Best tour you've filmed. Irene is absolutely lovely, camera work is smooth and well composed, audio sounds great! Wonderfully immersive tour video! I've been on quite a few subs, but I've never seen such cramped officer quarters! Maybe a Romeo class boat, but even WWII US Navy boats had more room for the Big Boys
+donaldjasoncrunk Totally agree! You have to respect a tour guide like Irene. She probably hears the same jokes, the same one liners ((poop deck comes to mind...) constantly. Yet she can still find it in herself to laugh and enjoy it all the same. Takes talent :D Edit: Jingles, you need to send this video to Irene so she can see herself if you haven't already! :)
That was a super guided tour by Irene. She was so charming, had great stories and such a very nice charming laugh. If anyone needs a tip for super guiding that must be her! Great job, Irene Henrik from Denmark
Jingles this was one of the better videos I have had the pleasure to watch. Thank you for all the historical info on the sub, and the DD. And your tour guide looked to be a pretty fun lady as well. Thanks again.
I really hope you guys gave Irene a grand applause and huge thank you after the tour. Even here, when watching her talk in the video, I get 'so' excited about things she says and points out!
Jingles have you ever considered doing a Silent Hunter Campaign series on your channel ....from any of the Silent Hunter franchise 3, 4, or 5 respectively
I'm not fully through the video but give my thanks to Irene. Thank you for the tour and information of the submarine and also Jingles thank you for all the footage.
Many years ago my Dad and I visited HMS Ocelot. I'm a Kent local, so the dockyard is about 20 minutes down the motorway. When I visited, Ocelot had just arrived and was missing its dome after an accident bringing it into the dock. We were the only two visitors so we had a personal tour of the sub, including letting the 8-year-old me play with the main controls. Chatham dockyard is just great.
Sub was very claustrophobic. SO small. I cant imagine working in the engine room just 1 foot between two large diesel engines. Gotta say I love her job. She seems to also. That ladder must have been a treat when the girl went commando :) Favorite video ever! And very informative too.
there is one of these O class boats on display at the Sydney Maritime museum here in Australia, my stepfather served as a sonar operator on it, the HMAS Onslow. The Australian submariners used the aft torpedo tubes to store beer cans and they say they were always cold.
Hats of to Irene she was a lovely tour guide. I really enjoyed your footage of of the Kent dockyard. Yes Submariners/bubble heads are a strange breed. I have known several over the years.
I am an excellent swimmer, having been a waterpolo player for 6 years, and an exceptional diver, I can drive a length of a swimming pool, 50m, on a breath, couldn't do more but am a fat and old now, and do not have even a hint of claustrophobia, but if somebody told me that I had to serve on a submarine I would immediately desert. I do not get how people can serve on a ship, and when I even imagine sense of helplessness that you get not being able to even hear what is going on while you are submerged... It's scary!
Annoyingly the marketing department seems to be getting the final say on the development schedule. Wargaming aren't stupid. They know the Royal Navy is the one most of the community wants to see. Even their choice of venue there is just to remind everyone RN is coming...just going to be a while. They've still to launch HMS Hood as a premium for a start. While they haven't said they would it's an obvious move.
+San4311 Oh I understand their marketing strategy well enough - US vs JPN for the US and Asia market, RU vs DE for the Russian and European market. Its pretty much the same for WoT: British tanks are treated mostly as "meh" fillers to pad the game out a bit. Probably the RN line will suffer the same fate whenever it is dragged out. I'm just pointing out the paradox of having a PR event for a non-RN (for one year, two years maybe?) game in a historic RN base...
+San4311 I don't mind it actually. It gives them more time to iron out issues with the game currently and time to balance the existing ships enough that when the RN are released it should be a reasonably smooth transition.
I was having a bad day because i had to tend farm instead of heading to Lake Tahoe with the family, This got my brain off the farm today and into some amazing places! Thanks Jingles.
