo 2 made my heart happy.
I'm not a tanker, I drive a Coyote. But I still love the armour my country has.
I have seen both vehicles go a lot faster than that too, and I have a tanker buddy who swears up and down that he's broken 100KPH in a Leo 2A6. I dunno whether or not to believe him but I like the idea haha.
And yes, the sound is absolutely amazing. One thing I've noticed though, when you're in the field and look up to see a leopard 500 meters away pointed at you, I can honestly never say I have heard them coming first. Keeping in mind, I normally have my hatch closed while I am driving so I can't hear much haha
    Bloody eerie that is.
Definitely hear them when they're moving ahead of you.
I love the videos mate, and I love the support you give to the history even more. Keep doing the good work. I appreciate it a lot.

    Hey Jingles.
If you really want to see tanks (and want to travel a little) there is a thing called Åben Hede (open heath) every summer in Denmark.
Its a tank shoot, where the public can see some tanks shoot. Last year, it was the centurions, leopards (1 and 2) and many other vehicles. What is special, is that the public is within 50 meters of tanks doing live-fire and that you are allowed to climb into them, on the static display before the shoot.
Rita would love it, since there was about 6 leopard 1's not counting bridgelayers etc ;)
    Give it a look.

Many years ago while on exercise with the Australian Army, we had a Squadron of Leopards driving up and down the road we were next to. I don't know about the others but every time one of them went past, with the ground, air and cardiovascular system vibrating with that glorious rumble, I looked at the tree I was sleeping next to and thought "It's the biggest I could find and it's not big enough".

As dearly as I love tanks....nevertheless I have to say that its crazy how much money, ressources etc. is invested to built new ones.
You have a masterpiece of mechanic and technoloy that is, usually, not designed to live very long because its meant to be used in war and as we all know, war is very destructive.
If all the knowledge thats used to built war material was used in a peaceful manner...

Even though the Ajax is big for a reconnaissance vehicle, it's designed to conduct active reconnaissance like the recon variant of the Bradley. It will go and search for the enemy and engage them to ascertain the composition, disposition, and strength of the enemy force. The Scorpion and Scimitar are designed for passive reconnaissance which is sitting, listening, and watching. The only time they use their weapon systems is for counter-reconnaissance against the enemies recon assets or for self defense when trying to bug out from an OP (observation point, not over powered :)).

the great sound of the Leo1, is because the exhaust exits are on their flanks. When you hear a leo in the woods or in a field it makes it very difficult to locate it. especially at night. It's very funny when we do night driving on the training ground with our leopard pionier, and Leguan when the infanterie is there as well. They never know from which side we are coming. so they always put on their lights out of fear of being overrun. :) :) :)
PS you should come to Belgium to visit the gunfire museum

The first tanks also didn't ave the typical armour that WWII tanks had. It was boiler plate and rivets. The rivets themselves could become pretty deadly projectiles and even the fumes and heat from the engine could disorient and possibly kill if the crew spent too long inside

Great video for those of us not able to go there.
Liked that they drove a Chiftain around, such a nice tank.
Bit of a shame they did not take their prized tank out, Tiger 131, as it's one of the most famed tanks of WW II, but I guess they can't run the Tiger at every event, but it should have for this one imho.

Jingles you should go to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, they have U-boat 505 there and it's the only one of it's kind still existing today. I heartily recommend the trip as it is incredible to see and to be inside of it. Plus there's loads of other information about the Battle of the Atlantic and Warship related stuff. The rest of the museum is pretty cool too, They have a model ship hall you should also visit.

Damn I love the challenger 1 most beautiful tank ever in my opinion. It just has this more edgy modern look and even today you would believe it is a brand new machine. Also just love how it is 1 continuous slope from the hull to the top of the turret :)

I love the silhouette of a SMLE with bayonet fixed. For me it's the quintessential emblem of WW I. Got an Aussie Mk III* which is also celebrating her 100th this year.

I happen to work in radio, and being in the US it's generally during work when I watch most of your videos. So, as a commercial production engineer, my studio is rather adequate for bass sounds. Just so happens as I was watching this, with the sound up and the door closed, and I had someone pop in wondering just what the hell I was listening to.
I can also hear what sounds like the distant rumble of thunder!

Jingles. If you ever want to visit the West Coast of America, I would highly recommend going to the Flying Heritage Collection, it's a private collection of WORKING WW2 planes. They do many days were they fly them. The collection includes the last FW190 "Dora" in existence and many others

O btw Jingles conscription for the British was brought very late into world war one, Britain had the largest volunteer army ever known during World War 1 (And part of my history degree mainly focused around world war one and the development of the tank, so there are a few common misconceptions about the problems during world war 1).

You know, one of these days I hope that the US Army would offer up an Abrams to run around Bovington's ring. I remember back when I was a kid and seeing them tool around the range at Fort Knox on a Family Day for the old armor school. It really makes me mis the old Armor and Cavalry Museum (yeah I know, it got 'moved' to Georgia but they still haven't got any building set up for the collection)

Centurion at 12:30 minutes is probably a Mark 10 or maybe a Mark 9.
The rear of the hull shows it's either a Mark 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 or 13 because it has a single gently sloped plate. The glacis doesn't show the lip (so the glacis has been thickened to 4.75 inches) that means it isn't a basic Mark 7 or 8 and can't be a Mark 7/1 or 8/1 because of the 105mm gun.
It doesn't have the ranging gun or IR spotlight so it can't be a Mk. 12 or 13. That leaves Mk 9 or 10. The shape of the gun mantle is difficult to see under the dust cover, but appears to be flat rather than curved, which would make it a Mark 10, the commanders cupola also appears to be rotatable which may confirm that.
