My suggestion for that would be to purchase and F1 car and use slick tires. Make sure you use them on a straight so both the front and back tires go over them.
I stored a Pokémon card in a perfect sleeve in a one touch 35pt case. Just for the helluva it. After months during the winter, i decided to reorganize my tcg and took that same card out of the case and it curved tremendously!
I just put a stack in a wooden drawer, the weight of other cards and put a tape measure on the top to add some more weight. Works great. Did it with all my base set, fossil, and jungle set
That's probably why they are called "Car-d's", cause you can just drive over them with your car to flatten them. Also finally someone found a use for books.
I bought 151 at release and my cards were bowed forward like this straight out the pack, good to know the bowing will not affect the grade and you can flatten yourself with some weight. WIll be more careful where I am buying in future I got from a large retail store they probably didn't store them very well (cold warehouse, outside, back of vans etc.)
You can massage it with your hands and use a soft boom , first put the card in a sleeve and top load and put the book on it and lightly presss you have to do it a few times but it will help out a lot sometimes cards get curved being in binders for a while
Try living in the south south when there is always high humidity. It really sucks cause when you go buy these cards they already bending even from the store brand new.
OK so I suffered the same issue as you, with holos curling backwards like that. You are right that its because of humidity, but humidity can go both ways Too much humidity and foils will curl forward Too little humidity and foils will curl backwards, like yours/mine. Out of the two, too little humidity is easier to fix. I bought 65% bovea humidity packs from a cigar shop (1 is like 5-8$) and put my card in a small sealed container with the card and checked on it every 12 hrs. After a day or two it was completely flat. I got a humidifier where I keep my cards and bought a humidity meter to track the levels and as it went up, after a week I saw a bunch of cards in the room flattening. There are vids of people putting cards in cigar humidors to increase the humidity, but all this only works if your holos are curled backwards like in the vid, this means there is too little humidity
I'll try the opposite method for the too much humidity. I live in a location where I have 80% or 70% humidity pretty often in my flat. And all my cards are bending, it's making me mad. Even those in double sleeve + top loader or binder are not safe on long term. My silica gel are saturated after few hours. So first of all I plan to buy an hermetic box where I could throw every pokemon card stuff. And to fix the forward curl, I'll try to put a card in an hermetic little box with a silica gel. Maybe the silica gel will absorb the moisture from the card and then the card will be flat like yours. Opposite method for the opposite issue.
@@noedesmons9978 I 100% relate, especially getting mad. I have the same problem with high humidity and the best idea i came up with is to put a given amount of cards into a deck box with some silica gel packs in it (some deck boxes are sold with a silica gel pack included indeed). I wonder how many packs are needed and how long does it take to get the result, assuming it works...
Helpful video…I just wish there was someway to almost guarantee no warping by a new method of production for the cards, but also bindering them right away is good too (wish top loader binders were almost the same size as regular binders, same with top loaders)
It's probably warping because of the way its stored. I have mine in an ETB and a stack of them were leaning because of the extra space inside which is why it curved.
The only cards that have wrapped are the holo’s to the Deoxys EX release set. I have zero idea why but now I have to go flatten them out with a book lol.
Harbor freight sells these C clamps for like 2 bucks with large rubber pads, ive used the book method and clamped the book down with the C clamps to add weight
@sleevenocardbehind so that tiny bit of air in a brand new sealed pack does that never did on the 90s stuff like pluss the new cards are thiner card stock aswell imop
I just found a few sleeved holos in my climate controlled storage unit, and I noticed they had a curve to them. I couldn’t remember if I left them that way. Thankfully I have my heavy hitters in a sleeve/ top loader combo. Glad to know they are safe! Thanks for the info!
If you use a standard binder with pages make sure it is a D ring not and O ring and don't overfill (to many pages) because the top pages will bend them inside the binder. Also, is that really true grading companies don't care about the curve?
I have experience cards being bent when I get them. (Yu-Gi-Oh mostly, but sometimes Pokémon) The promo holos are the worse at this. Though I do have ringed binders that might be doing this as well. Like I restarted collecting after 20 years, and back then my storage was like the box they came in or a crayon box. Though now I do have tins, binders, and deck boxes.
You all are wrong. Put the foils in between the non-foil cards like energies. Then place them in a non-plastic deck box(laying flat down, not sideways) and store in a dry spot like a closet. You can also place a Damp Rid container in the closet for more efficiency. Wait two weeks to a month and your cards are back to normal.Truth is, the regular cards helps keep the foils from absorbing moisture. People just keep the foils separate from the rest of the deck most of the time. You can thank me anytime you want.
After so many yrs of collecting cards, I have card curve/bow issue. They were fine til semi recently. Whatever caused it seems to have only affected the holofoil or as I call them 40/60 & 60/40s and up (V, Vmax, Full arts, etc). And 98% of ones that got affected were not left out. I had them in elite trainer boxes, white card storing things get at card shop, etc. They were in a room thats room temperature is usually between 65 to 75 but usually 71 to 74. I didn't have them exposed to direct sunlight, there was no flooding, didn't spill water on them, etc. Sadly, I didn't know they curved/bowed til last weekish. Would laying them between books really work? Or getting a dehumidifier? The cards dont feel wet, moist, damp, etc they just are bowing to varying degree.
Some of mine that are in boxes in a drawer still manage to absorb moisture through the air and warp. Yes, carefully using the book method should fix the issue
Would it be a good idea to place a blank sheet of printer paper in front and behind the card before closing the book? Because the book's pages are already saturated with heavy inks, so it should theoretically allow for any excess moisture to transfer over to the blank printer paper.
Maybe you can buy plain white construction paper (thicker..maybe it’ll add more weight) and fold a piece in half (cut it smaller) , or use a sleeve? Some of my cards have gotten stuck on the sleeves for some reason (were open and put in sleeves right away)
I did this with foil Magic cards. Unfortunately after several days of being inside a book with a lot of weight, it remained as pringly as ever once i took them out. :(
@@sleevenocardbehind perhaps its cuz I live in a basement apartment, even if they're in the book the humidity won't let them uncurl. A friend of mine told me to put them in a sealed container with desiccant packets...

Ghost types are my favorite pokemon type, and even if I ignored that, the story that it was a card ruined just to show how not to do it is hilarious. I would still add it to my collection happily.
the reason the blow dryer doesn't work is that your cards have less humidity than the humidity of the location of where it was made. So trying to use a blow dryer to heat it up actually makes it worse!
and it's not always the humidity! it could just be heat (cold) expanding (contracting) the more metalic foil part! it's actually just very simple thermal stuff
My personal steps are 1: sleeve it 2: put in in a bigger plastic sleeve 3: put that sucker under a Bible and other cards (the Bible is big and won't move it around a lot of bumped) 4: forget about it for a few months 5: wow look a card!