Oh my the memories my father used to work there till they opened at sire at Allens West in Eaglescliffe and he was sent up to set it up I was born not long after but we always used to go on yearly visits to Chatham during the late 80's and 90's
Damn Jingles. You were only about 5 minutes away from my house! Wish I knew you were there, Loved to have met you! Hope you enjoyed The Historic Dockyard!
"many German on board"...hahaha :D Jingles thanks for this cool video. "The British are coming! ...The British are coming!" ...away quickly :P many greetings from Germany ;)
Had the fortune to visit Ocelot at sea in the 80's off the coast of Arran - the jump from the tender to the sub in an ''arran squal'' remains etched somewhat
Sure a tour of that sub would make Jingles look back kindly on the accommodations of his Gulf War era Frigate Hell, I felt claustrophobic touring the brand-new HMAS Canberra LHC.
Like you, I was a 'skimmer' or a 'target' too, but I went to school (USN Navy Nuclear Power Program) with several wannabe bubbleheads, and they are their own breed, no doubt. I went to a bird farm and served for 4 of my 6 year obligation (the other 2 being all in school). As large a s a Nimitz Class carrier is, I still had days I felt cramped, and we still suffered from time to time with water shortages... I can only imagine what it must have been like on a WW2 era Submarine. But, as they say in the Navy, "Choose your rate, choose your fate"... and as the flagship of the fleet, we at least got to stop in all the best ports of call (that could accommodate a floating city, anyway). Loved the video, Jingles, love to tour old ships and battlegrounds, and I missed this opportunity when I had a short stopover in London, but this was good enough to almost count being there.Cheers,EM2(N)/SW 'gumborex' on the NA server
I remember one day when one of those shells fell on my foot while we were loading our ship. It hurt, it hurt a lot, but I was extremely lucky I had no lasting injury. It was for a 5inch gun.
There need to be more witty sub tour t-shirts. "I used to love sub tours, but to get this t-shirt I spent 15 years of my life underwater." Excellent vid, btw!
when i was there and had a tour of the submarine, they sounded some sort of alarm (not sure which one, it was a while ago) where they had all of the periscopes, it must have been one of the loudest things i have ever heard in my life!
Thanks for the tour of the O boat :) If you ever make it to Halifax you should tour the Flower class HMCS Sackville, also in Hamilton HMCS Haida a Tribal class destroyer. Both survivors of WWII. Awesome channel :)
well it was really nice to see the cavalier this was one of my late grandfathers ships in ww2 the other being hms algerine made my day thanks jingles gj
QUESTION: Why was the bridge open to elements? With 2000 tons adding maybe a single ton for some protection doesn't seem like a big problem and feels like it would improve combat capability a lot.
Absolutely love your guide. Folks like her make museum visits even more enjoyable... Hey, is that bearded fellow Ectar? His voice sounds much younger than he appears.
God bless our Submariners, the sacrifices they made/make to help keep our countries safe. From a former US Navy surface fleet sailor, aka a target ship.
Mitchell Oates: Probably the best Submarine movie ever filmed was the German production of "Das Boot" (The Boat). It was originally a 16 hour mini series on German Television and was then edited down to 2.5 hours and released in the U.S. in 1981 in German with English sub titles. The best version is the 3 hour Director's cut. Though it's filmed from the WWII German view it's the most accurate film of the life of a "pig boat" and it's crew of the U-96. The U-96 was a type VIIC model launched August 1, 1940, in WWII she went on 11 tours sinking 27 Merchant ships and Damaging 4 ships. She was sunk with all hands on 30 March 1945 by US bombs in Wilhelmshaven. "Das Boot" was written by the War Correspondent, Lothar-Günther Buchheim, who sailed with the U-96 on one of her patrols in 1941.
39:48 I was expecting the gun to be louder... or the camera just didn't pick it up? Then again, some people were going "woah" Great video Jingles. Thanks.
I like these little historical vids
+John Data ''little'' 40 minutes long
Works for me - I get long periods of time at work where I got nothing to do. Videos like this are nice.
37:45 Oh Jingles, that's dark and I love it
+Minarus Infernus perfect :p
Best tour you've filmed. Irene is absolutely lovely, camera work is smooth and well composed, audio sounds great! Wonderfully immersive tour video!

