This route cannot Shade Skip, so we end up getting Tram Pass and doing dark Deepnest instead. Previous WR was 37:19 by homothety and was his first run with the route.

Looks like Zote's a decent speedrunner, too, got from Greenpath to Deepnest even faster than you did.
He just has to work on getting past that Vengefly king he gets stuck on it and always loses so much time

Random suggestion: a Grimm Troupe speedrun. As in, not just speedrunning the boss fights, but going from activating the flame in Howling Cliffs to defeating NKG as quickly as possible, including having to collect the flames from the Grimmkin in between.

how do you bounce on the mushroom exploding spores like that without it exploding? i try it and it keeps exploding me. does it have to be the base nail length or anything
He's playing on an older patch, the possibility got patched out later.
@@natenewman3622 Really? Has it just been made impossible to pogo off the explosion and not the orb? I've heard multiple speedrunners say the skip is impossible in the latest patch.

Absolutely correct, VKing gives a good amount of geo and takes barely anytime to kill. It’s faster then collecting the geo off geo rocks and moss knights which is done is some of the categories that need more geo

The D-pad allows more precise inputs compared to the joystick

I wish different areas of Greenpath had different types of vegetation. When you first get to Greenpath while playing, it looks so beautiful, but once you've explored the entire area it gets stale.

I’m gonna use this so I can beat this game in under 5 hours for the achievement. I just wanted a good route to take. I’ll be getting the lantern first though XD
it's really not necessary to take such an intense route to get the 5 hour achievment. Use fireborn's guide that takes about 2 hours

What's shade skip?
When you die, you leave behind a shade, which is a floating enemy that you have to kill to get your money back. One consequence of this enemy's existence id that you can pogo off of it and reach areas you weren't supposed to. However, in a steel soul run, you can't die, so there's no shade, and thus no shade skip.
John Drake in a standard run, you’d sit at the bench by salubra’s shop and then die, lure the shade to the top right of the room, pogo on it and access blue lake & resting grounds without crystal dash or going through crystal peak

probably not using that tram in the deepnest could save some time and there might be another way to quickly get some geo, but until then good run and cleaning up some of those mistakes can shave more off that timer.

Probably, there aren’t very many runs in this category yet and if people keep working on it it’ll definitely be optimized a lot more in the future
