I love how that effect brings up both sky and water, it really is versatile. Its always fun to add just enough detail that it still allows for the viewer to see their own perceptions. I love that~ I hope you give it a try, its a lot of fun!
Thank you! I hope it inspires you to give this technique a try, so much fun, and so many beautiful color combinations you could use. Happy painting most of all have fun with this~
Debbie, I think I could become addicted to this style and technique of painting, large or small. I think I love it the most as a vignette (like you have done). It lets the creative imagination run wild. Thank you so much.
Thank you, Debbie, for this video! You have been such an inspiration to me for watercolors!!! Last week my husband and I were out doing errands and we went to a thrift store where I found an array of shot glasses and "old lady cut glass" stuff that is now in my play box. Husband laughed and said "You DO know those are shot glasses, right?" It was hysterical because I don't drink and am always advocating against alcohol consumption. My plan is to do watercolors on a crazy level starting the day after Christmas. LOL
That's hilarious! I love your perspective on this...and how you always find the fun! Happy painting! Meanwhile, THANK YOU for the chuckle! Let's get crazy in 2025 with watercolors!
I never get tired of watching you turn the simplest things into something really special. I tried a cardinal tonite for my bff. I even made the envelope!! It took me a long time. I’m beginning to think to make cards for everyone I’d have to start in Oct.😂
That is so sweet, You are right, I have had years where I started much in advance these days I mostly create a small handful for special friends and family. Happy painting friend. I hope you get to make cards for everyone !
Dear Debbie, i love this , its so creative 😊 really enjoyed watching you paint. It reminds me of walking towards the beach through the sand dunes. This really is getting my imagination going Debbie and as i live near several beaches i will take a Christmas day walk and them maybe try to recreate a similar scene ❤ Thanks so much for sharing, have a nice Christmas Debbie xx
Good morning Susan, how wonderful, we were fortunate enough to live on the beach for over a decade and loved every minute of it. So inspiring isnt it. What beach do you live on, with sand dunes. Pismo maybe? I hope you have fun with this technique most of all, paint the beautiful long grass that grows along beaches, and those beautiful blue colors. Happy painting friend and Happy holidays to you~
I am so glad you like it, Happy painting and have fun friend. I want to make a large painting for my bedroom using this method. We will see~ I have a few larger pieces of art im working on for my home Ill share once I finish them :-)
You're so welcome, I hope you have fun giving it a try! So many different variations of this. I want to create a large version of this for our home. I hope you give this atyry too Ann and happy holidays friend!
I love those metallics too, they make such a difference! They are definitely my favorites over the last year or so. (I like supporting small creators too :-)
Debbie, I just want you to know that I've been using the Artisto pads for some time now and I love them. I have one that use to experiment with mixing colors so I can find it easily. I one that is relegated for painting various sky versions. And one I use for sketches - like this. I love them. I recently tried what I thought would try an upscale Etcher pad for experiment and I don't like how it works. I get much better results on the Artisto pads. I use Arches paper for my other paintings which I really like. Mostly I just wanted you to know that I'm grateful that you led me to Artisto and Medeen pads - which I also love. Thank YOU!!!.
I am so glad to hear that they are working well for you. AFter years of teaching, and trying SO many brands, I was pleasantly surprised by ARtisto. And Meeden is great because 100% cotton and on a block. Im grateful for you too friend, Lets keep having fun here~ Happy painting!
Oh oh my such fun was had- I used alcohol inks ( DIY ) for my yellow spot to represent the flowers, loved to scrape grass, salt always great to find new uses, and not sure what you used but I splattered gold WC- ta da so much fun and lots of options 🥰🎨
Maria~ Look at you! What fun you had with this. Alcohol inks are so much fun arent they? Did you use Yupo paper? I used my gold MAB Watercolour metallics, but any metallics or bright colors would do, I just happened to be obsessed with anything that shimmers and shines lol. what fun, thank yo ufor sharing, I would love to see what you did You can email me if you would like to share debbiewalkerart@gmail.com Happy painting fun, most of all enjoy this fun medium!
Hi Susan, hmm I dont know I am not familiar with that brand. If you try it please share with all of us! I LOVE the MAB brand for several reasons, and I have tried a lot and there are a lot of good fn brands of metallics, iridescent, Paul Rubens has a great set as wel I love. I do order these Mirror Series and Gold Mirrors from MAB Watercolours because they are really thick, show up and I love the little tins. (I also love to support small passionate artists like myself :-) Here is her link if you would like to take a look. Please mention I sent you as I like for her to know I support her :-) Gold bit.ly/3XBLlha Mirror bit.ly/3ZGSLCw Have fun!
@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy just for curiosity, I think i will order the CSY. I will let you know how they are. It says they are handmade...we shall see. K. Have a Merry Christmas!
Yes indeed, I have tried so many brands over the years~ Lots of good art supplies it is very individual. I dont necessarily believe the most expensive is the best. :-) Have fun most of all Susan~ Id love to hear what you think of them!
Hi Jeanette, great question, you could definitely use a hair dryer, I did for years. The heat gun I think might be a little hotter, smaller so easier to use for me . Definitely a hair dryer works though~
This is so sweet! I could be looking at the sky or water.
I love how that effect brings up both sky and water, it really is versatile. Its always fun to add just enough detail that it still allows for the viewer to see their own perceptions. I love that~ I hope you give it a try, its a lot of fun!