Oh, just go to the Growler at the popular site in NY NY. They're actually smaller.
That was a super guided tour by Irene.
She was so charming, had great stories and such a very nice charming laugh.
If anyone needs a tip for super guiding that must be her!
Great job, Irene
Henrik from Denmark

I like 4 and 5
+starkat70 This is a fantastic idea!
+starkat70 Agreed. Would love to see how he handles RN hunter killer groups during the late war in GWX!
that would be cool to watch. I am watching Bismark play it on his channel. "Iron Crosses for everyone!"
+starkat70 He should totally play SH5 with the Wolves of Steel Mod on full realism.
Love stories like this :D ... also love how Jingles and the lady are like best buddies and remembers back together :D
Thank you for this Jingles! It's nice that we can watch this kind of thing when we can't attend ourselves!
She seems very fit for a lady of her age :D
+BryanFDNY Which of the ships do you mean? :P
+BryanFDNY plot twist she's a really old looking 32 year old
+angus white Stop with the plot twists, we don't need all that god awful facebook shit on youtube.
Plot twist: He was talking about the tour guide
A very nice lady and good guide :)
You're starting to sound like yourself Jingles, wish you even faster recovery!
+Flambass He once more defeated valiantly the dreaded man-flu - despite the odds ;)
+MERLK2 let's take a moment to remember the brave souls who lost their lives during the Great Man-Flu Pandemic of 1632. RIP
I vote for a Lets Play Together with The Mighty Jingles and SirNossi (the german who played the WoWs game) ;)
+Nubia Sinnet or/and mootality!
i am not sure about their english capabilities though...xD
Raz0rking Would be funny anyways :D
Another brilliant video, Jingles. Cheers! Irene was a fantastic too.
Hope you feel better Master, it's hard work in the salt mines without the constant whipping
I'm not fully through the video but give my thanks to Irene. Thank you for the tour and information of the submarine and also Jingles thank you for all the footage.
Super cool to see the British sub, Ms Irene seemed really knowledgeable and cool, i really enjoy the historical videos.
Irean is adorable. Jingles thanks for the video. Love all your vids! Alot of the games I don't even play... yet. Keep up the work my good man.
Nice to hear about your naval past again jingles
You enjoyed making the video and I enjoyed watching it
Thank you Jingles for the interesting video, and to Irene for the funny and informative tour. (I needed a laugh to day, and she did wonders.)
Jingles I'm applying for the submariners in December I'm glad I know your opinion of me ='D
Good luck! :)
Thanks I appreciate it ^.^
+Matt Thompson You can call him target from now one :-D
+Matt Thompson Don't forget a supply of wet wipes for cleaning
xD
@Jingles Thanks for the tour of the ships. It was really cool.
Beautiful! Thank you very much, Jingles!
Greetings to that highly professional and charming tour guide, Irene!

Top Notch Jingles, loved it, thanx for the time spent editing it, really a bang up job..
Wow thanks, so much for JIngles...utterly awesome! VERY educational!
Just last night I saw Polish was among the ship nationalities on the player statistics pages. Thank you Irene for the tour!
Jingles, I REALLY appreciated this video very much... had an awful day so far I needed this very bad.
@ Irene:
Madam, you did a fantastic job! Hats off to you!
Sub was very claustrophobic. SO small. I cant imagine working in the engine room just 1 foot between two large diesel engines.
Gotta say I love her job. She seems to also.
That ladder must have been a treat when the girl went commando :)

A great video jingles. Really very interesting to see Chatham. Many thanks.
Jingles - as you have often said yourself, but it bears repeating, you really do have the best job in the World! Great vid as always.
Hats of to Irene she was a lovely tour guide. I really enjoyed your footage of of the Kent dockyard. Yes Submariners/bubble heads are a strange breed. I have known several over the years.
Very excited to see the Błyskawica in action!

Begone troll... Nice try! LOL LOL LOL!!!
if I remember right submarine duty is voluntary.
this actually cheered me up in a very very dark time, thank you for the video jingles :') cheers from belguim
So WG chose Chatham Historic Dockyard to announce an early 20th century naval warfare game that ignores and excludes the RN?
Annoyingly the marketing department seems to be getting the final say on the development schedule. Wargaming aren't stupid. They know the Royal Navy is the one most of the community wants to see. Even their choice of venue there is just to remind everyone RN is coming...just going to be a while. They've still to launch HMS Hood as a premium for a start. While they haven't said they would it's an obvious move.
+Turbogerbil They don't ignore it, they think like businessmen. There are more German and Russian players playing the game than British.
War Gaming needs to add a British tech tree into this game and yes I know they have added some British ships

