This has to be one of my favorite tutorials of yours; although I love your florals too. I’ve painted this twice already and I want to paint it again 😁
I love how excited you are at this new technique because no matter how long you've been painting with watercolor, there's always something new ❤ This really turned out beautifully. Thanks for sharing.
I am just finding the will to start painting again. Lost so much when I could not paint and then so discouraged. I gave this a try. It was fun. I liked how my background trees turned out. Thanks for sharing this!
Yep I get that . But you're being kind to yourself by having a little go ...baby steps . No inspectors prowling here ..
I am in the same boat, was really painting well, and then almost nothing for 2 years related to death of brother with Alzheimer’s and a couple medical situations… I look at some of my previous paintings and wonder if I will return to the same skill level and beyond. I am just getting back to it and am inspired by this painting. Even though I have cotton paper and paints to last my lifetime, I just purchased a couple Kilimanjaro cotton paint books from Cheap Joe’s to do practicing in. I love that each 140lb page has a 70 lb page in between for sketching or writing notes about the painted page. I just need to practice playing with paints to get the joy back.
You are an excellent teacher. Your style is very appealing! Your voice is pleasant and even toned, so I enjoy listening to the process. These are great techniques I am anxious to try.
I had fun with this but definitely need to keep practicing. Thanks for sharing all you talent!
I like your tutorials a lot!! ❤
Love it. So beautiful. I keep doing it over and over to perfect it
Just beautiful😍
Thank you so much for this--we had that kind of snow just this week and it was gorgeous, but it didn't last (too wet). Your obsession with the blue in the trees matches the Pacific Northwest forests with a mix of spruce (often bluish), fir, hemlock, and various pines. I was so wishing I could paint something like this to reflect what we woke up to this week and now I can!! Thanks again!! ❤️
My first feed this morning :) I will be watching with my coffee and give it a whirl today!
Absolutely love this one. Can’t wait to share with my students next year. We all love your videos and are pleased when I say our project is one of yours!
Love this. Just my style. 😊You have inspired me to put my brush to paper again.
Love it!! You make it look so easy
So, I did this painting and love it. To make it my own I am going to paint a deer somewhere in the snowy area and perhaps even a bunny and a fox. I just have to see if I can get the deer in there. I’m practicing drawing deer. I need to draw more because I’m insecure, and haven’t spent enough time learning to draw.
I also think this is one of your best pieces. Love the blue green evergreens.
This is gorgeous . I will try this . Thank you .
Emma, I’m always inspired by your work and your positive attitude! I’ve been watching you for a while, but I’ve never had the courage to pick up the brush yet. I think I might try this one today for my very first painting attempt, with your excellent guidance , and demonstration. I like this one so very much! Keep up the good work happy holidays.
Love the scene! Love how you seem so relaxed. I get so tense. Working on it
Fab-u-lous! I'm on it. Happy Holidays!
This is my favorite of our paintings. It’s got everything I love. Forest, blue and snow, just needs a little cabin. lol😊😊😊😊❤
I absolutely love this technique and the colors you used for those background trees. I cut up a cheap brush (I did watch Sarah Cray's foliage brush video), but it needs some tweaking. Even my sad result makes nice trees! I'm learning watercolor after years of painting with acrylics. After watching your video, I did the painting for my boss' Christmas card. I added a small amount of glitter to the snow on the ground and trees. My results made me happy, but I have a long way to go to get even close to the beauty of your painting. I'm planning to practice it until I get it right! Thank you so much for your videos.
I love it! Makes me want to get back to painting! Thank you.
I love the blues and greens in the background! I recently created a forest in the background using some of my favorite colors. Sennelier Payne’s Grey, DS Q Gold, DS Undersea Green, DS Moonglow. It turned out beautiful for the fall scene I was creating. Now I need to dig into my watercolors and experiment with the blues and greens for a winter scape!. Thank you!
Blue green evergreens are my favorite!! 🌲 But I love the mixture for the background!! 🤗 Thanks for showing different ways to get the snowy look!! ❄️
Yes I love you brush you made!! ❤️ cool. Thank you 😊.
Gorgeous! Love the blues and greens.
Love, love, love this!!❤
I have learned so much from you, thank you ❤

Loved this!
That is AMAZING! What a beautiful scenery. I'll definitely try this method for a card I'll be making this afternoon. From Arizona, thank you for all you very cool tips, ticks and fun techniques.
Love it!
I agree this is gorgeous!! I tried the salt on several different papers & it didn't work. I think it was my salt. But I love this background & will be trying this. I haven't given up on salt but not today. Thank you for all the great ideas. ❤🌲❄
What a beautiful painting 😊. I've been following you on UA-cam since 2020, you're very talented and I love your paintings.
Love this
This I am definitely going to try. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
I love this video, a beautiful painting! Paul Clark talked about how to make a home made foliage brush years ago in one if his videos. I think he used it to paint grass. :)
I've never seen that video but I'll have to check it out!
Beautiful Emma I'm off to chop my old brush 😅 xx
beautiful ❤❤❤
I love, love this. I also like to use salt and table salt works best for me. I love your technique of flickering from the bottom, I love that affect a lot. Thank you for this video! Merry Christmas! 🎄
I did this one years ago with Ellen Crimi Trent. So pretty.
Nice!
Love it!!! Merry Christmas, all!!! God gave THE VERY BEST GIFT....JESUS THE SAVIOR!!!
WHAT A GENEROUS FATHER TO GIVE HIS SON FOR OUR REDEMPTION!!!
I am using 100 percent cotton paper, but I cannot seem to find a good water amount application technique...and it dries quickly in my 96 year old home, my studio is on the second floor, wondering if I should use my vaporizer in there..I always run out of time...and I so want to use these techniques. I suspect I also need creamier paint ....any ideas out there? Great video Emma! thank you.
❤❤❤

Is there a link explaining how to make the foliage brush - thank you
Here’s sarah’s video making one! ua-cam.com/video/jD-xtTXYfAA/v-deo.htmlsi=qRvESbt6QyQIlGnt
What is the sketchbook you are using?
The white cover cold pressed sketchbooks from Etchr lab!
Geeze 🤦🏽♀️ I’m not sure why I can’t seem to do this blurry technique. Mine just bleed into one blob of color. No definition. I’d love if you’d explain your water to paint ratio of your strokes.
Try less water, more paint on your brush
Beautiful, thank you Emma ❤️