Nice vid Sir!
I've been on a Oberon class sub before in Rio de Janeiro's Naval Museum there's one, this video made me feel so nostalgic.
so hyped for stronk soviet destroyers, my beard is quivering with anticipation
Very sweet tour guide, thanks for the vid, Jingles. :)
Is it that bloody boat, errr, real life experience again?
I was having a bad day because i had to tend farm instead of heading to Lake Tahoe with the family, This got my brain off the farm today and into some amazing places! Thanks Jingles.
just me that wants a video of Jingles explaining his time in the navy?
Thank you for the video. The tour guide was a peach, she made things fun and as always you made my day.
Oberon class in the RAN - we used to go tour the RAN ships when they were in port as kids including Oberon - they used to visit regularly.
HAHAHAHA the sub's called Ocelot....and has 6 tubes...Revolver Ocelot from metal gear solid confirmed XD
Huge well done to your guide on those visits, she as awesome, great fun
Oh my the memories my father used to work there till they opened at sire at Allens West in Eaglescliffe and he was sent up to set it up I was born not long after but we always used to go on yearly visits to Chatham during the late 80's and 90's
God, this takes me back. I served on these boats for 15 years. Happy Days
Damn Jingles. You were only about 5 minutes away from my house! Wish I knew you were there, Loved to have met you! Hope you enjoyed The Historic Dockyard!
That tour guide just seems like the most darling woman. She must have been a treat.
Great video Jingles! And a big shout out to Irene, lol.She was a great tour guide! :)
I really enjoyed this Video Jingles. Thank you!
"many German on board"...hahaha :D Jingles thanks for this cool video. "The British are coming! ...The British are coming!" ...away quickly :P
many greetings from Germany ;)
Idk how sub crews do it! Just walking through that id have a major panic attack and need to get out. I have trouble just sitting for a 5 hour flight.
The tour guide is so warm and cute D:
46min .... thats like chrismas... hurray deer Jingles hurray deer Jingles!
Upvote for Irene.
Great vid, I've never been on any type of warship so it was good to see what they look like inside
Every time i see you do a museum visit, especially one of naval ships i always think about the USS Silverside back in my home town.
Thx for the vid, Admiral! A very intresting museum you got there on the island.

That Lady and Jingles make a lovely match, same hair colour and they get stuff wrong all the time. :P
Irene is good at her job. I would never remember all that.
Damn it Jingles! Your comment about the Germans being on the Bismark caused me to spray coffee all over my keyboard. Very funny!!
Surprised you could sit through this Jingles, too much like being back at work.
I remember one day when one of those shells fell on my foot while we were loading our ship. It hurt, it hurt a lot, but I was extremely lucky I had no lasting injury. It was for a 5inch gun.

What a wonderful lady she seems to be. Great guide.
Wow, so much respect for submariners, very challenging in so many ways
Such a sweet lady tour guide with a good sense of humour as well! :D
next time you're in the US, if you're near Massachusetts take a trip to Battleship Cove
You still sound ill sir, thx for your efford!
Jingles what were you thinking?! I wanted to read that paper on the torpedo!! D:
Does she really mean Tiny Rowland? He's the notorious businessman (famous in the '80's and '90's) isn't he?
8:30
well it was really nice to see the cavalier this was one of my late grandfathers ships in ww2 the other being hms algerine made my day thanks jingles gj
Thanks @jingles, she's great!
She seemed so nice, Such a nice tour guide.

I loved the German comment jingles, keep on steaming and watch out for those torps
Its interesting to see that the Oberon and the Gato were similar sizes, but the Oberon seems more cramped.
Thanks Jingles, i initially planned my Day otherwise, but now i have to go and watch "Das Boot" again... great xD
this is such a beaautiful english that lady speaks!
that was a great video i love the history your guide was funny good stuff man keep it up
I love these videos, thanks jingles
They must have kept Jingles for their collection :)
God bless our Submariners, the sacrifices they made/make to help keep our countries safe. From a former US Navy surface fleet sailor, aka a target ship.
+TornadoADV I know I didn't mention it in my comment but I was on two carriers (USS Coral Sea & Eisenhower - both very high value targets)
Anyone else remember Bohemian Eagle?
Wish I knew you were there, whilst the event was on I was in chargemans office playing with little model ships wondering how it was going
What a lovely lady, I could hear her talk all day about these other lovely ladies.
Glad I was carrier Navy (CVN-70). Though I do miss that beast, I do drive a BB in WoWS. Currently Tier V American, working Tier VI.

Great video Jingles. Thanks.
Great Tour guide you had there! :)
SCREW being a Submariner.
I've been on CVN-76 USS Ronald Reagan. Now despite being also cramped for space, it was pretty comfy.
